Interesting piece of trivia. Whenever the original / TNG cast had to simulate an impact on the ship, the camera would wobble, and the actors would pretend to fall. For Galaxy Quest they built the bridge set on a platform that could rock back and forth. Some of the actors found it genuinely terrifying, and were actually injured when it was operated. So a lot of the reactions we're seeing are probably, at least partially, propelled by realism.

Without a doubt this film is way better than a lot of science-fiction movies - and that includes a bunch of the Star Trek movies. A shame this didn't a heap of awards. Plus ya gotta love those Termites.
