People, autistic people can be smart like this person, he was insightful in his own mind and phycology, and he decided to reveal what he felt. I love ignorant people making the most stupisest comments it makes me laugh.
Lol so many ignorant people saying hes not autistic. He does not have to act like a downer when hes autistic. I have a high functioning autism as well, and we can talk normally on a camera or on the internet but to an actual person is difficult. I have succeeded in part of elementary school and most of middle school getting A's so dont listen to other people
Thank you very much for your video... I have a 7 year old High functioning ASD. He doesn't have behavioral issues. My concern was that he will be lonely when he gets old.
I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome about 5 years ago. I have diminished every symptom of that diagnosis to the point that the symptoms are no longer detectable. This was achieved using diet changes over the past two years.
@armankhodaei This was so useful. My daughter is a good looking, funny, academically successful high school girl whose autism is as undetectable as yours. Nevertheless, she likes to stim, pacing and wiggling a string. She does this in private and I don't dissuade this activity but I have always wondered if it was a form of OCD or simply a stress re-leaver. I will share this with her so she can relax about it. Doctors really don't know much do they? Also - watch diet AND heavy metals.
@leilapitcher2 Thank you. :) Be sure to watch my videos on stimming because I go more into detail regarding your question. As far as doctors are concerned, some know quite a bit about autism, but many don't truly understand it. But, I think that is how it is for almost any question. It is just a matter of finding the right doctor.
You are a Saint. God Bless You. I was low functioning autistic and Zeolite Powder saved my life. Also get a Fluoride filter if your water is fluoridated, it causes severe brain fog and is horrible for the GI tract.

Thank you so much for taking the time to try to help other people! I believe that my 2 year old grandson may be autistic. He does not speak, he likes to stack and unstack towels, and he lines up his cars. Has anyone suggested a cause for autism? I have heard of the possible link between mercury in vaccines and autism, and if there truly IS a link, I don't want his condition to worsen with more v
Some people do believe that there is a link between vaccines containing mercury and autism. There has been no scientific evidence to really back up this claim. The originator of this hypothesis, Andrew Wakefield was found guilty of fraud and stripped of his title by the European Medical Council (not sure exact name) and his study was overthrown because the claims in it were created by lies. Anyway, there is a great deal of evidence that points to genetics causing autism
What about the girl whose mother recently won a settlement from the government who acknowledged that the MMR shot triggered 'autism like symptoms' in her daughter recently?
@NoStreetBs That is the type of attitude that quacks prey upon. Autistics do express themselves, if they find the right medium of which do to so. Would you want to find a cure if your child was blind, or would you rather let your child decide? If you truly have an autistic child, post a video, don't just post comments. Blind people are in their own world as well.
I'll check your book out. Your a very well spoken not to mention handsome guy. I have asperger's and I wanna open up a little restaurant out of a food truck and sell roast pork sandwiches. Also grow alot of food and vegetables in my garden. I think were gonna inherit the world, lol. No but it would probally be a better place if we did.

Good question. No one has an answer at this time. There are many theories. One thing of interest, is that autism does not always appear at birth, usually it shows up around the age of two after the child has shown some level of development. But, that is not always the case. Do some things trigger autism? Does autism just happen? No one knows for certain at this time.
I have a son that is high functioning. He has PDD-NOS watching your video gives me so much hope that he will "someday" fit in with others. That he will graduate and go to university. Marry and have a family. Everything that you are saying fits my son like a glove!!! I would love to hear more from you, I have so many questions!!! Thank You for giving us parents and others some insight into a person with autisms world....we all need to understand!
BTW whats your obsession(s)? I'm obsessed with drugs and chemicals myself. You'd think that would be a good thing in parties and all that but I'm a bit over the top. Whenever someone brings up anything about any drug I feel compelled to dump all my knowledge on them and I do my best to keep the topic of the conversation on drugs and that pisses people off. I come across as some kinda mad drug addict.
First and foremost, I just want to say that I do not condone drug use in any way. However, I'm leaving your comment up because I want parents to realize that it is very possible for an autistic to obsess over drugs and learn everything about them. That's a scary thought.
I have never attempted to use drugs in anyway, and I'm very grateful.
My obsessions in the past have been Star Wars, G.I. Joe, my cat that passed away, and my ex-girlfriend
Well if I'd recommend anything to parents of autistics it would be to try and find out what constructive areas of study interest their children and they will develop a constructive passion/obsession rather than possibly developing a passion/obsession with criminal activities or other questionable areas of study.
I was diagnosed late in my life and there was nobody around to suggest things to get into apart from my brother making websites and yeah I got obsessed with making websites too.
I found a cure. Magic Mushrooms. I'm serious I have high functioning autism and I never know what the hells going on in social situations so I usually hate all that talking social bullshit but when I take shrooms that all changes. All of a sudden I can develop rapport with people and when I'm in a group I suddenly know whats going on. It feels like telepathy I just know what train of thought the groups in. Its cool shit.
Well...If that works for you, then I can't really stop you. However, I just want to let other individuals with autism and parents know that I do not condone the use of shrooms as a cure for autism.
Its no permanent solution. To be honest though I don't wanna be "cured". I love being alone and that gives me time to learn all sorts of stuff which I love doing so I'm well on my way to becoming a scientist :) Its neuroscience I'm into.
Im real introvertive but at the same time I've always had friends so the autism doesn't effect me too negatively. I think people like me because I'm so honest and trustworthy. Is it the same thing for you? I think honesty is a shared trait among autists.
Yes, I am very honest and trustworthy and people like that about me as well.
I also like being alone and I have no desire to be 100% cured. However, I do believe I have overcome many of the noticeable traits relating to autism, however on the inside I still think I'm very autistic
Yea you don't appear autistic at all. Your voice tone goes up and down. I'm fairly monotonous myself although if I'm conscious about it I can mimick other peoples ups and downs. You don't have many facial expressions but I wouldn't have noticed that if I wasn't looking for facial expressions. My lack of facial expressions is blatantly obvious. I'm either smiling or I'm not smiling and I have a mad goblin looking smile and can only smile on the left side of my face haha.
I too have autism. I was diagnosed at age 3. I am an artist, photographer. In my mind, i am 100% normal. I smoke, drink, go to parties. I am a very social person and i always have been. i am 16 years old. Sometimes i have trouble making eye contact, it makes me nervous, but 99% of the time i always make eye contact without a problem. People see me as a normal teenager, and i see myself as a normal teenager.
My opinion is that if you think you're a "normal" person then that is what you are. You know yourself better than a diagnoses that was made when you were three. You could have very well overcome autism at some point. :)
I've actually covered this in my video, Insights from an Autistic: Vaccinations, My current stance is that there isn't enough evidence that vaccinations triggers autism, especially after the Andrew Wakefield incident.
im 19 now and i heard i was autistic when i was 9 years old. im highly functionally autistic so hardly anybody realizes that i am autistic and i did used to be antisocial so i know exactly what you went through man. thank you for this video. i soon hope low functionally autistic people will be treated like equally normal people. thanks again 5/5
this young man is very clear and articulate in characterizing the life of a high functioning articulate. i wish i had understood this much about myself when i was that young. this is very helpful to me to understand more about my disorder. i am 55 year old male. i was good with numbers, so i became an aerospace engineer by the time i was 20 years old. my anxiety and depression, along with my lack of interpersonal skills have made my career life extremely difficult... sometimes i failed badly.
If you have a child or know someone with autism please check out the Son-Rise program! As this man states in his video, you need to enter the child's world in order to build any relationship with this child. Son-Rise program teaches how to do just that. Rad their books, LEARN ABOUT THIS PROGRAM! It has made a significant difference in many autistic children I have worked with.
YOu are such a genuine and kind person. I am a concerned aunty to my 20 yr old niece. She talks only when PROBED and could only not in sentences but can express herself in writing when she is asked to. She is a good cartoonis but plays too much computer games etc ( we cant stop her)and we worry about her living independently if she cant communicate by speech. Dinzyangel
What you are describing is very common. Some of the people that come to my support group are similar to your niece. The big thing is trying to get her to set goals for herself. Ask her where she sees herself two, five, and ten years from now. Then, whatever her goal is tell her that she will need to learn to socialize better to achieve it. As well, as far the speech goes, there are is speech thing worth looking into that involves her typing her thoughts. Have you seen Autism is a World?
Thank you so much for posting this. I hope you understand how much good it does for parents to see this. My son, 3 years old, will benefit from all your wonderful advice.
It is encouraging to see how you are doing. I have autism and I have overcome alot of the difficulties but it is still hard to stay verbal sometimes. I have done alot of occupational and speech therapy.
hey i feel 100% indentified with ur vid. now am 20 and i used to live in a pretty abstract world from many different ways, always unplugged from the reallity around but since i started reading or studying about my interests in music, lenguages, astrophysic, neurology, etc. 3 years ago, now I speak 3 lenguages perfectly and 3 at half percent. I play guitar, piano, cello or violin. etc.
but I still having autistic symptoms sometimes....
I wouldn't say I was cured, but I have improved immensely. The biggest things for this have been getting rid of milk in my diet (some autistics require a more regulated diet), acting in a play (I recommend looking into Actors for Autism and encouraging them to expand their base of operations across the entire US), taking an interpersonal communication course, and working with a speech therapist.
How can I help my 17 year old son who has had no speech since age 3, has no academic, social or personal care skills. Is fixated on throwing things over houses, fence, whatever, wherever. Seems that he can't understand what I am saying at times. I think he may have sensory processing disorder, which I understand because I find it impossible to understand what people are saying when in a crowd,or if there is too much other stuff going on. I imagine that it is 100 times worse for him.
My best advice is to never give up. Just continue working with your child. Perhaps, you can look into getting him something that he can type into and that speaks for him such as seen on the documentary Autism is a World.
Thank you so much for your presentation i found it to be very helpful. I am the mother of a 24 year old autistic son. He is also high functioning and would like to attend college. Do you have any experiences with the college situation at all? He wants to go but i am hesitant for his safety as far as social intergration. Also do you drive? He wishes to do so and i am also concerned with his safety.
you have progressed alot. I'm amazed. You don't come across as autistic at first glance. I did review your videos again however and now I wonder something else.
How many tries did it take for your videos?
Did you have to read from a script?
When it comes to autism, there are things that can be made less noticable. There are other things however that can't be changed that are more hard wired.
hI my name is Amanda and i have high-functioning autism too. I liked your video, it was interesting. I'm trying to start the gluten -free, casein -free diet ...have you ever done that before?
I also didn't know that milk can cause temper tantrums, I was always lead to believe that it relaxes people!
I get agressive and throw things about, I drink milk but i never realized it could be a cause! I don't know If i am autistic or not! but I am showing some asbergers symptoms, I have something but i dont know:( its hard finding a diagnosis.
This Video Is Amazing. I Can't Wait To Read Your Book. My Son Has Autism. I Am A Dedicated Autism Advocate For Him & Others Like Him. I Love You Arman. Thank-You.
Thank you for taking the time to open a window into the mind of autism. My son is 2yrs old and has autism. We are in early intervention mode, he is a busy little guy. You make so many points clear and easy to understand. You did a great job. Thanks again.
The reading of unpredictable vs. predictable is "new" news. I really didn't pay attention to my reading speed, and I couldn't really read until the third grade anyway. Actually, I could but I would read one word at a time, and I could not form a sentence. If I read a sentence I had no comprehension of the sentence. I heard each word individually.
Ah, good question about the sentences. It used to be the case until I got into college that I heard noises and saw objects as separate which in reality they are. For example, you see lightning before you hear thunder. So, being autistic you hear the sound in a similar fashion to that of lightning and thunder. So, you can see how it can be difficult to understand who is talking.
kasak 5, for some reason I am unable to send you the response to your message, so I am going to post it here.
Yes, the autisitc is responding to the current event exactly as he did in the past because that is the time period that the autistic currently sees themselves in.
I find this very interesting and I think your explaining to me in simple english will help me understand. I believe this is going to help me very much. You are wonderful and God bless you plenty.
In regards to passage of time, when a certain event triggers from the past it seems as if it and everything relating to that event (in other words past events that are nearly identical in nature, for example someone saying let's go to McDonalds) are occurring at that moment. So, the autistic is responding to what he perceives as happening in that moment even if it occurred three years ago. I hope that helps.
Arman, I read a comment from some silly person that you could be a fake; absoultely crazy, I totally agree with counter comment 'why bother to watch and criticise'. It would be devastating if it is true and only a very cruel person would do such a thing. We are here to learn and help each other and though I have to admit,it is very obvious and maybe too baffling esp for this commenter to watch you come across as so highly educated and more than'normal'. You are truly blessed and gifted.
Do you think that it has anything to do with autistic's view of time?
In your video, when you talked about the passage of time, you said "it's like it's all happening in this one time". Could you please explain this to me?
I think your video is very interesting. Well done for making it!
I work with many young people with autistic disorders in Melbourne. I'm actually writing a doctoral research thesis on high functioning autistic people's understanding of language. Could you say anything about how autistics tend not to attend to the broader context of the sentence they are trying to understand?
@jumphighhighhatted Not that I am aware of.

One thing of interest, is that autism does not always appear at birth, usually it shows up around the age of two after the child has shown some level of development. But, that is not always the case. Do some things trigger autism? Does autism just happen? No one knows for certain at this time.
armankhodaei 2 years ago
Are you actually autistic or Aspegers? Because I fear there is a big difference and Aspergers are a lot higher functioning.
gingerwoman555 2 years ago
I was originally diagnosed with autism. But, who knows, perhaps I have outgrown it.
armankhodaei 2 years ago
I have a son that is high functioning. He has PDD-NOS watching your video gives me so much hope that he will "someday" fit in with others. That he will graduate and go to university. Marry and have a family. Everything that you are saying fits my son like a glove!!! I would love to hear more from you, I have so many questions!!! Thank You for giving us parents and others some insight into a person with autisms world....we all need to understand!

Thank you. I have many more videos up. I highly recommend the video Insights from an Autistic: Conquering Autism.

CrackBadger52 2 years ago
First and foremost, I just want to say that I do not condone drug use in any way. However, I'm leaving your comment up because I want parents to realize that it is very possible for an autistic to obsess over drugs and learn everything about them. That's a scary thought.
I have never attempted to use drugs in anyway, and I'm very grateful.
My obsessions in the past have been Star Wars, G.I. Joe, my cat that passed away, and my ex-girlfriend
armankhodaei 2 years ago

CrackBadger52 2 years ago
Well...If that works for you, then I can't really stop you. However, I just want to let other individuals with autism and parents know that I do not condone the use of shrooms as a cure for autism.
armankhodaei 2 years ago
Its no permanent solution. To be honest though I don't wanna be "cured". I love being alone and that gives me time to learn all sorts of stuff which I love doing so I'm well on my way to becoming a scientist :) Its neuroscience I'm into.
Im real introvertive but at the same time I've always had friends so the autism doesn't effect me too negatively. I think people like me because I'm so honest and trustworthy. Is it the same thing for you? I think honesty is a shared trait among autists.
CrackBadger52 2 years ago
Yes, I am very honest and trustworthy and people like that about me as well.
I also like being alone and I have no desire to be 100% cured. However, I do believe I have overcome many of the noticeable traits relating to autism, however on the inside I still think I'm very autistic
armankhodaei 2 years ago
Yea you don't appear autistic at all. Your voice tone goes up and down. I'm fairly monotonous myself although if I'm conscious about it I can mimick other peoples ups and downs. You don't have many facial expressions but I wouldn't have noticed that if I wasn't looking for facial expressions. My lack of facial expressions is blatantly obvious. I'm either smiling or I'm not smiling and I have a mad goblin looking smile and can only smile on the left side of my face haha.
CrackBadger52 2 years ago
My appearance isn't normal like yours but at the same time I don't appear too weird. People just think I'm a fuckin idiot haha.
CrackBadger52 2 years ago
I too have autism. I was diagnosed at age 3. I am an artist, photographer. In my mind, i am 100% normal. I smoke, drink, go to parties. I am a very social person and i always have been. i am 16 years old. Sometimes i have trouble making eye contact, it makes me nervous, but 99% of the time i always make eye contact without a problem. People see me as a normal teenager, and i see myself as a normal teenager.
I'd like to hear your feedback. :)
royals155 2 years ago
My opinion is that if you think you're a "normal" person then that is what you are. You know yourself better than a diagnoses that was made when you were three. You could have very well overcome autism at some point. :)

How about vaccinations?
Like 9 out of 10 parents are saying that they deeply suspect vaccines changed their kids.
asperin 2 years ago
I've actually covered this in my video, Insights from an Autistic: Vaccinations, My current stance is that there isn't enough evidence that vaccinations triggers autism, especially after the Andrew Wakefield incident.

this young man is very clear and articulate in characterizing the life of a high functioning articulate. i wish i had understood this much about myself when i was that young. this is very helpful to me to understand more about my disorder. i am 55 year old male. i was good with numbers, so i became an aerospace engineer by the time i was 20 years old. my anxiety and depression, along with my lack of interpersonal skills have made my career life extremely difficult... sometimes i failed badly.
JustLiveFree 3 years ago

Dinzyangel
dinzyangel 3 years ago
What you are describing is very common. Some of the people that come to my support group are similar to your niece. The big thing is trying to get her to set goals for herself. Ask her where she sees herself two, five, and ten years from now. Then, whatever her goal is tell her that she will need to learn to socialize better to achieve it. As well, as far the speech goes, there are is speech thing worth looking into that involves her typing her thoughts. Have you seen Autism is a World?

hey i feel 100% indentified with ur vid. now am 20 and i used to live in a pretty abstract world from many different ways, always unplugged from the reallity around but since i started reading or studying about my interests in music, lenguages, astrophysic, neurology, etc. 3 years ago, now I speak 3 lenguages perfectly and 3 at half percent. I play guitar, piano, cello or violin. etc.
but I still having autistic symptoms sometimes....

how and where were u cured can u tell me?
i have a 2yr 9 month old austistic child
hiforsum 3 years ago
I wouldn't say I was cured, but I have improved immensely. The biggest things for this have been getting rid of milk in my diet (some autistics require a more regulated diet), acting in a play (I recommend looking into Actors for Autism and encouraging them to expand their base of operations across the entire US), taking an interpersonal communication course, and working with a speech therapist.
armankhodaei 3 years ago
How can I help my 17 year old son who has had no speech since age 3, has no academic, social or personal care skills. Is fixated on throwing things over houses, fence, whatever, wherever. Seems that he can't understand what I am saying at times. I think he may have sensory processing disorder, which I understand because I find it impossible to understand what people are saying when in a crowd,or if there is too much other stuff going on. I imagine that it is 100 times worse for him.
FaithAndHopeAlways 3 years ago
My best advice is to never give up. Just continue working with your child. Perhaps, you can look into getting him something that he can type into and that speaks for him such as seen on the documentary Autism is a World.
armankhodaei 3 years ago

Do you still have some of those?

I also didn't know that milk can cause temper tantrums, I was always lead to believe that it relaxes people!
I get agressive and throw things about, I drink milk but i never realized it could be a cause! I don't know If i am autistic or not! but I am showing some asbergers symptoms, I have something but i dont know:( its hard finding a diagnosis.

Third response to kasak 5 message:
The reading of unpredictable vs. predictable is "new" news. I really didn't pay attention to my reading speed, and I couldn't really read until the third grade anyway. Actually, I could but I would read one word at a time, and I could not form a sentence. If I read a sentence I had no comprehension of the sentence. I heard each word individually.
armankhodaei 3 years ago
Second response to kasak 5 message:
Ah, good question about the sentences. It used to be the case until I got into college that I heard noises and saw objects as separate which in reality they are. For example, you see lightning before you hear thunder. So, being autistic you hear the sound in a similar fashion to that of lightning and thunder. So, you can see how it can be difficult to understand who is talking.
armankhodaei 3 years ago
kasak 5, for some reason I am unable to send you the response to your message, so I am going to post it here.
Yes, the autisitc is responding to the current event exactly as he did in the past because that is the time period that the autistic currently sees themselves in.
armankhodaei 3 years ago
I find this very interesting and I think your explaining to me in simple english will help me understand. I believe this is going to help me very much. You are wonderful and God bless you plenty.
dinzyangel 3 years ago
In regards to passage of time, when a certain event triggers from the past it seems as if it and everything relating to that event (in other words past events that are nearly identical in nature, for example someone saying let's go to McDonalds) are occurring at that moment. So, the autistic is responding to what he perceives as happening in that moment even if it occurred three years ago. I hope that helps.
armankhodaei 3 years ago
Arman, I read a comment from some silly person that you could be a fake; absoultely crazy, I totally agree with counter comment 'why bother to watch and criticise'. It would be devastating if it is true and only a very cruel person would do such a thing. We are here to learn and help each other and though I have to admit,it is very obvious and maybe too baffling esp for this commenter to watch you come across as so highly educated and more than'normal'. You are truly blessed and gifted.

kasak5 I sent you a message. I hope that it is of assistance to you.
armankhodaei 3 years ago
Do you think that it has anything to do with autistic's view of time?
In your video, when you talked about the passage of time, you said "it's like it's all happening in this one time". Could you please explain this to me?
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
kasak5 3 years ago
I think your video is very interesting. Well done for making it!
I work with many young people with autistic disorders in Melbourne. I'm actually writing a doctoral research thesis on high functioning autistic people's understanding of language. Could you say anything about how autistics tend not to attend to the broader context of the sentence they are trying to understand?
thanks
