yes madame fluffy....exquisite lyrics and sublime moments. last month while sun set over pacific ocean and stars arose over petaluma, listened to this song and album, sipping a glass of napa's finest and smiles with a one-time girlfriend of corey, the pianist.
it seems we have some similarity in tastes, le chat.
Actually, this recording is starting about a quarter way into this piece. I know because I play this on piano ... it was one of my inspirations for working to play rock from classical pieces. I love Pablo Cruise! Still ...
I remember this when I was in high school from the bay area in San Francisco. . . I used to listen to it all the time. It was very relaxing to me for some reason. Great musicians.
I agree with you gremmiehodad, a masterpiece, every track is great, lovely album to put on the turntable and go to sleep on, music before the world went mad...
A Masterpiece from start to finish! Cory Lerios piano playing is simply brilliant! For that one should listen to the full version of this song! The first three minutes or so is missing here! I 'm sure because of the UTubes time 10 minute constraint! The song is over 12 minutes!
first two albums I ever bought were steely dan aja and pablo cruise a place in the sun. My sister took me to the big city to buy them. Chrystalship Records! Good times!
Cory Lerios is a wicked talent on the keyboards who never got the recognition he deserved. Pablo Cruise was my first concert. 1978 at the Napa (CA) County Fairgrounds.
They were my first concert too, just a year or so earlier... (Boulder CO, Univ of Colorado, Macky Auditorium...'76 or '77). Fourth row, directly in front of the right side speaker stack...(or left side, if on the stage).
Yeah....what a great band!
They gave us the full 12 minutes of "Ocean Breeze" that night.
I remember it only vaguely...and yet also in crystal clarity at the same time.
Pablo was on PBS in mid-70's on Sound Stage! The live version of Island Woman had a drum solo;2:30 of sweaty pulsating rhythm to make the dead sit up and take notice!Absolutely phenomenal!
" When asked what Pablo Cruise meant, the band would say that "Pablo represents an honest, real, down to earth individual; and Cruise depicts his fun loving and easy going attitude towards life." straight from wiki........... love these dudes !
I had the great fortune to see this band at the moment they had "just arrived," and were suddenly hot: Seats in the fourth row of a 2500 seat auditorium, with great acoustics, and right in front of a speaker stack about ten feet high.
It's the one time in my life I ever heard "Ocean Breeze" played live...and with great enthusiasm--and love--too.
Saw them live again many years later, and this was the one song they WOULDN'T play.
Thisis the most amazing composition of all time. I saw them in 1977 when I was 18 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I listen to it when I'm having a good day or a bad day and it always does what it's supposed to. I love, love, love this song. I will always be a fan.
wow...I didn't know they were actually this good. However, in the 70's, is it just my opinion that most pianists had that Charlie Brown sound? I'm not dissing it,in fact, I think it sounds excellent. just...commenting.
@WhatHappendToThem I couldn't agree more about this GEM. Where did it come from ? Who sings and plays on it ? I have no idea. All I know is Pablo Cruise. These poor guys owe it all to bad management and a lousy record label. What else can it be ? I feel bad for them. If they had promotion done the right way, who knows what would have happened. Sad. Great song, in fact, it was used in the Combat Zone in Boston, Mass as a stripper's song. It's true !!
Great Song! I was at an outdoor summer concert and this song came on while they were setting up stage for The Sons of Champlin at Stanford Frost Amphitheater. It just seemed like the right song for the activity taking place. That was a long time ago. It was a great time. nobum2, thank you for the memories.
anyone notice how much the ending sounds like claptons layla,,,

My reaction is similar to most of the others. I heard this a really long time ago and I especially liked the piano & instrumental parts the most.
Very nice to wander back in time and revisit and HEAR what it was I liked so much. Haven't heard it in ages. Thank you, YouTube. jdm

mid 80's, standing on Stinson Beach, singing this song to greet the sunrise. a friend was a ways away, writing on the sand.
a notice a jogger approaching, yet keep singing. he passes and smiles.
as he passes my friend...i realize it's the drummer.
lovely moments in the universe soetimes.
