  • Im so excited, my first phone was a Nokia, all my phones had been Nokia, until I got an iPhone. I can't wait to switch back to the most amazing phones on earth, and HOT windows phone software

  • This is not a producer led market - its a consumer led market. The same developers are going to be porting over to Android. Why would consumers pay a premium for Windows 7 mobile? It doesn't make sense.

  • What they should have done is created a app x-compiler for Symbian.

I am sure it's great for developers to work with MS products, but ditching Symbian was a disaster IMO.

  • i think it is a massive plus for nokia, switching to WP7. as an iOS developer, i was thinking whether to port to android or WP7 next. with this nokia adoption of WP7, i actually am considering going to WP7 before android. android has no standard screen size, is fragmented, and in all honest, doesn't have that smooth of a user experience.

at the end of the day, nokia makes money from selling hardware. and, they have always made the best hardware. kudos to them for making a good hard decision.

  • Lots of these devs talk but how many of them will actually commit? The move basically releases the developers and once they are "free" they get time to reassess where do they want to go iOS, Android or WP7, don't expect them all to go WP7

They will also have to learn Silverlight.

  • A more honest approach would've been, putting a video with the developers that weren't too fond of this change too... I have my doubts these stories are representative of the developer community....

  • @Crlsn You make a perfectly valid point. When we shot these videos at Barcelona, we spoke with various people. Nokia Developers, non-Nokia Developers, bloggers, etc. We did not get one negative interview. We did get a view neutral ones, but overwhelming they were positive. This is not to say that there are developers out there not 100% pleased with the news. Far from the truth. I noticed that some preferred not to say anything on film, which I would assume would have been a negative comment.

  • This will not promote Nokia. Any game or app you make for Nokia you make for Phone 7. And Nokia is far from the only player in the Phone 7 market.

Nokia joins the ranks with Samsung, HTC, Ericson, Acer etc. RIM and HP have a much better position with their own unique Phone OS.

  • Every person included in this video are developers that are external developers. @1:17, Runtastic, @1:42, WURFL, @2:20, Snaptu, @2:53, Herocraft, @3:12, Impetus, @3:53, Entupalma, @4:26, Mobilizy. So I am not sure what you mean by speaking with people who are external to Nokia. All of the mentioned above are external, non-Nokia developers. These stories are honest and genuine. Stay tuned for more similar stories from our developers around the globe.

  • every single microsoft related video is trolled on youtube by morons like lin545... now this is fact.

  • Every single company that partnered microsoft has been either merged into it, or went bankrupt. Every single OS from microsoft was garbage and was preinstalled - that is a secret sause to microsoft success. But now there is Google to fry your fat.

  • It's also very intreresting that they didn't interview any _internal_ Nokia developers, but only third-party companies.

  • @petas874 why should they? Nokia external would be better, Nokia internal already made the decision
