of course they can get local volunteers, but volunteering isn't a common thing to do in asia in general, for various reasons. we paid to go there so we could get hands-on experience helping out, and i saw kids playing in garbage with no shoes but were still happy. this experience taught me lessons in humility, and these people remembered us way after we had left. that's not something you can measure with money. i recommend you trying it out for yourself.
wow dude, you really have to know your stuff before you start talking. first, there are millions of people in the philippines. second, by saying it's rare to see someone with a job, you're saying that more than 90% of the people there are unemployed, which is off from the 7.3% I just learned by googling it. so no, it's not a rare thing to see someone there with a job. third, sending money is not the same as actually doing the work. that's what i learned there.
Habitat was great when it began, but now, due to unknown reasons, nothing is happening. The plan was to develope the whole area, and the photos on the net are great...BUT HAS ANYONE FROM HABITAT BEEN THERE TO SEE HOW THE HOMES ARE BUILT NOW...
A unit is now called finished with no doors, no windows, never power, no running water, a septic with nowhere to drain but the ground. As the project has continued the state of what is a finished unti has clearly deteriorated. WHY?
thank you so much guys for helping our fellows.i'm now in US but i tell you, never even in a single millisecond i forget of coming back to help my roots. i always remember the time when i was still there and all my neighborhood had help my family for something and we do the same to them too..we're like family, very close to each other, we know everybody and we really are very, very happy to see people from other country like you guys coming and reaching us. Thank you so much! godbless you all!
baseco does need homes, that is undisputable. but i think its people need condoms even more. i understand why the kids dont listen to their parents...usually they are the problems, not the children.
Oh my goodness, not going to lie i may have shed a couple tears during the vid. You look like you all brought so much joy to their little hearts. So proud of you all (even though i only know B-rad. he's my big cuz and one of my best friends) haha. Good job on the video as well, i enjoyed it! Cheers!
