You say boxing is over a century old but completely disregard other disciplines. I think it's safe to say that fighting in general is much older than that. ZERO MMA fighters are "afraid to get hit". Boxers are terrified of getting submitted and would also cry about elbows, knees, kicks, etc... LoL! Mad respect for Toney, though, for actually stepping up. I hope boxing gets swallowed up by MMA to make MMA even better.

There hasn't been a champion in prime vs champion in prime boxing fight in like 20 years, it's too focused on money now. I love watching old fights, but I fell asleep whenever I tried watching a boxing fight recently (it may have something to do that fights in america are going live at around 3-4 in the morning in my country)

@illestchicano That's actually completely false. If you look at any sport related ratings chart, you will see that MMA draws in more and more of their demographic (white males ages 18-36) every year. It has actually become the fastest growing sport in the nation while boxing has been on a sharp decline. Don't get me wrong I love boxing, but MMA has encompassed so much more and given so many more martial artists an opportunity that it will slowly consume boxing in the future.

I love mma and boxing, to me mma fighters a complete fighter cus they got both stand up and ground game but a boxer is someone who has perfected one skill and thats bassically his stand up. if james tony had some type of knowledge of how to fight of his back he would have easly whooped randy but just a few weeks of training wasnt gonna save him in this one. a boxer cud do alot of damage n mma if they cud fight on the ground or keep the fight up like dos santos do. gud fight tho

Look the thing is, the only boxers that have come and done MMA are out of their prime, past it guys like James Toney and Ray Mercer. Until the day comes when an in-prime, world class level fighter comes and fights in their prime, there won't be a true test. And we know that won't happen cuz boxers make too much money doing what they do. It would take a Manny Pacquaio taking the challenge and that'll never happen.
