  • from where i can sell like this one please

  • Hmmm using that logic, you could say a "not really" nuclear bomb was still a nuclear bomb.. :)

  • That would be so funny if someone just shot it down while hunting!

  • nice i should be geting my Cybird 3CH Flying Bird any day now they look like alot of fun compared to a normal rc plane

  • You know,in a way this is scary. These devices cost nothing in the grand scheme of things.Whats to say your township is not using these to check up if you built an addition onto your home w/o a permit,or your growing a little "HERB" in your tomato garden ?I could picture a cop in a trailor remotely flying one of these intrusive devises just to spy on you.As the racist in the army surplus store in the movie "Falling Down says....."Think about it " It is not far fetched.Forfeiture law makes BIG $.

  • Bem legal, mas e se vc aumentasse ou elevasse a superfície superior das asas p/ que ele possa planar e ganhar empuxo???! Valeu!

  • it looks like it has a prop making it not a true ornithopter

  • I agree. The prop for forward impetus disqualifies it as being a true ornithopter. All momentum should be derived from the flappng of the wings. That being said, it is nevertheless a unique flying machine.

  • I continue to thank all YouTube members for their valued comments>>

    However,

Flapping winged aircraft equals ornithopter. You can say it's not a true O or it is a hybrid O, but the key word people are using to describe this aircraft is Ornithopter :)

I added a few pictures on my U-tube homepage showing the craft before modification. I hope it clears up the misconception.

  • WOW... i thought they could fly well but on your video its fact that robotic bird can fly hehe.. cheers..

  • whats it like on power consumption/flying time?

  • I'd fly around 7 to 10 minutes before landing, probably could have pushed it to 15 minutes maximum. The craft had 2 batteries and 2 speed controllers, 1 set for the prop and the other for the flap mechanism. Was also very heavy. Both thrust sources needed to be running and balanced out. What I mean by this is a low flap rate and high throttle on the prop would produce a torque roll for which the craft would not recover.

  • you could scare the shit out of ppl with that by making it look more birdlike and flying it near them

  • looks like a bird.

  • Love it are they for sale anywhere????

  • I love ornithopter. I really want to get into it. Im addicted to any rc. I just wanted to say one time it was really really windy. I was on the balcony on the 11th floor and I was shocked when I saw a real bird that took off and flipped over twice and lost control and almost slammed into the side of the building. Luckily it flew away saftley.

  • That is too cool - an areobatic mechanical bird! Watch out for dudes with shotguns ;D

  • very next step of RC modelling. beautiful job.

  • Its awesome!

Wish i had one, what would it cost?

PS. Why is the video called "3D"...?

  • jajaja very good is a rc bird!!!

  • However folks argue about this it is quite an achievement. Maybe we could call it a hybrid-ornithopter to please all the purists out there. Excellent model man. Never seen one roll like that. Can you loop it? 5 stars.

  • I thank all YouTube members for their valued comments>>

81' I had thought it was quite an achievement as well, possibly 7-10 years ahead of it's time.

Ironically, the ornithopter flys fine without using a prop, only additional airspeed (thrust) was needed so it could roll as witnessed here.

A in or out loop can be done if conditions are right but too often the aircraft destabilizes, similiar to inertia coupling, with a short fuselage and kinetics going on.

  • It looks great, but I don't thing its a real orni.

  • Sorry. Not an ornithopter. Forward thrust must be produced by wings to be classed as such. Ever seen any bird doing it any other way?

  • it's cool but it's not an ornithopter

  • hey, either way, it's a neat plane, it's not exactly at all easy to make an ornithopter, without a prop, if it were, we'd all be traveling in them, not it hasnt been done.....been watching other videos of propless ones.

    anyway nice job.

  • in reality, if those wings were not moving at all, it would still fly, i would say a true ornithopter is sustained by the movement of the wings, but it still looks like alot of fun! keep it up!

  • you are cheating by using a prop

  • No cheating, most flapping winged enthusiast can not even agree on what a true ornithopter is. Possibly the best short definition I read was in an old 1910 aeronautical book, >>Ornithopter>> A aircraft with moving planes

Notice this short, clean description does not mention fixed wings or propellers, it simply states an ornithopter is an aircraft with moving wings. The video above is a ornithopter.
