hey scotty, just wanted to know if u could help me with my mazda. i got a 2004 mazda 6 with a v6 engine and its been having alot of problems lately, its got a misfire on cylinder 6 (but when i drive it shakes when im in gear 4,5, and 6 but when i down shift it runs smooth), and its says system idle lean. could you please help me out scotty. please and thank you :)
@scottykilmer thank you, but are they other ways to tell if you need a new coil or fuel injector other then using the probe? because my coils and injectors are pretty hard to get to, its under the intake manifold. another friend of mine suggested that it could be the oxygen sensor but im not to sure what to change because theres so much options. do u know if he might be right? and have u ever fixed a mazda 6 with a misfire before?
@9829544 that's life of working on cars, all those things and more can cause misfires. You need to test with probes OR have a dealer level scan tool to analyze the coils and injectors. I use a dealer level scan tool myself, but that costs many thousands.

great videos man. I have a 1971 buick lesabre with a 350 4bbl motor. My car was running fine until I changed the spark plugs. I used the correct gap and all the wires are in the correct firing order. Now when I drive the car it sputters at take off and misses when it runs. Sometimes it backfires under the hood. The car only has 64.000 miles and I don't think it's anything major. Can you tell me what could be causing this car to run so poorly when it ran fine before the spark plug change ?
@LowNineZ replace the spark plug wires now, just taking em on and off on that old thing to change the plugs often shorts em out inside. Then Pray you didn't mess up anything else doing that work, like knock off wires or vacuum hoses.
I was wondering if a torch would get hot enought to remove a crankshaft sprocket stud. I have order two different stud extractor tools and neither will fit, the housing on the tool is to big to fit the stud.

i have a question, i recently bought me 02 mustang V6 to work on it, for the fun of it. so i worked on a lot of things, but engine started misfiring(not sure if is misfirin) and so i changed spark plugs, and wires. it kept doing it. so i check if it was sending spark from the coil. so cables 3 and 4 werent clicking like the rest. i changed coil 2 times, stilll the same. so i bought a new computer, cause everything lead to it. i recieved codes PO352 i think. sayng ignition coil. but it wasnt it
@PEREZ29MMA P0352 can only be caused by a bad ignition coil, bad wiring going to the coil, or a bad ECM. If you are SURE those parts are good, start tracing all the wires going to the coils up into where they plug into the computer.
@scottykilmer ohhh okey. next week ill be getting my ECM that i sent to fix, ima plug it up an see if it works, if it doesnt ima do what you told me and start tracing the wires to see if anything is wrong with them. but just in case i get my ECM back all fixed as it supposed to, and it doesnt work? that would only leave the wires? or could it be anythign else?
@PEREZ29MMA of course it could be other things than wiring or ecm, modern cars are very complex. even a simple bad sensor can short out a computer, then you put a new one in, it will short out that new computer fast. Such problems are often VERY complex, that's when you pay a mechanic .

OH I got it Scotty. It was that remanufactured Alternator that was robbing the power from my battery. They gave me a new optima battery and I upgraded (actually got $46 back for doing that as the core charge for the remanufactured was more in total cost over the upgraded NEW alternator) the alternator. It works just perfect now.
Scotty, something is draining my car battery and the alternator is good. I know it can be a number of things, but any tips on how to chase this down effectively? Like which things to check first?

Scotty. Recently I Wanted to replace the headers on my 99 Honda accord I'n doing so I broke one the nuts from the heat shield the shield came off but the nut stayed I'n the headers
My question is will I have trouble removing the header because the nut is stuck I'n there
@623bullet heat shields are no big deal, as long as the header bolts going on the head are OK it should be fine, soak em overnight with WD 40 before removing em though

@cyfarwyddiadau ya bought the wrong car, you're supposed to check em out before buying them. I would assume the clutch has internal problems, like a worn throw out bearing or clutch plate, and as for the front end, have a good front end man check it out, they generally give free estimates on front end work. many things can knock, such as a frame bushings.
Scotty, my '88 Ford Crown Victoria p71 is eating coolant and overheats whenever I drive it more than 10 miles. I have a brand new radiator and the water pump isn't more than 3 yrs. old. If it's not a blown head gasket or cracked intake manifold, what else could the problem be?

even taken off that should have been to bleed them. I can try to get my money back from him for the caliper/brake pad job plus what the 2nd mechanic had to do over to fix what that guy did. But he should have read the code & found out the tranny was going before jumping to conclusion it was the brakes. What if I hadn't wanted to invest so much in the car. He has a couple other young guys that work for him. Not really mechanics? I will try to recover that $ and also for the corrections done?
this first mechanic only replaced a caliper and those pads (backwards). I got my car out of there after he told me the computer was throwing tranny codes and that he re-bled the brakes and couldnt get it right. Said i might have a leak in master cylinder. He doesnt do trannies. I didnt trust him anymore since he messed up my brakes. I had the tranny fixed at 2nd mechanic and he told me the other guy had put pads on backwards & didnt correctly bleed brakes cause some screws had not been
Scotty, If I took my car to a shop because of the car not accelerating when giving gas then they say its beaks from a locked caliper and they replace caliper & pads, give the car back and its doing the same thing plus mushy breaks when I had no breaking problem before. Now they put it on computer because all this time the Engine light has been on and they say transmission. Take my car to another place that also does brakes. Those brake pads were on backwards.Can i get refund?
Scotty. Got a weird noise. When first starting Lexus GS. Lasts about 1/2 a min. Then quits. It's coming from under the dash, behind the console area on the drivers side. Also the dual zone climate control only blows heat on the passenger side. Related issue? What do you think may be the problem? BTW. Great videos. I have learned a lot.

@baseer1992 you want different things that are not compatible, such as speed, easy to fix, and good gas mileage. The mustang is fast, the mits is good on gas, and none are easy to fix anymore. You have to decide what's more important, but personally, I'd never buy the eclipse, Mits are cheaply made cars.

Hey scotty, my car is vibrating on the driver side front wheel at 55mph, and after I go faster the vibrating seems to go away. I changed my brakes, rotors, tire and switched rims with another wheel, and so far nothing. Every once in a great while I hear a weird scratching/scraping noise, but it goes away. Is this my bearings or something else? Thanks!

The back of my car makes a squeaky noise every time I go over the bump. any idea what product I should use or buy to make the squeaking go away? I view keeping my rolling wreck as a challenge...how long can I keep this car until it either dies or I am absolutely forced to put it out of its misery. This video shows how to attain SOME information that MAY be helpful in fixing your own car. If you aren't particularly good at teaching yourself how to do things then you may want to have someone who has done it (and succeeded) help you out. Just know that if you mess the car up even more and then finally bring it to a mechanic, you will be charged a lot more, especially if you bring it to me.
Hey Scotty, Idea for a video. How about looking at ABS fault codess? My 94 Celica GT4 WRC keeps popping up with the ABS light on the dash. Although when I bridge the connections for a diagnostic no error codes flash up...and the light sometimes does not come on. Very strange :)
Scotty, I bought a used car that came with a set of cheap HID headlights, they are low beam only, and when i turn them on, the radio goes static, as in the lights interfere with the radio signal. However, right when I turn them off, or when I use the high beams, the radio sounds perfect. So idk what to do or what could be causing it
Hey Scotty, as you may or may not know. I've got a Holden SS Commodore with the LS1 (featurered on my channel). Now at idle, and sittting at the lights, there is an ever so slight vibration I can feel through my seat at times. Ive driven a few other SS and even heard some of the newer ones do it also. But I wondered if it could be a Engine mount problem or is it just common with LS1 Gen 3's? I'm a mechanic and have asked a few guys I work with and they all reckon its common and normal.

I know I should check out your video's but you don't have one for my problems. Whenever I drive for awhile and I idle in traffic or whatsoever, my cars fine and same goes for when I put it in neutral but whenever if its in "park" it always idle's really low, rough and has stalled occasionally. Any answers? Its just weird to me how it only does it in park.

@9829544 often a weak fuel injector on number six, or a bad coil on plug assembly there. Check those first.

Scotty, If I took my car to a shop because of the car not accelerating when giving gas then they say its beaks from a locked caliper and they replace caliper & pads, give the car back and its doing the same thing plus mushy breaks when I had no breaking problem before. Now they put it on computer because all this time the Engine light has been on and they say transmission. Take my car to another place that also does brakes. Those brake pads were on backwards.Can i get refund?

Scotty. Got a weird noise. When first starting Lexus GS. Lasts about 1/2 a min. Then quits. It's coming from under the dash, behind the console area on the drivers side. Also the dual zone climate control only blows heat on the passenger side. Related issue? What do you think may be the problem? BTW. Great videos. I have learned a lot.

@baseer1992 you want different things that are not compatible, such as speed, easy to fix, and good gas mileage. The mustang is fast, the mits is good on gas, and none are easy to fix anymore. You have to decide what's more important, but personally, I'd never buy the eclipse, Mits are cheaply made cars.

Hey scotty, my car is vibrating on the driver side front wheel at 55mph, and after I go faster the vibrating seems to go away. I changed my brakes, rotors, tire and switched rims with another wheel, and so far nothing. Every once in a great while I hear a weird scratching/scraping noise, but it goes away. Is this my bearings or something else? Thanks!

@crazysamz could be bearings, or even an alignment issue. I had a BMW once that needed an alignment that did that, rare, but it can happen

Hey Scotty, I've been having a problem with my car when driving over bumps on any parking lot. The back of my car makes a squeaky noise every time I go over the bump. any idea what product I should use or buy to make the squeaking go away? This video shows how to attain SOME information that MAY be helpful in fixing your own car. If you aren't particularly good at teaching yourself how to do things then you may want to have someone who has done it (and succeeded) help you out. Just know that if you mess the car up even more and then finally bring it to a mechanic, you will be charged a lot more, especially if you bring it to me.

Hey Scotty, Idea for a video. How about looking at ABS fault codess? My 94 Celica GT4 WRC keeps popping up with the ABS light on the dash. Although when I bridge the connections for a diagnostic no error codes flash up...and the light sometimes does not come on. Very strange :)

Scotty, I bought a used car that came with a set of cheap HID headlights, they are low beam only, and when i turn them on, the radio goes static, as in the lights interfere with the radio signal. However, right when I turn them off, or when I use the high beams, the radio sounds perfect. So idk what to do or what could be causing it

Hey Scotty, as you may or may not know. I've got a Holden SS Commodore with the LS1 (featurered on my channel). Now at idle, and sittting at the lights, there is an ever so slight vibration I can feel through my seat at times. Ive driven a few other SS and even heard some of the newer ones do it also. But I wondered if it could be a Engine mount problem or is it just common with LS1 Gen 3's? I'm a mechanic and have asked a few guys I work with and they all reckon its common and normal.

I know I should check out your video's but you don't have one for my problems. Whenever I drive for awhile and I idle in traffic or whatsoever, my cars fine and same goes for when I put it in neutral but whenever if its in "park" it always idle's really low, rough and has stalled occasionally. Any answers? Its just weird to me how it only does it in park.
