  • Cute guys, although it should have been Nixon with a built AMT Enterprise (long box version) and maybe one of those old disk firing phasers instead of the newer Art Asylum and Diamond Select toys. ;)

  • @JMChladek There's a story behind that... to summarize (hopefully accurately), the toys were provided by Diamond Select. :-)

  • When the president does it, that makes it legal.

  • Finished my evening off wonderfully, really enjoyable and full of lovelylittloe links and connections. Cheers guys.

  • You know, "Phase 2" is a really terrible name, and really makes no sense as a title for a show. For instance, "Family Guy" is a show that was cancelled and then brought back years later. Can you imagine if it was called "Family Guy Phase 2"? Hmm? "New Voyages" is much better.

  • @lonstar70 STAR TREK: Phase II was the official name of what was to become STAR TREK's new TV series in 1976 or so. Paramount was going to use the PHASE II series as the flagship of their planned TV network. Then STAR WARS came out, and Paramount decided to make a STAR TREK movie rather than continue to develop PHASE II.

New Voyages officially, and with full permission, changed their name to PHASE II several years ago, possibly to keep the connection to The Original Series.

  • @PonyHorton I know all of that. I wasn't really talking about this fan series... I just really mean that PHASE II is a clunky name. In 1976 or now! Like if they brought back ST:TNG to TV and called it "Star Trek: The Next Generation Phase II"... I just think it's dumb sounding.

  • Being the detail nitpicker, I can't resist.

"Are you sure that's Captain President Nixon?"

    "Absolutely!"

"Then... why is he wearing Lt's stripes?"

  • @SawdustProductions I'm amazed nobody has said anything sooner! GOOD CATCH!

Yes, he was wearing a Lt's uniform when we shot on-set in Port Henry, as it was the only shirt available at the time.

When we shot the Oval Office scenes months later, in L.A., we had Ralph's own Captain's uniform, and we used it.

Considering the fact that we had NO budget, literally, I think a few minor mistakes are to be expected. We only had a crew of two people for most of it.

  • @PonyHorton I realise the budgetary and manpower resitrictions entirely, my friend. When you're in a tight spot, you make do with what you have. It just really seemed to fit with Bashir and O'Brien's dialogue from "Trials and Tribble-ations", is all.

That alll being said, this made me laugh for days on end. Especially his special beaming pose, and the whole "NOT WATERGATE!!!" section.

  • @PonyHorton It's OK, Dick was a Lieutenant in the US Navy....

  • That would have been funnier if I knew anything about american political history, which as a Canadian, I do not. Still it was kinda cute, I s'pose. and I am grateful for the gift. I have to say overall you guys make the best fan fic.

  • @shirak8 Thanks for the complements about our work!

True, I wrote a lot of jokes in this film that'll only be funny to those who remember Nixon's terms pretty well (those of us over the age of 50), or to historians.

But, I don't make movies to appeal to the widest audience. I make movies that I want to see but have not yet been made until I make 'em!

I can only please myself as an artist, while also HOPING the work pleases others as well.

  • Way cool! Thanks!

  • Probably should have ended with RMN's return to the Enterprise at 8:00, as the "tribble postscript" really doesn't work. Still, a mostly delightful romp getting there, with a really fun, imaginative central conceit. (Never thought I'd feel anything but loathing for the old SOB, let alone a wistful sympathy in the context of Star Trek, of all things. Guess I'm getting old.) B+

  • @MikeHall6699 Not to argue, but I think it works just fine. It does not follow the age-old Hollywood formula of having the big huge Climax moment right at the end. I wanted a bit a denouement, a bit of a nice walk-off, if you will.

I also wanted to continue the legacy from the IRS movie, of having Agent Smith NOT be nearly as inscrutable as he thinks he is. Hence having him playing with the First Cat off the Oval Office, and having an unknown pet tribble,

    Smith's a big softy!

  • WAY TO GO PONY!!!!!!!

  • awesome work. Loved it.

  • Heh... nice one! Nice to see Kurt Carley back too... been a while since he's played Pike in the In Harms Way episode.

  • This is Just amazing artistry at work Loved it!!

  • I like Phase II I really do but please... please stop changing the actor who plays Spock its becoming annoying.

There are many other star trek fan shows I have seen or nearly watched which have bad acting or bad sets and so on, but your production is solid and the next best thing to TOS, even to the point that I have even added you to my star trek archive in my HDD as season 5 (I count the animated series as season 4)

So please choose one actor to be Spock and stay with him.

    Tony out lol

  • @anthonyheaney2008 Tony, if we were paying people, it would be easy. But we're not. We're lucky to get actors who are willing to schlep clear to Port Henry on their own dime AND can do the work.

Also, Spock is not in my movie. So your complaining about him here is kinda a waste of time.

  • @PonyHorton Hi Pony, firstly let me say i love this little gem i really did and well done on keeping genes dream alive, secondly it was just a general observation even if it hasn't anything to do with this episode, and i know the cue about getting actors when you can get them i am one my self but im just after some consistency as i love your show and just when i get used to one actor another comes along.

hope you didn't take my comment too offensively. Keep up the great work.

    Tony Out

  • @anthonyheaney2008 We do what we can...

  • I miss LBJ.

  • @moeskido who?

  • in joyed this very much, everyone did some really good acting, Ralph of course was very funny as Nixon. but that's my boy.such good quality filming. keep up the good work.

  • Enjoyed that,thanks.

  • I needed that laugh, thanks guys!

  • Nice work guys, I really enjoyed it!

  • A very fun and enjoyable parody! Lot's of inside, historical jokes if you know where to look! Great job guys!

  • What the heck was that all about? This both amused and disappointed me.

  • Great Job, guys. Very entertaining. Of course, the only one that could really ACT was the TRIBBLE !!! haha

  • @CharlieMRealist1953 It was a Method Tribble, and a Union Member at that!

  • You did a great job, each and everyone involved in this paradoxical and parody farce! RMN never looked so human, LOL!
