This is extremely uncommon, but it is an example of the way many muslim societies coerce non-muslims into Islam by limiting thier rights and freedoms. In Malaysia for example a Malay has to be a Muslim by law, but any ethnic group can be considered Malay if they convert to Islam and adopt Malay customs. Malays are given advantages in employment and education and is enshrined in law at the expense of others. The Buddhists are vastly Chinese, but less than 1% of Chinese are muslim.

I don't understand how you can "convert" a Buddhist. Buddhism is a way of life, I suppose the -ism is confusing to a few. A person is a person, a bottle of ketchup is a bottle of ketchup, you can't convert a bottle of ketchup to a bottle of mustard.

There is a great divide between Buddhism & Islam in its attitude to any kind of killing. Mohammad himself committed murderous acts: Abu Afak was renowned elderly poet from Medina. Mohammad sent his henchmen to kill him; they did it, whilst that man was sleeping. Asma Bint Marwan-was respected woman poet & a young mother; she too, along with her baby was killed, and the manner of killing is disgusting-it was done while she was suckling her baby. There is no excuse for these acts, in Buddhism.
