@ChappoCrothers The wah settings are horrible to get right. It must have taken me about 18 months of tweaking to finally get it sounding ok. It takes absolutely miniscule turns of the pots to make massive changes in sound so be careful as you're doing it. Trial and error I'm afraid !
I'm sure if you look at a Cort A4 you might find that the two basses are pretty much identical apart from the funk-wah switch. I'm sure they've got the same Bartolini Mk1 pickups and three band eq section anyway.
There's been a few FM models over the years, I've seen ones without the little graphics emblem on the front... they made weird silver ones for a while too. I think this one is a 'version #1'
Cort workers are essentially slaves. Look at my video about it or search "Cort Guitar slavery"
Cort provides parts to so many major American guitar brands, and the first step to stopping the mistreatment of these workers is awareness. Help put a stop to slavery world wide.
As far as I can remember I didn't use the switch for this demo. The wah switch is a bit of a strange one, I find it too boomy... and for that single reason tend not to use it. Whether it's affected by the slap switch... I'm not sure.... I'll try it and get back to you. It should only alter the eq of what your hearing though.
I own one of these basses, probably the cheapest bass that I own but I think it's great. Good value for money.
The only thing I think is sh!t is the built in effects. They seem to sound good on this video but I find them to be too distorted on my bass even with the bass and volume down low.
I know what you mean about the effects. Seriously it took me about 2 years to get mine right. The controls on the back are stupidly sensitive and there seems to be a 'sweet spot' where it sounds just right. Either side of that and it sounds shit like you say !
sounds lovely. although i certainly can't give the bass all that credit, your playing is superb. haven't picked up my bass in a month but after viewing this i think i'll have a whack at her.
You've showed what bass you have, but what amp/effects pedals do you use? (besides the envelopes with that come on the bass) BTW love the videos the tone you get out of your basses is amazing.
Hard to believe that's a Cort. Their stuff was fairly cheap back in the '80's. They were the first company that I saw that employed on on-board internal multi-effects circuit in some of their electric guitars. You could get distortion, phaser, chorus,(just guessing here about what was actually used) Anyway.....the Funkmachine bass sounds pretty good here.
cort makes proper stuff. Easily the best bang for your buck eh. Sound profesional, looks profesional but you can take it on tour and not have to worry as much.
No you can't. I have this bass too (you can check out my videos) and the switch which deactivates the EQ is a slap-contour switch. It makes the perfect slap tone, many lows, lesser mids, and many highs.
One switch position is all eq flat, the other is what ever you want it to be via the control knobs. It's not a true passive mode as such 'cos it doesn't work without the battery. Slap contour switch ? Well, possibly, or you could use it for volume gain/cut etc.
Nah, the EQ isn't flat, mate. As you noticed, you can't use this bass without a battery. EQ on, or slap contour.
You can adjust the slap contour on the backside with the ''Slap Depth'' screw. You can adjust the boost (which also means the volume). But it's darn good bass - you agree?
Ha ha, you know what, you're bloody right you know ! I've had this bass about 5 years and didn't realise that, duh :o) I'm off to play about with that !! Cracking bass, neck shape is wonderful.
i am using ur bass lessons to improve my bass playing..i appreciate ur simple approach to lessons..ne advice on how to improve grammar and technique wud be appreciated...so ne suggestions wud b great
Dunno really just some improvised bass line playes around Eb minor 7 I think. I don't read music and I don't really do that much tab stuff either to be honest. Completely self taught, I think that learn to play with your ears is far more important than learning to play with your fingers !
@far0n any tips on adjusting the slap contour and funk wah settings on the back of the guitar. Yours sounds really good.

@far0n - do you mean the Cort Artisan or Cort Action?
Unfortunately Cort Artisan is sold out at the moment. actually I love that Funk-wah switch ;-)
perimest 10 months ago
@perimest
The Artisan ones, they have a slightly different bridge and through body stringing but essentially the same bass.

They're not exactly common, I got mine on ebay. It may also be worth checking the french, german and italian versions of ebay. :o)
