@Portugueseguy8 Pick your poison. You want Samurai with the muskets that mean he would be in the category of Gun Powder and still lose to the Spetsnaz. A greeks from the 1600 had Muskets as well and still win against the samurai. LOL
Anyone else see the irony of having the student - host explain each move and technique while the teacher is standing right next to him, waiting to continue?
Yes and No, I can see why they do it because it is a TV show, but when learning to me the best way to see if someone actually gets the concepts of what you have taught them is to have them attempt to explain and teach as well.
@Bjerhof Dont make fun of wood and leather ok? Its innovation that was WAY before the Europeans were still having Chainmail that break within contact n doesnt rebounds arrows. Chinese lent their development to Japan n they quickly learned that Wooden and Leather saves weight for the soldier rather than having steel or iron plates and the wood would stuck a arrow on the armour n not go through like the chain.the wood is hard so it could withstand hard blows n not break like the mail
@MrLolx2u Dosn't change the fact that japanese armour was made of metal...only exception is the scale armour (Kozane), other than that it was metal rivited or laced together and laquered.
@Bjerhof It depends on the time period. At a certain point the samurai armor was made out of Wood, Leather and Metal. But don't get confuse with the Knight Samurai is not protected head to toe with Metal. And they did have chainmail in the parts of the samurai armor.
@LoneMyth Parts of the armour was made of a small piece of chainmail yes like the Kote, but the Kabuto, do, kuzasuri, suneate and other parts were metal plates.
Like I said earlier leather armour was used before they started using metal but that was mainly in scales (Kozane)...but something tells me it's useless to argue this.
@LoneMyth but in the show they are talking about an expecific time, during the battle of Sekigahara they were using metal in the helmet, cuirass and the bracers (metal strips), of course they were not as armored as the medieval knight, but they were using extensively metal on their armors
I was under the impression that fire arms destroyed the Samurai because anyone with a few hours training could use them so no special class was needed to fight. . . .
@dixon97a With those rifles do require skill to aim and load the gun with quick time and make every shot count. And those time those rifles were in formation.
Yeah nothing says better that u're ready to die and you don't care about your life than 1 inch of steel armor....
