hello, My name is Ashtyn. I am on my friends account but I still wanted to leave a comment. I was waching your documentery and it really touched me and my mom in a special way. My brother is a slight autistic and seeing a person like you trying to explain autism to other people is a very brave and good thing. We have been explaining to people why he talks different or moves different ever since he was dignosed. I just want to say thank you and you are a beautiful person inside and out.
Call me nosy if you want, just curious (without reading a billion responses first to see if anyone else asked...) what were you all excited and happy about? I jump about like that when I'm super happy too. Can't sit down or betill when I'm excited and happy!
Amanda! I love your "Happy Dance". My husband and I always dance. Its good for the soul. Dance is an expression of the soul. We call it Happy Feet! I think the doctor who wanted you to stop is nutz. Keep dancing My dear!
I love this video, it's awesome. I think the world would be happier if we didn't all have to fit some cookie-cutter image. I hope you found a new doctor? Keep dancing!
I just noticed something and had to ask. On this video you are dancing, and on a documentary that you were on that Anderson Cooper aired you were in a wheelchair. Can you explain?
Yeah, it's called part-time wheelchair use. My movement disorder (which was not explained adequately on CNN at all) makes voluntary movement extremely difficult, but automatic and triggered movements are not affected. I can also walk part of the time, it is just not something I can sustain.
And I also have a condition that makes my legs and ankles hurt a lot if I stand too long, especially if I (like usual) forget my ankle braces. So that doesn't help. In one of my other videos (the one about boiling water) the part where I sat down in the middle of the video wasn't exactly planned, it just happened, so then I filmed something to fill in that gap with a bit of what I was doing, although the real break I took was much longer than the video.
Hey i say u on the news the otehr day and i just wanted to tell you that i think what your doing, to help non-autistic people understand why autistic people they way they are is amazeing
and i really glad that you didn't lisn. to that doctor and kept your happy dance!!!
this is nautrual when i get exited i wont stop jumping up and down and i dont realize im doing it its the weirdest thing i saw you on cnn people underestimate you but your pretty neet
That's weird, my posts won't come up.Oh well, probabbly some delay. If forgot to tell you on the previous posts(and please read them too. They are just some perspective you might want to consider if you haven't yet)that my school is gathering money for people with autism! In fact, our techinician, the front desk lady, and my art teacher all have a child that has autism.Today,I heard that a class, out of 30, of about 20 students actually brought in almost 600 dollars!Hopefully some will get to you!
I saw you on TV a couple of days ago! I had planned alot of things to say, but... I kinda forgot some, but here are the main points... Don't think that you are penalized by autism too much... You are actually very lucky, not the having autism part, but the fact that you are alive. I heard that most people diagnosed with autism die within 3 years... Whether this is true or not... You should think of yourself as a role model for the others who have autism. (continue on the next post)
Great job with your videos. I saw you on CNN last night. I hope you are successful in expanding everyone's minds to other viewpoints. You are changing the world for the better.
My son constantly does the same thing when he is very excited and happy. It makes me smile to know he is happy. I don't see why any doctor would want to make you stop.
Mi son also has this happy dance, and i feel very happy when i see him showing his happiness. Im totally agree, that doctor have no reason to make you stop
All of you who are confused need to pick up the latest WIRED magazine & check out its article on Autism. Since doing so I've had a few dozen revelations, and doubt my amazement will cease.
I've also discovered I am not the only one who has started to wonder if their actions are more symbolic of the human advancement predicted by the Mayans during the advancement of our societies into The Golden Age.
Keep rocking on, Amanda! You've got many new fans now!
Oh man, do I wish I could move like that! I would be sore for weeks but it would be so-oo-oo worth it! Your happy dance made me happy just watching it. domo arrigato for sharing this with us. You are awesomeness personified!
Yeah right now I couldn't do it, or not without regretting it, so I know what you mean there. :-/
But it was a lot of fun at the time. (I was running around doing it anyway then figured for my thingy, whatsit, the thing where I am trying to catalogue various expressions, then I would turn a camera on and keep doing it.)
I was responding to my friend's happy dance, and (later) starting a meme about it to see lots of people's happy dances. It's because we're happy. :-) If you don't like happy go elsewhere.
damn straight, nothong innapropriate, its noemal to you, and to me.... its innapropriate to judge and t try to '' change;'' people just cause they different, we all differ. look at all the cultures and races, they innapropriate ways to other cultures, nothing bad, or wrong just differnt and different is good ;-)
I've been having a difficult few days. Nothing major, just some issues that leave me feeling pretty sad. Watching your video was awesome! I found myself smiling, and feeling a lot better about things in general.
I agree with everyone who has questioned the doctor's competency or motives. I wonder if he ever smiles?
Happiness is sometimes so scarse... why would anyone want to dictate what is or is not an appropriate way of expressing happiness at all? Keep dancing!
Great vid. I'm sorry the doctor tried to pathologize you because he didn't understand. We fear what we don't understand. Your videos are helping to destroy that fear.
you're smiling - i can tell you're happy. so why's it inappropriate? oh well - screw doctors, what do they know? Happy dance all you like -- just don't stub your toes (i saw you had no shoes on, though I don't blame you- they suck too)
I felt the joy literally come out of you into me watching that. And I was in a so-so mood tonight. Thanks for showing us this.
I tend to change moods with music as it deeply affects me. If I want to workout or want energy I listen to techno/dance or rock/metal. If I want to be mellow I listen to various things from Chris Isaak to Carly Simon. If I want to be sung to sleep I listen to Enjya, Enigma, etc.
I once got angry in front of psychologist (for fabricating facts on my permanent record). I called him a fucking quack and asked to leave. He put me on a seventy-two hour hold.
