  • heej me oude klas genootje is dit in de 4de in het examenjaar heb ze dit gemaakt> leuk om na zoveel jaren terug te zien! xx Riane

  • Wonderful!

  • Funny swahili accent though....

  • @gitmacz she is not a swahili speaker. She is from Benin in W/Africa

  • love it

  • Enchanting voice! :)

  • A song about ME, I love it..

  • A fantastic arrangement of the "MALAIKA" sheet-music (including the original rolling-bass), PLUS the lyrics, rhymed translations, chords and programme notes about the song, can be found by Googling 'konkani songbook'. Really fabulous!

    (Zoek: Youtube Fadhili Williams.

  • such a beautiful voice. and get melody

  • some of the notes held between 2.10 and 2.46 quite unreal - only Kidjo could do this. A spine tingler!

  • in my country (Haiti) when I was growing up every kid knew that song and we sing it for love, sadness any feeling. Even today I am not quite sure what they are saying but we still have a strong connection and I really thought that song was from my country lol......this is the song of my heart

  • I've known this song since my childhood yet Angelique has this strong voice that brings it home to me. I will always prefer the Makeba version but this version is just as powerful. We can celebrate both women.

  • Just to be clear - this is the voice of Angelique Kidjo, not Clarissa, who is miming.

2nd point - Kidjo gets massive criticism for her pronunciation - however I discovered this beautiful song from hearing Kidjo's version on the soundtrack of a French movie - I have heard all other versions and this gets the heart and soul of the song better than any other, including that by Fhadili William. Apologies to all Swahili speakers.

  • oh what a wonderful voice. how can somebody blame her just because of the lyrics ???weiter so !! andreas

  • what a cutie:-D but unfortunately, this version isn't proper swahili:(

  • Hey,she sings all swahili, only that her swahili is reeeally bad,,no other language..its goes like .. malaika, nakupenda malaika, nami nifanyenje,,,, kijana mwenzio,,,, nashindwa na mali si nawe,, ningekuoa malaika. pesa,,za-sumbua roho yangu,,,,,2 nami nifanyenje,,kijana mwenzio,,, etc kindege,,,nakuwaza kidege,,, naminifanyenje,,, etc

  • Can somebody put up the right lyrics? I will like to have it

  • Helloooo... she is probably singing the "Angelique Kidjo's" version, who is partly in swahili and partly in another african language !??. Nice voice though.(check out clip by equinorox) It is such a strong song that many international artists have recorded it including Miriam Makeba, Boney M, Hary Belafonte and Helmut Lotti. First recorded in 1962 by Kenyan artist Fhadili William.

  • Only1Dinia what other Africa language is she singing in apart from Kiswahili? She missed the Kiswahili lyrics and went on mumbling incomprensible things! She should have done the song phonetically to get it right.

  • I wish someone would put ms Makeba's version, even thoe Angelique has a fine voice...I would love to hear the great one :)

  • She has a really really nice voice.Even if, from what i read, she has the lyrics all wrong.Cant deny her talent.

  • poor lyrics, I speak swahili, this is far off! good try though...kept the melody and rythym, work on the words though otherwise the song means nothing because the most important words that give meaning to the song are all wrong!!!

  • did u even sing this yoself...?..i doubt

  • What is she thinking?....posting herself DESTROYING an otherwise beautiful song!

    STOP!!

  • ms makeba say, malaika, nakupenda malaika +2 ningekuoa maliwe, ningekuoa dada nashindawa na mali sina we,ningekuoa malaika +2. pesa zasumbua roho yangu +2. nami nifanyeje, kijana mwenzio nashindawa mali sina we,ningekuoa malaika, kidege, hukuwaza kidige +2

  • Thanks for the lyrics, I know this song by Bony M and that is a little more swinging. Greetings from Holland

  • other-wise, beautiful voice.we both agree.

  • Sounds like me singing Malaika in the car to myself, I know some kiswahili my wife is kenyan but when I cannot remember the words I just make them up as she is obviously doing, however nobody listens to me sing (they mostly run away).

  • Just magnific...you are the most beaultiful gril in this world

  • I was right when I said that wasn't Mairiam Makeba singing in an earlier post it's this girl spoiling for MS. Makeba. I have the original Makeba CD and I knew she never said those words. Sure she should have learned swa first or atleast memorize the right words. This is Horrible!!!!!!!

  • The original singer of Malaika is Fadhili William(RIP). He is now deceased. He passed on a couple of years ago. I just fail to understand how a person can just pick a song and mumble incomprehinsible things. I hate listen to this clip. The more I listen to words, the more I feel irritated.

  • ms makeba say, malaika, nakupenda malaika +2 ningekuoa maliwe, ningekuoa dada nashindawa na mali sina we,ningekuoa malaika +2. pesa zasumbua roho yangu +2. nami nifanyeje, kijana mwenzio nashindawa mali sina we,ningekuoa malaika, kidege, hukuwaza kidige +2

  • I swear for those who know this song and can talk some Kiswahili, this song is disgusting. Is Kiswahili that she is singing? Terrible. I felt irritated when I first listened to it. I beg anybody who knows Clarissa to tell her to try and get her words correct before singing this song!

  • For heavens sake learn Kiswahili first before singing this song. You are just mumbling incomrehensible things. By the way this song was sang by Fadhili Willliam, a Kenyan Musician, in the late fifties early sixties.

  • For heavens sake learn Kiswahili fast before singing this song. You are just mumbling incomrehensible things. By the way this song was sang by Fadhili Willliam, a Kenyan Musician, in the late fifties early sixties.

  • there goes 'malaika'

    where is boney & m...

    TN

    CMB/SL

  • go learn the swahilli first and then sing it.

  • I concur with you. This lady should learn Kiswahili first. What does she mean by saying NAKUPENGA MALAIKA NASHINGA NA MANI SI NAWE NINGEKUOMA? PESA ZASUDUA NYUU NYINGU?

  • MALAIKA is a name and she say Malaka I was gonna married you but i dont have money

From USA where are you from

I am from Burundi and I am here in USA

  • i agree! lyrics are wrong.

  • True! These people messed with such a nice song!

  • It was composed with Kenyan musician in 1960

  • Brilliant.

  • I love this song, it's about my name. . . Malaika!

  • xD

    It's my name too!

  • i love this song!

  • that was playback, with original voice from angelique kidjo!

  • good !!!
