  • Daniel Stern Narrator, he was Cyril from the movie Breaking Away also about Indiana.

  • "You are watching what greatness is all about" I never knew that was about Larry Bird. Not surprised though.

  • Lol anyone else notice Kevin McHale's shitty analogies?

  • 2:46

  • youre blocked you sad dumb fuckin asshole.

and dont call me "bud" either you fuckin troll ass lil condescending piece of shit.

You're not cool or smart; youre just a PHONY wannabe asshole who doesnt know jack shit about basketball so you use passive aggressiveness and sarcasm and fake feined insults to make urself feel better about Jordan's tiny ass dick losing for half his career.

YOURE BLOCKED STUPID FUCKIN IDIOT SO STFU AND GTFO OR ELSE I'LL KICK UR ASS LARRY BIRD STYLE LOLS ;.

  • 3:50 - This story shows that Bird wasn't interested in the phony marketing that Jordan does. MJ has been anointed the goat the greatest ever to sell shoes, underwear, gatorade, french fries, the game, etc. Bird didn't play the game and perhaps it cost him. But for us real fans that know how it went down between the lines.....Greatest ever EASILY.

  • jordan was kareem to me.

put up awesome stats, but on his own probably would've only won half the chips he ended up winning.

he needs that consumate teammate guy with pippen and a top 3 coach of all time to harvest his talents the right way lols

i mean...........that sounds like alotta fuckin work to me lols ;.

Kareem needed Riley and Magic to rejuvenate his career.

I think MJ would've probably ended up like Kareem did in the 70s if it hadnt been for those 2 other guys lols ;.

  • @ry3304 u just made a fool of yourself by the way u personified MJ and kareem as a player. MJ had no one to help him at the start of his career with the bulls so he had to do everything. u talk about PIP and PJ as if they were already good when they first started there careers well you have to brush up with your basketball history bud coz they were nobody when they came in... they only got better as time went by, just like any other team that stuck together through the years...

  • @wornoutshoes11

Matter fact you could say Wilt and MJ have even more in common dumb little shit. He didnt' "need" to do anything "himself" asshole. Did Bird? When he literally had NO HELP AT FUCKIN ALL IN HIS FIRST FEW YEARS? Oh wait that's right no. He got to the ECF with fuckin Cedric Maxwell as his best teammate, a guy that never was an All-Star.

  • @wornoutshoes11

DONT YOU DARE FUCKIN SAY ANYTHING I'VE SAID IS FUCKIN EVEN CLOSE TO BEIN "STUPID" YOU SAD SHIT TALKIN TINY DICKED ASSHOLE LOSER.

EVERYTHING IVE SAID IS SPOT ON DUMB FUCKFACE JORDAN DICK SUCKIN LOSER.

Kareem had his career rejuvenated by Magic and Riley.....same is said with Jordan and Pippen and Jax and Tex Winter.

Jordan was destined to break records and that's it faggit.

Go suck his tiny black nigger dick somewhere else man. No one cares what you think loser.

  • @wornoutshoes11

Oh and GUESS WHAT ELSE FAGGIT TINY DICKED OLD HAIRY ASS LOSER -

Show me where I said he "needed" anyone else to accomplish shit dumb fuck. All I've ever said about Kareem is that Riley and Magic helped him win more chips you sad illtererate HYPOCRITICAL dumb fuckface loser.

Lols its hilarious, all these tiny dicked Jordan jockin assholes always come talk shit on here for absoultely NO REASON you nonsensical jerks.

Kareem won only 1 FMVP with LA, same as Worthy did.

  • @wornoutshoes11

The only one here who needs to brush up on shit is you faggit loser lols. It's so hilarious b/c its true. You probly dont even know jack shit about MJ himself asshole, or Kareem for that matter.

Go suck his dick elsewhere asshole.

Jordan lost half his career. Suddenly PJax comes on with Grant and Pippen and a few years later they're winning chips huh?

Meanwhile Magic and Bird win IMMEDIATELY in the nba. fuck off loser. you're just mad b/c YOURE WRONG!

  • @wornoutshoes11

oh and as for them "never bein the same" LOLS - YEA UR RITE DUMB LITTLE SHIT - B/C THEY ONLY GOT TO THE FINALS AGAIN IN 1991 WITHOUT HIM IDIOT.

NO ONE SAYS KAREEM WASN'T IMPORTANT YOU SAD HYPOCRITICAL MORON.

LOLS I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE YOU GET UR FUCKIN SHIT FROM ASSHOLE, BUT ITS NOT FROM ANY QUOTES I SAID LOSER.

I've always had alotta respect for Kareem b/c he was a real man, but Magic was the frontrunner on that team , SO JUST STFU WITH UR BULLSHIT MMK LIL SWEETIS ;.

  • @ry3304 u mad? does the truth hurts? stop thinking u might hurt yourself DUMBFUCK! LOL LOSER!!!

  • i dont mean to sound like a jerk im sorri lols i just hate jordan lols no offense man lols ;.

go read the jordan rules man lols, ull see what a fuckin asshole the guy was

sure he was INDIVIDUALLY arguable a top 3 player, but ask Tex freakin Winter and he'll tell u that Pippen meant more to Jordan than vice-versa lols

Listen, the only person he benefited was the owner lols.....

    listen if ur a gm.....or a coach........or a teammate....

do you REALLI want mj around lols, um no? :./

  • @ry3304 as for kareem... before the lakers, he has already won a ring and at that time he is the most dominant center of the league therefore saying he needed magic and pat who only started his coaching career in LA was kinda stupid. kareem was an integral part of the showtime lakers though overshadowed by magic he has always been a key factor and it was evident when after he retired the lakers were never the same again...

  • Does anyone know the name of the music that plays at the 1.28 mark of Part 8 of the Larry Bird video? Would really love to find this music. Please help.

  • what a great, great man

  • i mean ur kinda right tho i hate to admit it,

but the guy was so damn old school he drywalled his moms place himself, hed get into bar fights, he mowed his own lawn lols...

    so yea in a way....

but thats what makes him larry bird man, thats why hes so unique. i think i love him more for it, hes so quirky like that lols. he was an actual man, but yes ur right its kinda undeniable that if he didnt fuck up his finger or break his back so bad, hed have atleast 1 more chip prolli against LA

  • @ry3304 Don't get me wrong man I love Larry Bird. Bird contends he can't change his style he's probably right on that. I know Michael Jordan was embarrased about the attention he got when he used to go up in the air for a dunk and a lay up because he used to stick his tonuge out. But after focusing on not doing it he found it was effecting his game so he stopped worrying about it.

  • @dcc1980

lol i honestly just cant see parrish saying that shit lols i mean mabye he means if bird didnt dive for freakin loose balls hed have had a longer career but thats bullshit man lols

bird not crashin against shit isnt bird.

might as well ask bird not to be awesome too why dontcha lols

parrish wasn't shit without larry he would've been a 15 and 10 player for his career MAX.....

with bird he was a 20 and 10 allstar.... :/

  • Bird was great but his teamate Robert Parish criticism of Bird was he did'nt take good enough care of his body during his carrer and Parish contends if Bird did they would of won more championchips. Bird addresses this criticism in this clip as Artis Gilmore made the same critiscm.

  • @dcc1980

lol dude i love bird B/C of that not inspite of it....thats what made him who he is, thats like saying plz dont be who u are...

he wuldnt be great without it.

and i doubt parish said that man? whend he say it? b/c parish is probly only a hof b/c of bird lols.....

  • @ry3304 I read the quote years ago in a basketball paper when I was in high school 96 or 97 is my guess. It was'nt something recent and it was after he had left Boston during his playing carrer. Parish siad that his only regret was bird didn't take good enough care of his body that if he did they would of won more championships. At first when I read the quote I thought he might be of been referring to rest and recovery, but he likely was referring to what was siad in this clip.

  • Man I love Larry Bird, real legend.!!

  • he was born to wear the green/white of the Celtics!!!

  • thanks for sharing this vid.. larry bird is truly a legend...

  • I have this on DVD as part of the NBA Legends Set (also features Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan).

  • Great Doco, thanks for posting.

  • this guy is legacy..

  • amazing.

  • this was a good documentary

  • @mightyafrowhitey So-so. They didn't even mention his whole back injury, which was a *MAJOR* part of the second half of his career.

  • @7beers oh shut the fuck up. bird during his career never mentioned injuries or made excuses about them so why would they mention something so insignificant. they didnt really take a toll on him until the 88-89 season and they did say how injuries and deminishing physical skills led to the end of the celtics championship runs. plus this was made in 91, the year before his last season so you know absolutely nothing. you know jack fucking shit. this was a great documentary, you idiot.

  • @dawg55c You have said nothing to refute my comment.

  • @7beers wow then ur truly r a piece of fucking shit. you said they didnt even mention his back injury which was a big part of the second half of his career. IT WAS? when did it effect him? not until after the 88 season and they quickly touched on that. this documentary was aired on television, it wasnt like it could be two hours long and include every minute detail. holy shit ur fucking dumb.

  • @dawg55c A back injury which deeply affected the last several years of his performance and cut short what might have been an even longer career is not a "minute detail" The back injury occurred in 1985, and started to affect him as early as 85-86 -- even though that was a terrific year for the Bird.

  • @7beers @7beers Ya he was MVP in 85-86 and they won the title, why mention it? why mention it until his twilight years, which they did briefly touch upon. a longer career? he fucking played 13 years. he was 35 years old. he went out at the perfect time. he was still a good player when he retired. ya maybe he could have held on another 3 or 4 years and sucked just like everyone who stays around too long like olajuwon, ewing, barkley, pippen, shaq.

  • i mean holy christ it is a minute detail of his career. what do people remember bird for, his great play while winnning mvp's and championships or do they remember the back injury. come on man, wake up.

  • @dawg55c You are wrong.

  • You are watching what "greatness" is all about

  • Larry Bird = the greatest player ever, even better then Jordan, Kobe, LeBron and all the others

  • Im from Boston lived here all my life.

I gave you a thumbs up but Jordan.

Id like to think so my brain says Jordan my heart Bird.

  • I wish the NBA was fun again like in the 80's.

  • Does anyone know the name of the music playing at 1:27 - 2:55

  • More than just a Basketball story, he lived the American dream, coming from nothing to perhaps the greatest player ever. May that deam never go away, for future generations.

  • Haha the american dream... Dude believe it or not but you live in a low-wage country. Most of the people are poor. So it's like the Taiwan-Dream. In a couple of years you will have some form of civil war beacause people are starving

  • dude ur a fag. this countrys average american is not poor even in its economic crisis. to even compare birds poverty to the avaerage american is foolish. u shouldnt even be speaking.

  • @kubbyr

sorry to disappoint you but its already gone

  • Thanks!!! What a man he was sooo skilled but so humble.

  • 'down to earth' is the word, certainly not humble; he would trash talk and brag just about as much as anyone else...

  • legend

  • "mr wolfe i thought you said this call was important?" amazingly inspiring, nothing else matters than the game itself.

  • this is truly a great documentary. even non sports fans should watch this as this story is living proof of what hard work will get you, in any aspect of life. very touching story.

  • great man is always a down to earth man.he is the one that not blind with fame (3:50-4:30).

    thanks for posting.great vid.inspiring.

  • What's cool about larry is that he doesn't stop from being a good player but he also became a good coach. for his short stint as coach of indiana pacers he won the best coach of the year award. Very few players have won both MVP and Coach of the year awards. He really is great

  • Starting at 1:30 its so sad hearing the music and knowing his career was coming to an end already. He was such an awesome player and just great all around guy.

  • What the name of the song that starts at 1:28?

  • i wish i knew too

  • I wish I could have seen Bird play but seeing him retire must have been hard on hardcore Celtic fans

  • I absolutely love Larry Bird, he is the greatest ever player. I know Jordan was brilliant but I love Larry more.

  • Great Larry Bird!!! thanks for the video. how old larry bird did retire?

  • 1992 so i am pretty sure he was 36 years old

  • Bird and Magic showed the essential of this sport, the pleasure of basketball as a team game. Of course "God" Jordan achieved the impossible as an individual player, more than anyone of us could imagine before him, but not involved the whole team like Bird and (a bit more ) Magic did. I think the 80's were the golden era for basketball.

  • @juliojgr19 Jordan did better that both Bird and Magic with his team game too with 6 Championships, but it took Jordan years to learn how to play the team game. Magic won a championship in his first year, Bird won one in his second year. It took Jordan his 7th season to win one and I believe the Pistons taught him how to play team ball because of their "Jordan Rules" in which they double and triple teamed him. Jordan was forced to learn to get team mates involved to win a championship.

  • @Flipper79able You are true. Pistons had 9 good players making their job together, but his leader, Isaiah Thomas, was not a real team player. Jordan learned from them how important is the team to reach the titles and he made better than anybody. But this is not the real team game played by the Lakers and the wondeful showtime (85-87) or the Celtics and the intelligent collective perfection (1986); the reason are Magic and Bird and their unique talent. We miss the 80's.

  • @Flipper79able Jordan had it pretty easy in the finals compared to magic and bird. Magic is the best if you ask me. Jordan 91 -Subpar Lakers without Kareem 92-Blazers never won a ring 93-Suns no rings 96-sonics no rings 97-Jazz no rings 98-Jazz no rings Magic 80 - 76ers - Ring 82 - 76ers - Ring 85 - Celtics - Rings 87 - Celtics - Rings 88 -Pistons - Rings Bird 81 - Rockets - no rings 94 - Lakers - Rings 86 - Rockets no rings
  • @Flipper79able Jordan won more championships but he did it against weaker teams, When the NBA expanded the talent pool was thinned out. Had Jordan entered the NBA at the same time as Bird and Magic, he wouldn't have 6 rings. Both Bird and Magic are better team players, just look at the assists! Coach Jackson had to scream at Jordan to pass the ball. Jordan gets the nod for scoring and defense, but Bird and Magic will enable a coach to build a better and more successful team.

  • @juliojgr19 I agree NBA in the 80s was like heavyweight boxing in the 70s.

  • @juliojgr19

    astute assertion man...

not much else to be said..... ;.

  • @juliojgr19 What are you talking about? Jordan did in no way win his championships on his own.

  • @thenintendogamer Of course not, but Jordan played as any other superstar in NBA game, just much better than anyone and problaby with the strongest winner mentality in the history of sport. With Bird and Magic team game had another kind of touch, another kind of meaning. Maybe you can only feel in this way if you really lived that era (abd I'm so "old" now...).

  • @juliojgr19

BHWHAHA LOLS STFU ASSHOLE LOLS THE FUCK ARE U EVEN TALKIN ABOUT U TINY DICKED ASSHOLE LOLS

a.) jordan spent half his career losing.

b.) didnt win shit until phil jackson

c.) didnt do jack shit with the wizards lols, even with totalitiarian control as gm and player lols

d.) was a ballhog who made his teammates WORSE often. sure they say he helped raise pippens game, but guess what.........he DESTROYED like half his teammates careers lols, go freakin ask them urself lols ;.

  • You are watching what greatness is all about.

Gives me goosebumps everytime I hear that.

  • the first time I saw that tape was when I was like 3 years young.

L.B is in my opinion is the best player ever

  • its just 1 documentary, but i remember seeing this when my grandpa showed it to me probably 12 years ago when i was like 7. Just from this video, he became my favorite player, still is too this day.

  • good series, amazing player

  • this is such a good doc. b/c its a human interest story.....and well b/c bird is the greatest player ever and my pers. favorite.

i mean what tribulations did magic go through?

and i love magic, i respect the guy alot, but bird has always sort of been a rocky story...

  • "what tribulations did magic go through?"

    HIV not enough for you?

  • You insult me and then apologize in the same reply. Don't know what the backspace key is for? Maybe you just want to get away w/ it. Well then FUCK YOU!!! Sorry about that.
