You know, I think some people don't understand just how hard it is to turn songs like this to english properly. Direct japanese translation usually doesn't have a rhythm to match the song anymore, and thus the people doing the fandub or otherwise, have to improvise and bring in words that fit as much as possible.

The lyrics may be changed, but in my opinion it's a gorgeous work of art that still captures the meaning of the original song. If she sang it as it was in a different language it would sound weird.
