I seriously have no idea what anybody is talking about when they say SL lags so bad for them. I'm constantly in areas with 50+ people all in one room and my framerate never drops. I have particles and everything on as well, so i don't see how its so far fetched that the team was able to create this video with that many avatars around.

lag and framerate-problems are two different things, really...

framerate-issues are usually called frame-lag, while lag is how much time it takes from sending a request till you get a responce from the server. also called latency or ping.

lag is when characters may act "strange"; like walking a few feet, then suddenly appear somewhere else, moving in another direction. if you have a crappy dsl, you see it all the time in WoW...

I agree, if only things rezzed that fast in the REAL SL, without having to be in some abandoned sim.

And Beheading with blod spray, nifty again. Though when I swing my sword or fire my guns it only knocks the target in question around a bit. Eva- You didn't read Torley's tooltip about getting rid of the HUD for making machinima. Maybe they did that, though it brings up the question of how in the hell they navigated and chatted the rest of the show.

This is a complete fabrication and glossing over of what SL is really like. Things don't rez that fast; you couldn't have that many people in an area and not have the fighters lag to death; and I'm pretty sure you can't cut people's heads off. How often did they crash or lag to death in the episode? My guess is they didn't. Who wants to see that right? But it's everyday "life" in SL.

They DON'T. The animation for this must've been rendered to look generally like SL, unless Linden Labs gave the producers a local server setup to run it all on.

I get around 30 FPS on average in second Life enough to make my own machima. I Don't know your computer stats, but you need a pretty good setup to run at a very decent frames per second.

Secondlife for those who do not know , is a game which if you have patience you can do anything and everything in , It is a great learning curve for people who want to do scripting such as (++) ect , and many people have got jobs from sl , people making millions from it.

If watching this made you think "hey, 2nd life looks kinda cool!" thats because none of what you saw will occur ingame. 2nd life is nothing but a sad and extremely poor attempt at a 'The Sims' mmog.

This is worse than NCIS and their WoW episode.

The places you see in SL of CSI NY exist, otherwise they couldn´t use it. Special SL builder build it. And when the serie is comlete eveyone else can enter the Areas.
