To BitchinKitchenOnline: I've bought olive oil from Trader Joe's that isn't extra virgin, but I don't think it says "virgin" either. Do you know if/think it's chemically treated? Thank you!

If you go to the TJ's website and add "how-to/olive-oil.asp#2" to the link and hit enter, they describe the oils and what they sell, but not in a way that describes the oils they sell.
I've always steered away from cooking with extra virgin out of "wasting" its quality with heat, and so stuck to using it for salad dressings and for bread-dipping. xoxo!

my son (19) was using mineral oil on his face and I told him to use olive oil because it's safer. thanks for the explanation of olive oils and pumice. the frolicking sounds fun.
You can use almond oil on your face easier because it is a thinner oil. That removes make up really well, but then follow up with a cleanser. Then splash a mix of water & apple cider vinegar to balance the PH level . And then a wee bit of oil as a moisturizer if you face is dry. Or use oil free lotion if it is oily.
Yup. It can get pretty pricey, but sooo worth it. I use it for everything except deep frying. Panos on the other hand won't even fry an egg in extra-virgin, he uses it exclusively for drizzling and salads... XONG

I don't recommend using olive oil for tanning or frying, but it's excellent for roasting spuds. Even better when you stick onions and garlic in it.
