No, it wasn't Neku nor Joshua who got hit by a car. It was Beat and Rhyme who got hit by a car. Rhyme was chasing after Beat, and ran out into the street while a car was coming. Beat dived in front to protect Rhyme, but they both got hit and were sent to the UG. However, Shiki's best friend Eri mentions that Shiki died in an accident. Joshua never died, and Neku was shot and murdered.
