  • buck ownes is one of the best country singers of all time. and i love all of his songs i cant pick a favorite one all of bucks songs a great. i dnt knw what happened to country music in the past 8 years but they need to take some pointers from merle buck both greoge's conway and waylon maybe then county music can come back a kik this pop country out for good.

  • I just sent this to a friend who found out the guy shes been dating on and off for years went to virginia and married some girl. is that a mean thing to do?

  • buck owens is awesome this is some real country music the solo at 1:13 is awesome

buck owens and the Buckaroos awesome

  • I remember pickin this song at Cooks Oasis in Victor New York. Jerry Johnson had the steel part down perfect along with Norm Crouse Sharon Green, And myself we had the best time kicking out those great country songs back in the sixties.

  • If you want to hear them at their best, listen to the "Carnegie Hall" album. They never miss a single note, vocally or instrumentally! Buck, Don, and Tom are incredible, and Willie and Doyle are outstanding. Heard them in El Paso in 1967 at the Coliseum, and they played for four straight hours without taking a break! You won't see any big name group do that today........

  • How old was Don here? 25?

  • When I think of Buck, I think of Don.

What a tragic Death Don had. I agree with somones post that

Buck never recovered from Don's Death. rip.....so missed.

  • Buckaroos should have their own section in the Hall of Fame. They changed everything. Of course that section should include Don Rich, Ralph Mooney, James Burton and everyone that contributed to the sound.

  • Amazon has Don's anthology also. Got it and it is great. Lots more than I have seen on youtube.

  • What an absolute man of music. He is the greatest and I know he is missed very much. I sure do miss him. He hits the mark every song he sings or plays. I am glad I found how to order his music. Ebay has abouut anything you can think of. I can see why Buck said when Don died he lost his righ arm. What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man. Bucks death was a great loss. He was a legend in his time. Heaven must be full of country singers. Thanks guys and I hope I get to meet you in Heaven.

  • I agree with you that Don should be in hall of fame. He is a great and talanted man. I guess he was happy to be Buck's back up and play his music and songs. It is a shame singers have to be gone to really be appreciated. Gone but never forgotten. We all love you Don.

  • Deborah, Don is the singer with Buck and the lead guitar

  • Andy Astro...you hear this?

  • to answer your long over due question, Don is in Blue.

  • sometimes if Im feelin blue I go to utube and look up Don and Buck just like today . . .reminds me of growing up and watching them on Saturday nights . . .love you guys . . . one day I hope too see you both in that wondrous place called eternal home . .

  • @mercedes560sel I know the feeling. There's a family doing a buck dance that never fails to cheer me up. Buck and Don do, too.

  • rhinestones runnin on a duracell. this is what country is supposed to be

  • great!

  • we could all do with more country like this, just not the outfits. HA! Thumbs up if you change the station when they play sugarland!

  • @vaginagas

Anyone who would turn the station on an incredible talent like Jennifer Nettles is an idiot. Keep listening to your 4 songs over and over and keep hating on new stuff. Buck is my all-time favorite but they didn't stop making rock when Buddy Holly and Elvis died. But I can see by your name you are just some dumb kid anyways...

  • @CanAm85 Thanks for the unprovoked insult very "adult" of you. I like the assumptions you make of me because you know me so well. Jennifer Nettles is a moose who sings through her nose, and for the life of me I don't know why she is famous. Oh wait the rap she does on stuck like glue is genius. Now Patsy Cline, however, she has talent, so soes Jason Aldean, so soes Carrie Underwood. new country is country that's all. I'm a dumb kid huh? Well if it makes you feel good so be it. God Bless! XOXO

  • @vaginagas Excuse me, new country ISN'T country. That's what happens when you get in a hurry while typing!

  • The way their harmonies bend and pitch and dip and rise by microtonics in unison...its a blend one doesnt hear of very often.... Beach boys and Eagles in modern music are the only ones who come to mind with that sort of acurate blend. Just hard to find voices that lock together that seamlessly....certainly nothing ith the last 20 years.

  • @Vinnybrain No doubt. This Bakersfield style country was a major influence on both the bands you mention. Gotta love it.

  • no words to describe pure artistry... the art of the pop song still exists but in limited circles

  • His real name was Ulrich. I had known Don since I was ten years old. He worked for my Dad. I'm 63 now and to date I have still not met a nicer human being than Don. He was a Prince.

  • I agree, Buck never had the same sound after Don was killed.

  • Very Nice strong harmony ...

  • how is don rich not in the country hall of fame??? "modern" country guitar players owe don rich all that they have.

  • @diabolusme bUCK OWENS TAUGHT DON HOW TO PLAY GUITAR..READ THE NEW ISSUE OF VINTAGE GUITAR OR CHECK OUT THERE ARTICLE ON BUCK AND DON ONLINE A VINTAGE GUITAR.COM

AND I AGREE HALL OF FAMEFOR SURE

  • The harmony is incredible. Perfect.

  • Whew! Too bad God only made one of each of 'em! What talent ! !

  • 1 Person Got Fooled

  • These guys were great!!

  • are those nudie suits f-n awesome

  • don rich should be in the hall of fame.

  • @baldy194859

Danerous Don should have gone in with Buck the year he went in and even Buck himself said that. These two have THE best harmony in the history of country music.

  • @baldy194859 I'll drink to that! One of the best sidemen in country music, better than most top-rated artists!

  • Fantastico

  • Love Buck and Don' but what's the tuning the lap steel guitar is in?

  • GREAT!!! THANKYOU FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO!

  • I wonder if they cut out the 2nd part of the song to make it short for tv?

  • Whoever gave this thumbs down better have been intending to press thumbs up but just missed the button!! What a great solo!!

  • great artists !

  • Don could have been a star on his own. His voice was as good if not better than some of the stars of the time.

  • @airborneassasin Totally agree, not to mention that great guitar sound.

  • JUST AMAZING MUSIC THEY PLAYED...JUST GREAT HARMONIES AND THE MUSIC WAS TREND SETTING FROM BAKERSFIELD..RIP GUYS

  • Who played the bass for the group?

  • @GreatPumpkin69 Doyle Holly, who also sang in a low voice, by the way

  • I never enjoyed country music until I discovered Buck and Don. I hope that God has granted their souls eternal peace.

  • THE Bakersfield SOUND. Tom Brumley (pedal steel), Doyle Holley (bass), Willie Cantu (drums), Don RIch (Telecaster guitar) and.....oh yes, BUCK! Country's first hard rock band.

  • don and buck were great just about the only country stars that i liked alot and never met...they were great

    frankie dee

    hershey, pa.

  • Holy shit, I want a yellow suit like that!

  • don and buck awe country when it was good..so called country artist couldn;t touch the ground these guys walked on..it disgust me when some young moron says there country like kenny chesney and the likes..they have no idea what real country is

  • I got to shake Don Rich's hand at the hotel lobby in Fresno California

before the concert back in '71. He gave me that trade mark smile.

    Awesome dude!

  • How bout that Bakersfield Sound!!

  • fun and unpretentious. i can't get this song out of my head. cool.

  • great song

  • i second that Don Rich will never be replaced

  • Buck Owens = the kind of guy who knows all about smilin ...

  • Lovely guy Don Rich! great harmonies and great tele!

  • wonderful!

  • Don was a regular guy like most of us but he had charisma very few of us have what an amazing person!

  • great rhythm - no foolin!

  • Don Rich made the 'Buck Owens sound.' The twin Telecasters (Buck also played an acoustic) was unique...and the vocal harmonies don't get any better. Amen to the comment below to put Don in the Country Music Hall of Fame. My sentiments exactly for the past ten or more years. Don was the GREATEST band leader and 'front man' in country music--and I've had the rare honor of having seen him--and so many others, 'up close and personal.' Here's the Don and Buck.."together again."

  • That's REAL Country Music.

  • Got a question here, anyone happen to know what the model and make of the mic buck is singing through is? Thanks!

  • F**CK Taylor Swift this is the real sh*t

  • I agree, Don Rich should be in the Country Music Hall of Fame

  • These 2 great guys made a wonderful country duo. Current country wannabes can't hold a candle to these guys. Do you agree?

  • Class all the way!!!!!!! Superstars!!!!! Incredible artists!!!!!!

  • Great 'Golden Oldie'

    Thanks For Sharing Lloyd.

    Keep Smiling.

  • This is a good version but love yours better....Many stars

    Kay..

  • I love this Buck Owens song, but i love your version better. I really do Lloyd i have it on facebook, i listen to you singing it constantely, i'm hardly ever on facebook anymore.

    Thankyou for posting

    Georgina

  • Thanks for sending this Lloyd. Excellent my friend. I love this song. Have a great Thursday. Hugs..Jan and Susan ♥

  • Buck was one of my faves, long ago.

    Naomi

  • I so so enjoyed this video it was fantastic all the stars Deborah xoxo Ireland xo.

what one is don hugs debs

  • Buck Owens was great, but Don Rich made him twice as good.

  • @Carlburt9 You are right and Buck missed Don Rich greatly. He sufferd depression over his death.

  • why doesn't country sound like this anymore? what happened?

  • haha dirty song back in the day ;p

  • I just love to watch Don Rich perform. His voice was so melodic and harmonic.... his whole demeanor smiled. He was thrilled to perform without being a showman. I grew up with Hee Haw and Buck Owens and when I sing along, I've just gotta sing Don's part :)

  • @bsoleski I never even knew about Don Rich until I watched him sing a solo on Hee Haw. He was killed before I was born. I totally agree I love watching him perform. He just looks like no matter what else was going on in his life he is having a ball playing and singing and that is so enjoyable for a fan watching. I am totally amazed buy his voice and range. What a talent!

  • this is gonna' get yanked off youtube real quick you can bet yer sweet bippy bye golly ! darn those pesky cyber rangers to heck...

  • When "Cowboy Peyton Place" turned into "Brokeback Mountain" quite a few dandy dudes walked out of the closet & threw away their boots & jeans.

  • Unfortunately this style of music has pretty much died out. The country music of today has strayed so far from the true roots of artist like Ray price, Webb Peirce, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, jim Reeves, Dwight Yoakam, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Buck Owens, just to name a few. For those that doesn't already know about it you can go to pandora internet radio and type in an artist or genre of music and it will build a station of the same style or genre. Really awesome and it is free.

  • Those two guys singing together define honky tonk.

  • love it!!

  • Simply the best country ensemble in history. What other five musicians could produce such a wonderful sound?

  • Thank you so much for posting this video!

  • I agree...its good to see boys dressin pretty and singin' country. Why were else can you see queers dressed in sequins and high heeled pointy boots with big wide brimmed hats singin' together like men lovin' tough guys. You old "cowboys" dress like women and try to pretend that its tough. You bunch of flaming fags...real men do not wear shiny suits or big ol' hats...and definitely not Cow"boy" boots. Wake up flamers, we are on to you homos! If I ever catch you around my son I'll kick your ass!

  • WOT A ALL ROUND GUY DON RICH WAS

  • 初めて、カントリーMに触れたのがbuck owensです。35年前に中野サンプラザにコンサートに行ったこと、今でも鮮明に思い出します。

  • @tsrumen You have a wonderful memory and nice ears.

  • Great stuff. I was workin as a trucker on the CB drinkin beer in a can, while in the can. I loved checkin out those cattle ranchers through the truck stop glory holes when this song came out. Simple times.

  • Was working in a cattle camp on Wave Hill station, NT Australia, in 1970 when I first heard this song. It was sung by Connie Smith on an album named Connie in the Country.

Always liked Connie's version, but this one is nearly as good.

  • Is it just me, or does Buck Owens resemble Gilligan from Gilligan's Island?

  • What is this from? Is it the Carnegie Hall concert? Who is that introducing them? Jimmy Dean?

  • Countryboy probably likes the diet country that all of the people seem to be listening to these days. I'm not going to respond to his childish remarks because i have better things to do than fight with some one over the Internet.

  • This is just riveting....

Buck and Don working the same mike...

Tasteful rhythm section - NOT overplayed like every freakin' thing these days that comes outta' Nashville.

This is minimalist stuff - as is most art in its essence.

  • @edavidsalways Agreed! Pure genius lies within simplicity!

  • Don Rich For the Country Music Hall Of Fame!

  • @hoot124 WOW DEFINATELY!!!!

  • @hoot124 absolutely! A shame he hasn't been inducted

  • @hoot124 I grew up on this stuff !!!! LOVE IT !!!!!

  • @hoot124 I agree he was the best. way ahead of his time.

  • this is the kind of good ol' country music that our country needs to bring back!!!!!!!!

  • that almost fixed buck when don died.

  • Isn't that acoustic guitar with the Strat headstock cool!

  • Like the Buddy Miller signature model, eh?

  • Buck was lucky he had Don,otherwise i don't think he would have made it

  • Gunna have'ta agree with'ya, RickinFLA 07.... The harmony of Buck Owens and Don Rich is what the sound of Buck Owens and His Buckaroos.. IS!

  • @RickinFLA07 Right!!

  • watch them ! those 2 never miss a note. seems like they keep in time with each other.

  • Buck Owens and Don Rich... the Yin and Yang of County music. A genuine Karmic expression of The Eternal God's love for the "Bakersfield Sound"....

  • Countryboyon - If you don't appreciate Dwight, then you're just a Coca Cola cowboy with your Eastwood smile and Robert Redford hair.

  • Excellent Vocals- Check

    .Originality- Check

    -Cool Nudie Suits- Check

    -Stage Presence- Check

Bring back good 'ol Country Music !

  • xXxVladxXx,,,the comment was for you

  • ive got a tiger by the tail and foolin around ?Buck is sure making tiger woods feel like an ass

  • hahahaha, good one!

  • HAHA!!!!

  • a true legend.thanks 4 the music buck owens.

  • Best country band ever .

  • i know this stuff so well my dad played it so well nearly as good as ; i thought then anways

    long live gerry!

  • Don was amazing.

  • buck had a long and fruitful life , but don died young.

I know buck was never the same.

  • Buck lived to 76- which while not a short life, is not what Id call a "long" one.

  • it's been said that buck owens said don rich was his musical soulmate.and buck was never the same after don died....

  • I love classic country. BTW - Buck's guitar is tuned down a half step.

  • @Fretkillr Good ear T.

  • Buck and Don with the band were the best country band EVER assembled. Bands these days don't hold a candle. Both are terribly missed. RIP

  • Man them twowere so great together.I wish I had a friend that I couldplay and sing with and we sounded that great. That would be awesome.

  • great music

  • How does one get one of dem nashville suits hah

  • Don is a genius!

  • Don and Buck were the original dynamic duo.

  • that almost fixed buck when don died. you could,nt find another 2 people that sounds as good as they did together.

  • what a shame Don died so young. Buck and Don went together like peanut butter and jelly.

  • I love the punchy sound. Buck was the setup guy, then Don added the punch to drive the Buckaroo sound.

  • No one owned the high third like Don - except for possibly Paul McCartney in the Beatles early days. Of course the Beatles got a lot of their ideas on harmony by listening to Buck and Don!

  • Does this song have a 'Heartaches by the numbers' vibe or have I been hitting the bottle too hard?

  • yepboy!

  • This video reminds me of that warm dusty smell of old amplifiers. Great song & video !

  • These guys would put all of the country noobs that are around to shame if they were still around. Country music today is an abomination compared to the likes of buck owens, Dwight yoakam, and bands like the derailers. It's a shame that allot of country singers can't even wear cowboy boots or cowboy hats anymore, when Dwight yoakam, Ray price, Merle haggard are gone you will never see western suits or cowboy boots ever again.

  • First off,Who the hell is/are "The Derailers",???. Second,,, how many times have you seen Ray price or Merle Haggard wearing a cowboy hat???.,,,,,,,,As to Dwight Jerkim,,, since when did ladehosen constitute a "western suit??? not to mention the fact that you group him in with these REAL country STARS,,, He's not worthy of lighting either of their cigarettes,, And,, since when does a jackass or a horses ass wearing a cowboy hat make a country singer.

  • If you like this sound you'll like The Derailers. It's too bad nobody plays real country music on the radio anymore.

  • @xXxVladxXx

Well said. All that's left for them to fully ruin it forever is to make the first faggot country star. I'm sure that's next.

  • @TTmaniax dear god I hope not!

  • @laslos3

    It wouldn't surprise me.

Basically, country music belongs to southern whites more or less, and it would make a huge social statement and an yet another attack on the white male if they put a homo up there.

  • @TTmaniax Wow what a biggot. Maybe there's a singer who happens to be gay that could bring back the real stuff. Anyway, who knows how many of the famous singers (old or new) may have been gay but feel they can never let it out because of such a mob with attitudes like yours.

  • @Tommo70

Mob attitudes like mine exist because the masses don't like perverts. Gays belong in the closet.

If you think our country is better off with darkies and homos running the show, you're full of it, boss. No need to kid yourself into thinking that it was a good idea.

  • @xXxVladxXx I am playing trying to bring this old country back, we need more young bands to do the same. Look up Dale Watson and Wayne Hancock. I think you would like them.

  • @xXxVladxXx nope I know this great guy named John Aurther Martinez look him up, I'm personal friends with his manager who is another great person who won't let him get mainstream.

  • @icefire65 John Arthur is AWESOME!

  • @xXxVladxXx you said it true!!!!

  • @xXxVladxXx you are so right. All today's country music is pop music with a little bit of twang. They just slap the country label on it.

  • @MrBenjammin07 real country music doesnt need any twang.

  • @xXxVladxXx THIS IS THE TRUTH!

  • @xXxVladxXx amen brother

  • Amen! Don and Buck had one of the sweetest harmonys in the industry, they where meant for one another..............Oh BTW Hollywood (Rumored to be Playtone) is doing buck and Dons story for motion pictures

  • Oh really?

Who'll play, when will it be released?

I know they also plan to make a film of Charley Pride's life, by the way.

  • Buck and Don are terrific on this favorite song. The whole band looks fantastic and I love their outfits. Looking extra good is always a plus with me and even with great talent it never hurts to put some effort into looking professional. We don't see a whole lot of that these days. I do miss Don. He and Buck and the rest of the musicians just make the right combination and their shows were always so enjoyable. Thank you for posting. - Paula

  • Don Rich is the best!!!

  • In modern times, Nashville would have turned these two into a duo.. I am convinced of this. There will never be better harmonies.

  • they were a duo back then, now they do it above us, Mac,,,

  • Don and Buck.. "together again"

  • Don rich was the best harmony sideman anyone could ever want , there was no better he was perfection with buck .

  • I wonder if it took Don much practice to get that "tight" with Buck's voice?? Something tells me it didn't...I think they were naturally close, and almost able to read each other's minds.

  • Their harmony was magic. When Don Rich was killed in a motorcycle wreck in July of 1974, Buck suffered a nervous breakdown. He was never the same. Don Rich was just a big a part of the "BUCK OWENS SOUND AS BUCK WAS"...

  • Another leftie ! check out the head on his box ! Ilove buck owens WTF!

  • good singer and good song

  • I miss the days of good country. It's a shame that they were over before I was born.

Long live country, and the Buckaroos.

  • couldent have said it better myself, all the good ones are long gone. =/ now all you see is people like big and rich prancing around like fairies in fur coats......

  • Now this is some damm fine country music. Matter of fact it's just plain good ol'e music. great job of singing by Buck and Don.

  • Why are we STUCK with todays country, when there's still country like this out there, like Ken Mellons, Daryle Singletary,Wesley Dennis, and Kevin Denney? Like Howard Stern said, "Country Music fans, will buy any fucking piece of crap". Sad but true. That's why we have Taylor Swift.

  • @lwms135 The fact tha
