  • how could anyone break up with you??

you are very beautiful and nice yoko ^^

  • I've been depressed for 7 months now...

And the fact that I've gained weight as a result of comfort-eating didn't make things any better... lol ^^'

I still feel down... I really want to be the happy me I used to be....

  • @MyThiNg94 awww im sorry to hear that :( i know how you feel, i used to eat a lot too to make me feel better X0 it might take some time but remember, this wont last forever :) as for me, when i changed my foods to no carbo at night and nutritious veggies i felt a lot better. but if its in your thoughts somehow i gotta make a vid to convert your thinking style >D tee heee. i really hope you will feel better soon, which i know you will :D

  • @randomyoko yes i used to cry all the time.... because of a boy~

so my story is a little like yours. But still not, because what i struggle about NOW is not the boy, but my weight :S i know i'm not fat but i keep think that way, and that makes my everyday life very hard.. negative thinking kills me, srsly o.O

Thank you for your understanding and support, i appreciate a lot ^^

Yeah, please make a vid about that plss!! hihihih

  • I know this is an old video, but if you're ever feeling down like that again, feel free to message me here- don't worry, I'm a teen like you^.^

  • ha,he is cute :)

  • my own depression was severe and i was on prozac several years. My recovery was through a process of forgiving parents (i needed Christ's help for this), uncovering the lies which i believed about myself, others, and God (needed a good counselor's help for this), and giving a lot of my pain to Christ (this is a method of therapy Christians sometimes use). Now I am off meds for 8 years and have occasional mild depression which is improving as i continue in this work. i pray 4 people in Japan.

  • I think you are the first Japanese person I've ever heard talk about depression let alone having it. I know the common stereotype is that alot of people in Japan have depression, but I think people in Japan have as much depression as any other country, its just that as you said its not accepted really well and so many people don't get the help they need. Having said that I really admire you Yoko for sharing this, I've had my share of depression too and going it alone must have been really hard.

  • You have alot to learn about depression. A relationship broken isn't depression but just an emotional sadness. Live everyday of your life with depression due to all of your surroundings, family BS, physical and mental abuse, and you'll know depression. And become numb to life after a while as that becomes a way of life. And becomes normal.

  • @MeReDefined i know what a depression is. the breaking up was only a trigger. my problem had nothing to do with what i went through.

  • @randomyoko Sorry, I was just venting. Didn't mean to upset you.

  • Isn't it very rare for japanese people to open up like that?

  • I really admire you.. I've heard a lot about depression and society in Japan. I think that is one thing that needs to change. Stay strong!

  • @Emidretrauqe Some drugs ARE very dangerous but i wouldn't say they are all bad... Those drugs saved my dad's life.. It's a matter of findin the right one because before he was taking the wrong kind that was recommended and it made him go crazy.....

  • let u know when u play pacman when the ghost are all blue you can eat them.

  • as for the acceptance of depression, maybe certain people would understand. Like, for some reason >__> people always put up this defense when they're around other peopel so they won't be considered strange or weird. I don't really care what people think anymore, it gets boring worrying about what other people think of you. and if a friend of mines would've told me they were going through depression lol i would look on google for how to help with a person with depression lol

  • ah, yeah, I've read about green tea before. it also said some stuff about it having caffine in it, so I don't really drink the ones with caffine. My mom wants to lose weight and i told her she should drink green tea. She did, but put sugar in i .__. which defeats the point of the healthyness xD.. and are you better btw? o.o omg! I would totally hang out with you lol if you're random, then I would hang out with you. When peopel are predictable, it's kind of boring >__>

  • If your 555, then I'm 666, what's it like to be a heretic !

Damn darn, you got good taste. That songs the best.

  • What do you recommend to learn the japanese language? I already know spanish. SO the second language barrier is gone. Any tips?

  • how sad

  • I love watching your video's..and I'm glad your feeling better now! *hug*

  • Well pass this advice on to anyone you know who suffers from depression:

DO NOT TAKE THE DRUGS THEY TELL YOU TO TAKE FOR IT. Side effects for mood-changing drugs are always the worst and most dangerous kind.

  • @Emidretrauqe That is soooo TRUE!!!

  • I understand what your talking about, sometimes i wake up and nothing is good, unfortunately i am introverted and i like to be alone so that doesn't help :S But i am in university now and it has opened my eyes to something bigger and better. I love rain though, i am instantly in a good mood when it rains :).

  • Rainy days used to make me feel terrible when I was going through deep depression, but it's become soothing over time. I've always tried to find beauty in things in belief that it'd keep me positive.

  • Wow, that's a great video.

I went through a time like that once after I came to Japan - but four hours every day for years... wow.

One day I'll make a vlog about it, but I'm not sure I'm ready for it yet. I'm really impressed with your openness on this.

Green tea and natto - cures almost anything :)

    Peace

  • This chick is amazingly real...

Go you Yoko, keep being awesome

  • What's the name of the song that's playing at 1:27? Is that Zektbach?

  • Good blog!

  • Your story reminds me a lot of Hideaki Anno, and how you studied psychology, and put your depression to a creative use. Fan of Evangelion? :)

  • Sorry Yoko, I was away on a cruise to the Bahama's. I missed you and you have me to talk with if your ever feeling sad and a little down. We all care about you and are cheering you on as you go along. You are a sweet adorable young lady so please don't worry about your looks your very pretty without make up. I have rained tears a few times myself. You have us as family it happens here a lot and talking with others helps ease the burden please cheer up Yoko or you will bring tears to my eyes.

  • it was torture to see so many tasty stuff xD

I'm very happy you overcame depression :3

  • It's your self-irony the best weapon against depression. Despite the fact that you have an uncommon beauty, you know how to make fun of yourself. That's a rare thing, especially among girls.

Oh, and btw, i think you are even cuter when you wear glasses ;)

  • Your English is very good.

  • Miffy is from my country :D loved it when I was little. The Dick Bruna house is close to my school.

  • WHAT???? when you say "significant other" do you mean soul mate or just another boyfriend?

  • some things in the live sometime sucks, but you don't give up, you are a fun girl and, like i always say you are so beautiful, come on to smile. your colombian friend.GRETTINGS SINCE COLOMBIA

  • Rainy days make me happy because without water all life on this plant cease to exist. It washes out all contaminates pollen, dust, smoke etc. and lightning creates ozone and ionizes (purifies) the air. I guess I'm just strange though.

  • Wow, i feel sorry for u Yoko. The more i know about u the more i see how we are simulair in a way. Right now im not feeling good at all. But yeah, ur awesome for daring to talk about it. I dont even dare to show my face or talk about anything. T_T

  • Depression is a mental condition that most people underestimate. It negatively effects your entire life. It's great that you overcame your depression and shows courage on your part to announce it over YouTube.

  • Depression is a condition which affects so many people. I'm happy to hear that things are better lately. Please remember that you are not alone in this and many people (including me) appreciate your courage in opening up and sharing. ~Kurt :-)

  • I'm sorry to hear that Yoko. I would come over japan and preform my happy dance to cheer you up.

  • Best ever! <3

  • Then I'm 666. ~~ I have chronic depression.

Why isn't is accepted? ~~ I love rain and storms. I dance around outside, and jump in puddles. :D:D

  • Yoko you are naturally beautiful!

  • I know what you mean... All my friends in school where Japanese and Korean.. so they all had to leave and I was so sad... :'(

  • Rainy days piss me off too.

I really like sunny and hot days.

But now, after the depression, you are fine right? ^^ I hope so.

    Kiss (K) \m/

  • @9:00--"rainy days kinda get me down"

    watch?v=dPmbT5XC-q0

    if i were a Carpenter.....lol.

  • Why is it not accepted in Japan to go to those places? Over here in Canada if you go to those places people support you to death.!

  • Hey, interesting video :)

Actually I've heard that it's pretty difficult to see a therapist/psychologist in Japan? Like i dunno if this is a stereotype, but I heard that japanese people tend to keep their problems to themselves and not unload on their friends?

Anyways like us brits say "keep a stiff upper lip" :)

  • While visiting friends in Nagoya, our train was delayed because someone committed suicide by jumping on the tracks in front of a train. One of my friends said that this in a common event in Japan. I think the Japanese work too hard and forget how to enjoy life. We should spend more time playing with children and staring at clouds.

  • While visiting friends in Nagoya our train was delayed because someoneth

Oh and btw, can you show your keyboard, saw a little of it, but can you show it? Does It looks the same as american keyboard ?

  • @MissWeerdo you can see in my music channel. and i do need contacts, otherwise id be blind lol

  • @randomyoko I first want to say, you're gorgeous, I would love to go out with you , but your on the other side of the world, lol. I would like to be facebook, or my space friends ,if you want? please send my a link to you my space ,sense we're friends on You Tube ^_^.

  • Hi I can not find you on Facebook by thy name, and nothing looks "randomyoko '

  • @BMWPolskax theres a link on my profile here

  • I agree with everyone here, you are brave and strong to be very open about it. It is hard to tell if someone suffers depression, they generally don't show it on the outside. All the best Yoko, you have our support and admiration!

Adding randomness to uploading vids is fine too (that way you can rest/relax/live/work in between :D) :-)

  • Ohayo Gozaimasu. Lol xD If they are blue you are supposed to catch them :D Wow 666 views at 2:35 When I broke up with my ex-girlfriend I wasn't sad :) We just became friends then. I'm almost never sad. I have been very depressed several times though, I really didn't know what to do and I wanted to talk about it with people, but they don't understand me, even my mother. It was very difficult :) I also cryed :P Even very smart an clever people can get derpessed and stuff. I <3 psychology!

    \m/

    x

  • @deogrou And philosophy. And I'm 13 years old :P I knew it was stupid to be depressed and stuff, but it was just so hard :D It went away after a while. There's no need to be depressed, mad or sad. Happiness for the win!

    x

  • I've experienced depression and its interesting how much the person means to you after they are gone... I think there is some chemical reaction in the brain when you are with someone and once that gets cut off its quite painful.

  • i like your not random vids lol =D

  • Nomnomnommm!! You made me hungry!!

We all go through depression at least once in our life :(

    You dont need makeup!!! :)

  • It's hard when people around you can't tell the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist. But most times, you don't really need a certified psychologist... all you need is someone to talk to, that will actually listen to what you have to say with patience and provide you with an opinion on what you said, and someone that you can trust won't tell everyone else what you talked to him/her about.

  • @sauron1grenoble i think the trick is people dont know what real depression is. people start worrying about their life etc and feel sad and stuff, but that is not depression, counselling helps in that case like you said. depression though comes out of how you were raised, your experiences in childhood, and how your body functions etc and breakup/death are only its trigger.

  • You have an interesting accent. My wife, who is Japanese, has a British accent. Yours seems like it's from Holland... am I right? Is that weird??

  • @yokohamaguy75 what lol thats funny cuz you specified the country XD people usually think ive got american accent. i dont know. i learned american english anyway.

  • You can also eat matcha sweets!!! ^_^

Sorry about your depression, take care! xxx

  • You sound like your depression is better! it is horrible to be so sad and hope your feeling better, It is hard when your family does not believe your pain! It is always darkest before dawn! heal your self is the best. Keep positive!

  • thanks for sharing with us. you should continue to do so. the days will go by better eventually and you'll find happiness in the future as we bless you the best of it. as for him you'll find someone better in the future.

  • you look beautiful without make up.

  • If you drink Itoen Green Tea, chilled, once a day, you're going to feel Subarashi Genki...yo.

  • @MargaritasAntesPorco itoen lol

  • rainy days...

  • Thanks for sharing, Yoko. I have been having similar problems recently and have been just trying to get over them. It is really courageous that you were open to talk to your fans about that problem. I hope you are doing well!

  • i have been depressed most of the times few years in the past which is NOT good. that is why i spend time on my computer, exercise every day, and i also listen a lot of music of all kinds. i do not have friends either and unfortunately i am not a lucky guy with girls. i wear glasses like you so don't worry, i have problems with my eyesight. i did not search for a doctor's help, just made my mine clear the consequences if i get depress so much that can harm me.

you are not alone and take care

  • Hey just so you know I think you've done a great job overcoming your depression. I'm glad that you are better now and I hope that you won't be hurt again in the future.

P.S. seeing the foods in your vids always makes me hungry..LOL

  • hmm i should drink green tea then hope you are having a nice sunday cutie

  • There is an old saying "Do you why it's called depression? because it is "depressing" it feels like a hole is shot through your heart. It will slowly close up over time, and then one day the load won't feel so heavy, but then the wind wil blow, or you will here a song and the hole will tear wide open again. but it heals back faster each time. I though of that when I was hearing you talk.

  • When I was 23 I hurt my knee, killed my car & my first love broke up with me. I told my mum I was going to kill myself. My surfing career was just getting started, I'd been in a couple of movies & I was doing well. I couldn't walk & was drinking a lot, so I crashed my car. My girlfriend got sick of me, so we broke up. Mum gave me a good indication of how I'd hurt other people if I died. I focused on music & eventually got over it. Life sucks at times, but don't worry you are a very cool person!

  • @MicknFumi This may read strange but sometimes the text count can really limit what you want to say...but anyway if you ever just want to chat feel free to PM me...you can feel assured I'm not some guy just trying to seduce you...I'm very happily married to Fumi...but I went through some tough times before we married & I can relate to what your saying...seriously though, I think you will be ok...your obviously a very intelligent young lady!

  • the best thing you can do is live for you

  • Depression is like any other emotion we humans have. We are should be happy some years sad some years, depressed some years. If we are able to make it through the bad times we appreciate the good times in life.

I was married for 16 years before my wife left me. I was depressed for 3 years, but now I am moving on with my life. In all things this to shall pass"

  • this was a great video. you're very brave for sharing these things with everyone. Sorry to hear about your hard times, glad you're doing better. You're a very likable person with a lot of talent and very beautiful so you should have no problem finding new boyfriend in the future.

  • wow nice yoko, i really appreciate that u shared something so important to as. I think that making videos like this will help u a lot with the depression. Im depresses lots of times but is something that everybody have to live with so I try to not think about depression that much.

Have a good night, here is 10.30 pm so... i dont think that i will go to sleep haha

    Bye Bye, take care.

  • We are all lone wolves... but when we need each other the pack comes together.. or the Youtube pack at least. ^_^

  • The same stereotype is placed on people here in America as well that visit / admitted into a mental hospital or receiving therapy. People simply don't want to get involved with those individuals & employers may pass you up for hire or promotion should such information become known. To me depression is a sickness of the soul not the mind, but thats just my opinion.

  • cheer up, Yoko.

  • "I'm a lone wolf..."

Reminds me of Alan form: The Hangover.

  • The suffering we go through in our lives is God's way of preparing us for the time that we might be of use to others.

  • you can eat the ghosts when they're all blue! i love pacman too!

it was brave of you to be so open. it's can be really hard to be that honest with yourself and other people. i know i appreciate your candidness. thanks!

  • Lol.. Yay for old slipknot ;P More randomness.. I don't know if I can handle anymore..! Who am I kidding.. I'll watch as long as you keep posting :) Hope Tokyo continues to have beautiful weather so you stay the cheerful random self that we love ;D

  • You still look great without make up lol

  • Comment removed

  • Wow Yoko I can't believe you told us all that, thankyou! That took a lot of courage! I was severely depressed most of my life even though I had most things that should make you happy, girlfriends, friends etc. And I just one day deceided that i'm going to die naturally anyways so I might as well appreciate life and live as long as I can and since then my life has been wonderful. P.S. You look pretty even without makeup, women around the world are now even more jealous of you haha

  • Thank you for the video Yoko. I'm glad you were able to share things like this, with the world no less. I think this shows much courage as well as signs that you have gotten over the worst of your depression if not all of it. Hope things continue to go well for you :)

  • aw kind of a saddening story, but its nice to know your out of it

when u get involved in with other people and u know u r making them happy it makes u happy; youtube

  • "...then you're 666. what's it like to be a heretic!?!" =]

  • I've heard that psychological problems are stigmatised in Asia in general. Then you hear about some person going berserk and knifing strangers or something. It's almost as though these few people crack up, acting out for the community at large, as though they are acting as the pressure release valve of the collective unconscious.

  • I get what you mean about the type of hospital, people are ignorant and think if you go to get some support from an unusual place that is generalised in a bad way then people will gossip.

Im having good time and glad to see your all happy now =] Oh poop just looked at the time and its 4am for me ekk *rushes to bed*

  • Nice video. I have had depression for a while too. Probably for 6-7 years, or longer. Not because of a break up or anything, but because my father died in 2003 but possibly before that too.

Reading, going out (photography, biking, smiling), and doing things often surpasses it. Though, I only wish time would slow down once enjoyment has been achieved.

Check out Eckhart Tolle. Also: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig (not sure if you'll be into it).

    Green Tea FTW.

  • That Slipknot song? If I didn't grow up with my friends on my street, I really would not have any friends. I had real BAD social anxiety so being around alot of people gave me panic attacks. I don't know why! School was so hard for this. This is not as bad anymore. I was just recently really depressed, but I set goals for myself. One of them is going to Japan. I want this so badly, if I fail...I don't know..

  • Random video upload, how will I survive? :O Well I'm of to bed too, here it's 04.39 in the morning. Good Night! :)

  • It takes a lot of strength to tell the world you have depression like you just did. Congratulations and keep working to get better. I always like watching your vlogs and hope you continue.
