I understand it is a cartoon but I dislike that Egyptian religion is depicted as if magic was practised there. It was never the case. Moreover, many scholars have come to conclusion that Egyptian religion was monotheistic.
@gingerisevil02 Moses was not the prophet.Exodus3v15-16,Exodus7v1 And the LORD said unto Moses, see, I have made thee a god to Pharoah: and Aaron thy brother shall be they prophet. Read these scriptures.
@Anastasia467able Exodus4v22-23 And thou shalt say unto Pha'raoh, Thus saith the LORD, Is'ra-el is my son, even my firstborn:v23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
Moses: turns the Nile THE LARGEST RIVER IN THE WORLD into blood with just his staff those two guys: just put red powder into a bowl of water yeah,,,,that shows that Egyptian gods are superior
To Ramses slaves were less than human, plus the Pharaoh believed himself to be a god(according to Egyptian tradition), hence his stubbornness and arrogance. Also its their culture to have slaves, kind of how before Martin Luthor King showed up,African-Americans and other minorities were consider lower-class, Moses was basically going against the Entire system of things in egypt, a sort of radical, which is why he starts to go all REVENGE and KILL them all later in the film,
favor Ramses over Moses. Moses comes off to me as an ungrateful child, who abandoned his family. By the depiction of this film, Moses could have actually avoided all of this. It wouldn't have been hard to appeal to Ramses. What he needed to say was "Free the jews, we can be a family again!" and I have a feeling Ramses would have went for it. His personal wants were to gain back his brothers affections and attentions, Moses could have just used that to his advantage.
@JessicaUzumaki Thats true. Moses grew up in that family, he didn't necessary have to pick them or the slaves. He should love them, be bound to them. It's not like they neglected him. He still could have completed his aims. Rameses and his father are bound to royal tradition, they weren't really evil.
@JessicaUzumaki I think even if he had gone in there all nice, once the thing about freeing the slaves came up it would go to hell. Just like Ramses said, he did not want to be the weak link. Coz to Ramses and the dad, they were less than people. They were just slaves. Which is what Moses thought as well before he realized he was one of them.
I feel so badly for Ramses! I think this could have been avoided. He lost his brother and desperately wanted him back. I mean, in the beginning of the film, they were inseperable. Hell, Ramses was probably hoping for him to be there for his son, as well. Ramses is stuck in a family of tradition, same with his father. Although they seem like bad people, they're really just following what they've been taught. It's not unlike a child who becomes an alcoholic because his father was. I personally
i love the fact that unlike the ten commandments moses and ramises were actually close and brother like and that inside it did torture moses to hit them with the plagues and kill ramises kid and destroy innocent people
moses turned a whole bay into blood with a stick and they thing they are just as power because they turned probaly a quart of water into blood with some red powder.wait its not even real blood.HE USED RED POWDER
@mothmangotango I don't know if you have every read the story of Moses from the Bible but let me tell you that this movie is the clostest you could get to the real thing and saying that the Bible is messed up offense me because I am a Christian. This is a really good movie and I love it!
The music and animation are incredible, truly classic, but the message of the story is disturbing. God wants to deliver His people, so He smites all of Egypt (poor Gentile kids who faced His wrath), then He sends those people to a land where they ethnically cleanse every last man, woman, child, and goat (i.e. the Amalekites) to settle there ... oh, and to top it off, God allows the Hebrews to keep their own slaves in Israel. Such a god is obviously man-made.
@nyscholartist it wasn't Moses' intent.....it was unfortunately....those who gained power....i mean..Moses did ask to let his people go on a number of occasions, but ya...idk why they all had to be killed in order to free the hebrews...kinda like how i dont know why we had drop the bomb on hiroshima to stop Japan..it makes sense...but it seems so cruel...idk...where does one draw the line of justice vs in-justice? idk..
@nyscholartist The only part of the story you just told that is expressed in the movie is the smiting of Egypt. In that scene in the film, it's made clear that the reason God visits his wrath on Egypt is because of Rameses' failure to listen to Moses, and Moses expresses immense regret that it has come to such destruction. Although I agree that the Bible is messed up, I don't think the message of this film is at all.
I just noticed after all these years that the blood around Moses is around him, almost like an aura @10:02 (I'm not a big scholar on Bible teachings so I'm not sure it if was referencing something from that.)
The only thing is, in the scriptures, god told Moses to meet Aaron in the desert. Aaron was Moses spoke person, because moses was slow of speech. Moses also told him what to do with the staff through god. Moses was the prophet but Aaron did the acts (most) and the talking.
It's funny the way we try to help our own ppl and own ppl will turn on us whether we were good or bad in the past and did a u turn for teh better and betterment of our ppl the oppress.....they turn turn and cuss u out
When I first watched this film I felt bad for Jews, but also for Ramses. He was just dumped by his surogate brother for people Ramses bearly care about.
I would like to point out that yes it is an interpretation of a bible story but its a story none the less like the countless movies based on Greek gods, you don't have to believe it to enjoy it. The bible is a book of tales compiled together, it isnt actually based on reason, logic or fact.
people. . . .watch the damn movie!! musicals and stupid names dont matter, its the story that matters. plus, some of these songs are pretty damn cool.
@Lisa300591 Read the Bible recently? That whole "When You Believe" reprise at the end, when the crowd sings in Hebrew? That's canon. Miriam led the people in that same song as they traveled from the Red Sea to Midian. Biblical figures frequently break into song. David's whole life was a Broadway musical.
@Lisa300591 they put music in it for smaller kids to keep them intrested... it is still a powerful biblical story but it is more for children and explain to them the story... and its dreamworks not disney smart one..
@Jayrobin7 And I like that. Better than letting kids see films like Gibson's Passion of the Christ which was a horrible bloodbath that doesnt really give any message other than "Gibson is fucked up."
@Lisa300591 its dreamworks, not disney, and its aimed at younger kids to explain the musical to them, i agree playing with big boys now??? stupid song, but if you dont like it - dont watch it!!
@chessbaron ''if i don't like it don't watch it'' hmm- sounds kinda rude to me..well remember when someone watches something and does not like it, that's okay, because how would they know what not to like if they don't watch it?..so that comment was kinda pointless.
@Lisa300591 it a movie for kids if it was a documantary i dont think many 5 year olds would want to see it THINK i mean they want to make money so you got to grab attention stupid

I agree. Ramses truly loved Moses, very dearly, and he was
willing to do a lot to have his brother back; he was just bearing
the weight. If I were a Pharoh, my choices would have
been limited. You can tell that Ramses's spite and evil grew
from the grief of Moses decision and motive to return.
