actually My uncle raised an alligator from the time it hatched until it was full grown and it never once attacked him ever, but I'll be damned if i got anywhere near my uncle while he was with that gator it growled and got vicious it was very protective of him thats why he had to get rid of them cause he couldn't take the chance of it attacking family
Gets me thinking about the man who saved and raised a hippo, and had him as a pet for about six years. Then all of a sudden the hippo turned and killed his savior.
Back in the late 60's and early 70's a popular lake in Cocoa fl called clearlake was infested with gators and we would swim with them not more than 10 feet away but they were well fed and not one attack ever occurred. It has since been taken over by the community college that now owns the entire area and is off limits to the public. The lake now serves as a research area for science classes.
@HenryWool The crocodile passed away, and no - the man was never even harmed by the amazing creature. The uneducated masses love to flock to videos they choose to watch and then make jokes but the reality is that all species can be domesticated. The factors are time and method. No two species react the same way and so you need an intimate understanding of the behavior of the species.
i wonder if the crocodile has some brain damage from being shot in the eye, and that's why it acts oddly tame... i'm kind of uneasy watching this because i expect any normal croc to at least bite a human's arm off for touching it
@Syrophrenikan If the croc did bite off a humans arm then that means he wont get fed everyday by humans, so would he rather bite this humans arm off or get fed everyday FAT by humans.
I dont get most these people who breed wild animals, most the time the animal will eventually turn around and rip the owners head off, yet they still love the animal as if it is one of them, don't they get it? Some people i talk to nowadays are like animals and don't get anything, so what about real animals?
This animal evidently has problems and it’s not able to carry on with his normal behavior. Or this person is sedating the reptile some how. I can assure anyone looking at this video the animal is damaged some how.
@gonmoises The croc was injured by hunters and Chito saved him. It's obvious it has some type of affection for him even though it still is a dangerous wild animal.
The croc passed away about a month ago. Poor chito lost his best friend. And the croc isn't sedated for all you idiots saying that. They were literally best friends since the croc was born. I know how weird that sounds btw :)
@StefanSu91 Actually I watched the Nat Geo full-length show on this and he only met the crocodile a few years ago, when he claims to have saved its life by taking care of it. In my opinion... crocodiles are predatory animals, and you don't mess with nature. This ugy was lucky that the croc tolerated him.
$5 MILLION REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF CORRUPT MAYOR ROBERT E WALKUP FOR HIS ALLEGED ROLE IN THE CONSPIRACY IN THE KIDNAPPING AND MURDER OF SUKI ON 1/5/2011 IN TUCSON AZ.
I see what you mean, and I fully agree. I suppose my target is the many people who feel the same, but on an unjustifiably cynical basis. Like you, I feel this way because handling wild animals is dangerous, impractical, and potentially dangerous for the animal. But all too often, you hear people use these tragedy stories as fuel for cynicism when it comes to the very sentience of an animal. In doing this I think these people who spread such beliefs to be separating us from our own roots.
@CakesnakeFilms Oh yes it is, by nature. Lions, tigers, elephants, killer whales, even chimpanzees have in the past fooled anthropocentric romanticists into believing that they can be controlled, tamed and submissive; and we've all read the articles or seen the vidoes of what - sooner or later - happens to these fools. Point is, wild animals have an instinct that man as a species will never comprehend....or eradicate.
@astrokat1000 i agree with your point that all animals, tamed or not, are still dangerous. wild simply means, for me at least, that an animal is not tamed. also what has being a romanticist got to do with anything.
@CakesnakeFilms I didn't mean the word 'romanticist(s)' as it is generally understood today in its reference to arts, literature, etc from a nonconformist, expressionist point of view; rather (and in context with the word I chose to precede it) to describe a 'foolish idealism' based on the origin of the word 'romantic.' BTW I didn't say that all animals are dangerous, so how can you agree with something I didn't say? My cat Beanie is as harmless as a pillow.
@astrokat1000 I woud agree with your statement that there are instinctively fueled behaviors that cannot be fully suppressed. However I think being completly cynical about human-animal relationships is a bit radical. many higher mammals, and even more sophisticated reptilians such as crocodilians seem to exhibit behaviors that indicate individual "human" personalities. I think the scientific community, in their objective absorbtion, often forgets this.
@kylebossify With all due respect I don't believe I'm being cynical, rather realistic. I love animals more than people, but to encourage unnuatural relationships between humans and dangerous, wild animals is simply irresponsible and conceited. People can be seriously injured or killed, and nine times out of ten that animal is killed for it. That's simply fucked...
'He says: "He's my friend, I don't want to treat him like a slave or exploit him. I am happy because I rescued him and he is happy with me because he has everything he needs." Right priorities. Great story. Thanks for the post.

@DipinSauce Apparently he found it dying and he nursed it back to health. It had been shot in the head, and was starving (It only weighed 150lbs when he found it, it weighs about 1000lbs in this video). He kept it in his home to treat it's wounds and let it regain it's strength for six months before putting it back in the water.
I guess it was just smart enough to understand that he'd saved it's life. Either that or the gunshot to the head made it retarded lol.
I have no idea why that guy never got eaten. He must have raised that thing, and even then it's pretty surprising. Crocodiles don't really discriminate, they'll eat anything that they think they can take down.
Yes, crocodiles are opportunistic feeders, but they are more intelligent than most would think. They can recognize different people, and since this man raised it, it knows to be comfortable around him. The more interaction between it and the man, the more docile it becomes. It's not being harmed, and is obviously well fed. There doesn't seem to be any other crocs for it to compete with, so there really is no reason for it to be agressive.

@j3koenig
