Well, Blago got his today with the 59-0 vote to impeach. He's also finished from public office per the senate vote. Whats the boy going to do now. Maybe spend some time in jail for quite a while.
After that he may want to consider a career in radio broadcasting since he does have a way with words. Louisiana has it's own Edwin Edwards that was Governor for 3 or 4 terms. He was charismatic just like Blagoboy. Just more cunning. He has since retired and is living in the fed pen in texas.
Its against the law to even suggest trading for favors, which is what he is being accused of. He doesnt have to technically do anything. It still doesnt take away from the fact that Blogofuck is an narcissitic ass hole who needs to be thrown out of office.
Nobody can be surprised by any of this. Our government, from top to bottom, is infected with corruption. Oh sure, there are a few "good guys," but they have been exposed to the corruption, and are probably infected with it, too.
The first & second highest offices in the land have been occupied for the last 8 years by the most infected & infectious pair this this country has ever been openly exposed to. Their disease is so advanced that it has essentially killed the republican party.
bp, you nailed it. Well said and well reasoned. I've been calling for many of those points for years, but so have most everyone of all political stripes here in the Keystunned state. We could teach Illinois many things about systemic entrenched corruption. The only thing we couldn't teach them is how to get rid of it....we are a Commonwealth.
What do you expect? We have a system that ignores corruption in most instances. There are politicians that everyone knows are corrupt, abuse power, and are just flawed human beings, but are allowed to stay in office, and even re-elected.
This is not corruption, this is what you have to get through to get elected in a nation where money is the only thing that matters. Not even public opinion counts; money, only money.
Isn't it interesting how the United States criticizes Russian corruption and Chinese corruption and corruption in all kinds of other states when it still hasn't even come close to eliminating its own corruption problem.
ha... the true masters of corruption are the ones ruling this country. Most of us just don't see it because we are so well "conditioned" by our corporate-propaganda-machine-media. When something like this happens, know that he is being made an example of for something more behind the scenes than what he is being criticized for. They are ALL guilty of something... and since all of their phone calls are recorded, their sex-capades are photographed... they have something to lose.
BUT, the huge majority of your "representatives" in Washington are criminals. Almost ALL of them! They are working to destroy the US Constitutional government and they are doing it either because they are being blackmailed, bribed or physically threatened by the central bankers or their agents.
that's exactly right. They came down on him within less that 24 hours of his standing up to Bank of America, openly banning any municipality within Illinois to do business with B of A in a press conference late in the afternoon. Early the next morning he was arrested.
Yes, he was guilty. But, he is being prosecuted because he stood up to the banks.
The "Sopranos" are running the BANKS & the worlds GOVERNMENTS!
If we want to actually DO something to save the US Constitutional, we might as well put a 40 foot high wall around the capital and the whitehouse topped with razor wire.
Then, we must storm those palacial mansions and palaces of the bankers hidden on their manicured 2,000 acre estates and drag them kicking and screaming from their hidey holes and throw them in dungeons, try them and execute them for crimes against humanity.
seems to me eliot spitzer suffered from a similar situation.. play the game or we'll bring you down.. as truman said, 'a piano player in a whore house is a more honorable job than a politician..'
Money is the election. By saying that its a violation of free speech if my voice isn't 500 times louder than what you could possibly afford, that is a joke indeed. Everyone voice on the electives should be equal meaning a donation cap.
want to correct the system, or change it with better one, thats honest?, and u just don't know which wold work?seriously?....
very simple; stop making corruption possible in the first way . A child could do it! it is only necessary to go to the root cause of the problem, and not to the consequence that it produces ......
Politicians of mass destruction they have no more itelligence than a small soap dish. If the corruption is allowed it will debase the "value" of your currency. If government oversees the value of the "paper" how value do you put on this administion

If you consult the gentlemen who design the system they would not even call it a democracy but a federal republic.

i wouldn't call it either, i'd call it a plutocracy.

All government seats are for sale, but individuals can't sell them, that's only a job for the establishment in Washington.

Steps we can take to alleviate the situation:
* A few dollars from our taxes would give us billions of dollars to fund elections.
* Require TV Stations to provide equal time to any candidate that has a certain number of signatures on a petition
* Instant runoff elections
* Eliminate donations from special interest groups
* Get rid of the lobbyists
* Make recall elections easier to give the public a way to get rid of lemons

He is being used as a scapegoat by the reich.
Is he guilty? Well, of COURSE he is!

I would say: get a panel of experts (who have been writing about Washington), do an on going think-tank over the Internet.
This Washington Investigative Reporter, William Greider wrote a blow-by-blow, pain-staking account of the hows and the whys in his 1992 book:
Who will tell the People; The betrayal of American democracy
Warning--Don't read this book at night b4 you go to bed! (You may become so annoyed, sleep will be impossible! At least, that's what happened to me.)
