  • For Valentine’s day I gave my love a Daedra heart, black grand soul gem and some ebony ingots. She totally didn't get the reference either so I'm dumping her ass.

  • I have this tattooed on my arm

  • I rewatched the film last night and while there are many likeable elements to it (especially the cast) it does still feel a bit flat. I realise there were production problems, re-shoots by Chrichton after McTiernan was replaced, re-editing, re-scoring, etc. It just lacks the depth of characterisation in 'The Magnificent 7' or 'Zulu'. I wanted to like the film more and it has strengths, but ultimately it feels a bit underdeveloped. Still worth seeing, don't get me wrong.

  • nice

  • One of my most favorite movies! If anyone knows of any other great viking movies I'd be interested to see them.

  • @GOBRAGH2 "The Vikings" w/ Kurt Douglas, Tony Curtis and Ernest Borgnine. It is the standard by which all other American viking movies ought be measured.

  • LO,THERE DO I SEE MY FATHER...LO, THERE DO I SEE MY MOTHER AND MY SISTERS AND MY BROTHERS...LO,THERE DO I SEE THE LINE OF MY PEOPLE BACK TO THE BEGINNING...LO, THEY DO CALL TO ME. THEY BID ME TAKE MY PLACE AMONG THEM IN THE HALLS OF VALHALLA WHERE THE BRAVE MAY LIVE FOREVER...!!!

  • @CombatArchery it oten THERE DO I SEE MY FATHER oten THERE DO I SEE MY MOTHER it graet warrior movie

  • i love the rhetoric this shit kicks up

  • I love this scene and the duel. However, someone took a viking axe to the film in the editing suite and sent some of it to valhalla.

  • how did the arab knew the prayer ?

  • @kojima2013 because he learned to speak their language by listening to them talk remember he would have been with them for months because thats how long it takes to travel back in the day

  • @TheNightrunner666 yeah i know m8 , but they only say the prayer in a suicide battle , and this was the first ? lol anywat confusing :P , but its part of the movie ^^

  • @kojima2013 he would have learned their language..or perhaps they say it another time. or he was told of the prayer...

  • Conan's prayer to Krom > this prayer.

  • anen

  • @GRAPOLLO146 lololol denmark and sweden are some of the most advanced countries in the whole world, while greece is in a bankrupt, bloody idiot

  • The good times, when a man could just pick up a sword and fight for what he believed in... no politics or bullshit.

  • @jonnyjumpsalot

Don't you believe it. There has never been a time in human history when religion, politics and bullshit didn't play a large part. The past you're yearning for is a creation of nostalgia and wishful thinking, and has nothing to do with how people were, or how they are, and always will be.

  • @GRAPOLLO146 scandinavian countries are now more advanced than greece so stfu.

  • My club chants this before doing shots.

  • I've been watching Ironclad with Vladimir Kulich and just had to come watch this. The film's ok; won't break any records. But this scene, it's so heroic, it sends chills up my spine. I see my father!!!

  • @blagamoush10 ,

yeah i also watched it last week. he looks a little older now and thinner

  • @GRAPOLLO146 stfu. barbarians are better than stupid greeks.

  • Legendary

  • THIS IS A REALLY GOOD ADVENTURE MOVIE IT'S FRIGHTENING, WILL ACTED AND IT SHOWS, AS ILLUSTRATED DURING WORLD WAR II, THAT DECENT MEN, WILL RISE ABOVE THEIR RELIGIOUS,RACE OR CULTURAL BACKGROUNDS AND COME TOGETHER TO FIGHT EVIL. SO STOP GOING ON ABOUT WHO COMES FROM WHAT BACKGROUND BECAUSE WHEN THE CHIPS ARE DOWN NONE OF THAT MATTERS. ALL THAT MATTERS IS DECENCY AND COURAGE.

  • @MsMaynes your caps lock is on

  • @preachermuaddib

Thank you. I left it on because I wanted my comment to stand out. I really believe your background is unimportant. There are things that are fundamentally right and others that are fundamentally wrong and that in time all people will share this belief.

  • @MsMaynes It's not a compliment. If you can't make your point without shouting then it's not a point worth making. Most people don't even read posts in caps, I know I didn't as it just makes it seem like childish and attention seeking. It also suggests that you think your opinion and posting is more important than anyone elses, which if you are attempting to make a genuine point kind of hamstrings you.

  • If you have read the book "Eaters of the dead", this scene makes much more sense.

  • I hope that when I die I end up in the great halls of Valhalla...I was born in the wrong century...Valhalla is where I belong.

  • @tokabul You have to prove your Bravery and kill a few guys who deserve it first. Prove yourself to Odin the All Father!

  • @CrimesonWitcher

    You are just silly:)

  • @MsMaynes Why thank you very much, I try. Put a smile on your face didn't it? hehehe

  • @tokabul then you gotta die fighting for what you believe in,really, really fighting...like fighting 1v10 and dyng in that battle...

  • This would be an epic ass Metal album intro.

  • @TrollTusk Check out!!!,,,,Iuvenes-(Chariot Of Gods),,on youtube

  • why do ppl think the cave ppl were neaderthals??? just cuz they were strong??? its an adaption of the book where they were ppl but monsters i think. they dont look, act, sound like neanderthals. plus they were almost exclusively central euorpean. this is like north scandanvian right?

  • @vrlika1988

Where? - "They carry clean clothes and the men adorn themselves with bracelets and gold. They treat their slaves well and also they carry exquisite clothes, because they put great effort in trade. They have many towns. They have a most friendly attitude towards foreigners and strangers who seek refuge."(Ibn Rustah, 10th century persian explorer) In contracdition with Ibn Fadlān.

    Michael Crichton is not honest...

  • Victory or Valhalla!!!

  • the reason i could not like this movie was because i read the book "Eaters of the Dead"(Michael Crichton) from which the movie was based on....and they did not do a good job. beowulf and his team are suppose to be fighting beast, not wild natives, which i thought was kinda insulting if the directer was trying to portray indigenous people as cave monsters!

  • Comment removed

  • @DAREALSHADY1 beowulf? i believe he pronounced it buliwyf, although the story was really based off of beowulf.plus, michael crichton directed portions of the film.so if ur displeased with the movie, just know that the writer of the source material is also to blame.as for me,i was not completely disappointed.aside from turning the monsters into bloodthirty indigenous cannible people,it was fairly accurate.i mean they still believed them to be beasts like in the book.

  • @MrSFblack ..yeah your right..and thanks for understanding. but boy would it have been nice if it was what we all imagined!

  • WOW!! Nice pray!

  • One of the best movies ever, and without the praise. All of the negative critics can kiss my hairy ass! Odin!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i love this film..must have watched it a hundred times..and still it is simply amazing.

  • @GRAPOLLO146 Let's face it, The Greek & Goths were the best warriors during their times. They Both fought fiercely against armies 3x their size. They both had very good & efficient tactics. So I hope this ends our argument. Reply If you have anything else to say. By the way, what religion are you?

  • фильм хорош! музыка призывает

  • the man died like a true king

  • greeks, romans, japanese, vikings, etc brave, fearless warriosr we must respect all of them

  • Comment removed

  • Is the best death that a man can have

  • Proud of my people...

  • Bouliwyf will be remembered as a warrior among warriors! Fighting off the enemy, then standing there as a sentry in his final moments. Awesome scene, worthy of legendary status.

On a separate note, does anyone think that had this film come out more recently, the actor who played Bouliwyf would have looked awesome as Arthas The Lich King? That is to say, if Blizzard ever does get around to making the "live action" Warcraft film.

  • @GRAPOLLO146 If your warriors were so great, why did they disappear by the year 500 A.D., the Gothic Hay day?

  • @BryanTeeVee the vikings were very brave..but some of the greek people like spartans, tegeans, macedonians and argives were not just brave..they were totally fearless.

  • @aperantos13 As were the Berserker Vikings!

  • @BryanTeeVee anyway even if they had the same bravery the spartans were still more effective!;)

  • @aperantos13 Even so, the Goths could beat both groups of Warriors

  • @BryanTeeVee i dont think so..when the spartans formed the phalanx shield wall formation they were a death machine..nothing could stand against it

  • @aperantos13 That is true but The Goths caused the collapse of The Roman Empire.

  • @BryanTeeVee thats a different thing.the collapse of the roman empire wasnt only because of th goths.there were many reasons!

  • @aperantos13 What other reasons?

  • @BryanTeeVee corruption, revolts, mass defeats in britania, many barbarian invasions of huns, germanic tribes etc.they relied on mercenaries abandoning th legions, civil wars and many many more.the goths just took the oppurtunity and attacked to a very weak empire that was the shandow of its old glory.

  • @aperantos13 Very true, but where were all your precious Spartans by the year 400 A.D. or so?

  • @BryanTeeVee they didnt exist..sparta destroyed athens, thebes destroyed sparta and macedonia destroyed thebes...what does that mean?whats your argument?the spartans were the best warriors of all time..nobody could match them.there were not spartans by the year 400 A.D.cause during the civil war all greece was destroyed.tragic but true.

  • @aperantos13 So they all destroyed themselves? Smart...

  • @BryanTeeVee well..all we make mistakes..the greeks as a nation have this thing with civil wars.smart?are you ironic?its a matter of pride...the athenians didnt want sparta to be the ruler of greece, thebans also the same etc.still..that doesnt change the fact...spartans were the best of the best.

  • @aperantos13 You didn't fight each other for good reasons! The Goths worked together. There was still Tribal warfare but most worked as a team. The Gods told us to because to get into Asgard, you need to follow the 9 Noble Virtues. If all the Greeks worked together, they could over run the Roman Empire!

  • @BryanTeeVee look around you. We all destroy ourselves in the end. fucking America is falling apart due to pride and bullshit just like Rome did.

  • @CrimesonWitcher

Calm yourself , My Friend, We Still have 13 Brave Men in America

The Battle isn t over! ' Lo There Do I See My Father'

  • @CrimesonWitcher I dont see any problem in that, that's how our nature works, every empire must someday fall

  • @miisssiieekk You are correct of course but when the time comes that America has to fall I just hope it's at a time when it really needs it.

  • @CrimesonWitcher exactly...just look throughout history, every great empire has its downfall. ours will come

  • @CrimesonWitcher lol the american nationalism and anty social progam anti anything left politics we have today would be a nightmare for our foundng fathers as many of them writen personal journals and essay shwoing their leftist socialist anti christian opnions (pwned not gods country lol)

  • @CrimesonWitcher Rome was destroyed by jews and their Communism 1.0 invention known as Christ insanity...America is being destroyed by Communism and Christ insanity's cousin cultural marxism also created by jews. In the end Hitler was right. The Jews will be dealt with or we will die as a race.

  • @GRAPOLLO146 I totally respect Greek Culture & Religion(just so you know).

  • @GRAPOLLO146 You wore full body armor when us Goths would Wear light pants & Bear Skin shirts & go Berserk. Nobody could stack up to the Germanic Berserkers.

  • @GRAPOLLO146

    Just a question.

    Spartan or Viking?

  • @GRAPOLLO146 Just To Tell you, I Don't Have A Drop Of Scandinavian Blood In Me. My Germanic Tribe Is The Ubii Tribe & My Scottish Clan Is The MacGregor Clan. The Goths Could Bring Down The Greek Empire Over Night. I Say This Because If The Romans Took You Over, That's Pretty Pathetic!

  • @GRAPOLLO146 We Faced GREAT Armies & We Were GREAT Explorers!

  • @GRAPOLLO146 You Make It Sound Like You Faced Millions Of Armies At Once!! And There Are NO Traits In Vikings That Show Homo-Sexuality!!

  • @GRAPOLLO146 Screw You! Vikings Are Way Better!!

  • @GRAPOLLO146 you will die by my sword and axe !

  • That'll teach those enemy combatants a lesson!

  • a man dies as a king and is remembered for eternity

  • The part where Buliwyf sits down thrusting his sword into the ground with lightning and thunder ringing in the background. Then dies sitting up, sword in hand, eyes open ,his war dog at his side and his enemies corpses at his feet was epic. In that one moment his character became the Thunder god or Old One Eye himself...

  • @chadray

    Willie?

  • one of my favorite films of all time

  • HAIL to our old Gods!

  • Great movie you can say whatever you want but it's really good

  • Oh Come On! This is just a really cool story. Look up Ibn Faalan on the internet. He was a real person who told stories of his travels. He was the first Bilbo Baggins.

The movie is really cool as a work of fiction.

Why does everything have to be an insult to someone? Can't a person make up a fictional world loosely based on reality with out some taking offense? Jeeze, if your behavior were to suffer such scrutiny, you'd all be begging for mercy...

  • no one gives a fuck about you liberal democratic fuck, go back and crawl up nancy pelosi cunt hole.

  • You must be addressing someone else since I am a life-long republican who has no love for the dems or their leaders.

The 13'th warrior is a great deal of fun to watch. Getting upset over it makes no sense though. It was set in a time far away from us. No one alive to day is represented by peoples in the story. Even the Danes, who originated the Beowulf story, are quite different now than then.

  • beowulf is actualy an anglo saxon saga about danes

  • Beowulf was a Geat (Modern day Swede) as were his companions. They traveled to "Daneland"

  • Comment removed

  • @chadray ok yeah he was a geat but my point was it was an anglo saxon saga

  • This is how a KING dies. That is what makes him a KiNG.

  • this is my third favorite movie next to harry potter and lord of the rings... but the ending is really sad :(

  • dont be a weakling

  • this is a great film one of my top five, thanks for the post.

  • thor ja odin ovat minun jumalani

  • The people they fight are an association with Western & Southern Europeans from 20,000 years ago. The original book has them as Neanderthals (Netherlanders, that's where they come from) but the screen version of the story associates characteristics of ancient Europeans & with more modern Celtic people. Vikings are not Celts, in this film the Celtic-Romano people are cannibals and the Norse and Arabs are civilized.

  • @javonoUTube I did not read the book but I assumed, given evidence of Viking settlements in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia that the savages they were fighting were a mix of pre-Columbian (like the Ohio Mound Builders) and Native North Americans.

  • The film portrays the savages as Celts and other Indo-Europeans from prehistory. The horns of power are a Celtic characteristic and the little statues are associated with Aurignacian culture which is Asiatic-European. Most Europeans, Americans and British people are the savages, this film is an insult.

  • @javonoUTube insult to whom? To me there are some paradoxes here, if these are Asiatic-Europeans then they would be the people who were in what is now Russia and Ukraine - more so Ukraine (my anscestry) and then there are the Vikings. The original founders of Kiev and the Rurikovian dynasty from which the Kievan Rus originated were Vikings mixed with Asiatic nomads (Scythian and Sarmatian peoples) so effectively they were fighting their own (?)

  • @NYcgrguy Celts founded the Byzantine culture after they invaded Macedon around 300BC, then Celtic Romano people founded the Eastern Empire in Byzantium and then they moved north and created the powerful Christian princedoms of Russia. Vikings did not arrive on the scene until 700 Ad, nearly a 1000 years after. Cyrillic based upon Greek not Viking. Slavs are not Vikings, most Slavs are Haplogroup R1A whereas Vikings where Haplogroup "I".

  • cont- @NYcgrguy what you're basically saying is similar to saying that all people from Honh Kong are British or a large proportion of people from India are British because the British founded colonies there, lol

  • WOW... i didn't know that XD

  • The name Neanderthal has nothing to do with netherlanders.

The first Neanderthal skeletons were found in the Neander valley in Germany, or something like that. Wikipedia is an excellent resource for most subjects like this.

  • @LowellBoggs and the oldest ones were found in middle east i believe

  • Noble savages

  • Thank god we've got fuckin AK'S

  • Great movie and fantastic soundtrack.

  • Can anyone tell me what they mean with Lo, there??

  • lo 1. (archaic) Look, see, behold (in an imperative sense). 2. (colloquial) A shortened form of "hello" ('lo; see hallo)

  • Are those warriors they're fighting neanderthals? Oo

  • Kind of, They fight a tribe of a sort of Cavepeople. First they think they fight Demonfolks... But you should see the movie! It's awesome!!:D

  • I have seen the film, though I want to figure out what kind of people the "Wendol" is.

  • that arab is a true historic personality sent by the caliph of baghdad to journey as an ambassador and describe the Volga Bulgarian medieval state

  • now THAT is how a real man dies

  • adore that film

  • Great movie. But of course it's unhistoric fantasy like most films about the vikings.

  • maybe the 13th warrior thing is a fantasy and even Ahmed's life story to but the barbarians are true the Wendals

  • A True Warriors Prayer - Magnificent Movie!

  • WOTAN!!!!!

  • I like ameds prayer. May i live the next few minuets well.

  • Bouliwyf is BADASS! Going into a horribly mismatched battle even when wounded!! Idk bout the rest of you guys but this is one badassmothafucker! haha

  • I liked that the vikings used different types of armour/weapons and different fighting styles suggesting the extent of their travels. Also Boulfiwyf's death scene:seated on his throne his hound by his side and his vanquished enemy at his feet. WOW

  • basically its their taste in armor that works best for them and the way they fight, each viking was different, u'd never find a bunch of viking in the exact same gear unless thats all they had and even then there'd be minor differences, as to styles yes the longer they survived the more they learned through battle and training with each other.

  • On the Elite Armies of Olaf Trgyvasson and Harold Hardrada had the standard gear.

Also if they came from the same smith.

  • You are a coward if you think a Valhallian prayer is required before something as insignificant as that.

  • Comment removed

  • "Bulvi"'s name is actually spelled Bouliwyf.

  • Wow, i had no clue that other people were intrigued by that prayer, i memorized it the first time i saw it in the movie! GOOD POST!

  • first noted in 13thC

  • I have found the exact translation for you for Harrogate : place at the road to the cairn or heap of stones, OScan horgr+gata

  • Bulvi he waes gud aetheling.....

    Hrothgar he waes gud cynyng.

  • Trying to research a possible Norse word: haro or harro into English. Any ideas?

  • Could be related to modern English Harrow ,a temple or shrine. Saxon is Hearg from which we get hearth also

  • Many thanks for your help. I'm researching the town name of Harrogate. Even though some say the town wasn't founded until the post-medieval era I suspected there might be a Norse link through the use of "gate" in it's name.

  • I really loved watching this movie. This is one of my ultimate favorites alongside of Brave Heart, 300, and Troy.

  • Two things I like about the ending.

    1. The prayer and how Buvi walking out inspires everyone else.

    2. When Bulvi sits at the end of the battle, it shows that he is a king. Which is what he wanted to become for most of the movie.

  • It is one of the best exits I can think of offhand, brilliant. :)

  • Bulvi is actually Beowulf

  • didn't expect a michael crichton story like this. but he did write spy novels before. im sorry if this upsets you but the only reason he wrote it is because he accepted a bet that he could write an epic better than beowulf

  • He should accept more bets :)

  • Not now he's dead.

  • look at 2.22 how bonvaai knocks the leader of their pack to the depths of hades , and whos the mother fucker wannabee that stole my copy of this movie ..

patience my brothers we will unite once again

  • NORDIC people are persian are aryan are sythian, saka , medes, are jatt people from the punjab, they also are the celts and the mohicans , ....study this well

they are undoubtably the strongest of man the most noble and most layed back and this scene depicts perfectly how only few defeat great numbers of small neandethral brain indigiiuos tribes... as the cro magnon man is the direct parents of these beutiful yet "ugly" people

  • you fuckn idiot, a warrior have nothing to do with a deathmetal concert, the only think you are is a fuck drug mother fucker. go to smoke some marihuana with your stupid group.

  • Vladimir Kulich <3 <3

  • just love this movie

  • i think the leader sounds like a halfgod or something when he says : int he halls of walhalla " ...

  • ODINNNNN

  • LO THERE DO I HEAR GIRLY MEN TALKING ABOUT WARFARE!

The Vikings, Norsemen, etc. were so culturally distant from us in more respects than simply warfare. Its not far stretch to consider their lack of PTSD or "emotional fatigue" in battle. Their heaven was a constant battle for pete's sake!

  • LOL! well said!

  • LOL that was good.

  • @frankieboas86 dude, viking were the greatest warriors in my opinion, and defiantly the bravest, strongest and least cowardly. this prayer the halls of valhalla, is amazing.

  • @hero0fwar I always wish that ninjas and samurais was helping the vikings.

(I know its historically incorrect but hey one can dream right?)

  • @Cablo102 ME TOO!!

  • @Cablo102 Well not on the ninja part though cause I HATE ninjas!

  • @BryanTeeVee Why?

  • @Cablo102 Because They Were Too Scared To Fight Like Real Men!!
