Peter is so dejected. He's losing everything he believes in and cares for, and has entered that dark night when even his faith is at risk, which up till now has been steadfast, even if he's had doubts about his vocation (whether being a priest is the best way for him to serve God). He hates how he behaved when Assumpta came to see him at the rectory. There's just no place within or without that he can go for any answers. He's in the midst of an existential crisis that will define him as a man.
This scene is so painful. Peter cautiously and guardedly looks directly at Assumpta but she averts her gaze immediately. This must have pierced his heart to the core. He then more boldly catches and holds her gaze during the Yard of Ale scene, but it's become just too painful for him to be near her and for a time after this he tries to stay away.
Interestingly, none of the lyrics I've found online have the "Forgive me love, if I forsook you" line; I wonder if it was added for Peter & Assumpta? Also, I can't quite make out the last few lines of the last verse; what are the words?
Thank you for posting all these loved clips. Two requests... even though they don't necessarily have to do with Peter and Assumpta... the opening scene in the first episode when Liam and Donal are bringing in the confessional and it falls off the truck. The scene got me hooked! Other request: Three Lasses from Banyon in Chinese Whispers. Thanks again. I've really enjoyed re-watching these favorite moments again and again.
After 10 years I finally found this video and my favorite song!!! I just can not believe!!! Thank you!!! P.S. I also found at least 5 different lyrics?!
yay for ballyk! can anyone help me out with the lyrics toward the end? "but what cannot be cured, love, must be endured. something, something, something, till the day i die."
Oh, maybe something more from the Christmas episode... If it's possible. I haven't seen it, except for the clip you posted here. Our local station didn't broadcast it and I can't find it anywhere else. Thanks.
Wow, thank you ! I wasn't expecting such a prompt answer, this is wonderful. This is actually one of my favourite moments from BallyK, along with a great conversation between Peter and Assumpta, in the first series (Matthew, chapter 19 vs. Pink Floyd), but that scene is already posted here, thanks to you. So, if anything else comes to my mind, I'll know who to turn to... Thanks again.

And at the end, Peter's reaction..and Assumpta leaves the bar rather sharpish.
*sigh* why did it have to end so badly?!

"I wish I was a maid again." Cue Fr. Mac glancing over at Assumpta, then turning back with a snicker. Gotta love it.

Forgive me love, if I forsook you
I was mistaken, I'll ne'er deny
But what cannot be cured, love, must be endured.
Love, 'tis his I'll be,'till the day I die.

@GenLovesBroadway - Sounds like "Love tis as I'll be til the day I die.'

Title of song: Love is Teasing.
Anyone able to avoid tearing up during this scene? Pass me a tissue. Fantastic top rate script.
Marianne Faithful sang this with a lot of soul, yearning for her youth again. Sad.

What is the name of this song and who sings it?
Please help me find them. It is driving me crazy.
If I find her name and the title maybe they will play it on MWIR.
