@kojak14461 Exactly right. It's like saying that because Michelangelo, Claude Monet, and Maxfield Parish are not the same, then one of them must be doing it wrong.
@kojak14461 No, you are wrong. People who really understand martial arts do not criticize wu shu or any other form of martial arts. By saying "People that really understand Wu Shu" you are already stating that only by understanding wu shu, will one know not criticize other martials arts. I say its not the weapon, its the person using that weapon. meaning its character that counts.
@GamingPro2 You've got alot to learn. You're mind is still very narrow. Its not the stlye that matters but its what you do with the style. Here's a lesson i learned from bruce lee. Take what you need and find that helps you. Leave the rest behind but do keep it in mind for future references.
@martinwettig it not even looks like it is chen style. take a look at the first minutes of the video. if youre introduced in chen style tai chi chuan youll find a lot elements out of the first and the second form
taichi focus on power (inner energy) not strength, I'm not saying u can break a stone by struck, but u will get more comfort through steady breathing, the movement of taichi is pure reflection of self mood
@TheSilatiger it is definetly tai chi but i think the description is wrong it looks more like chen style ... could also be 2nd yang form havent learned this yet ... as 2606keith already said tai chi is a combat skill and could easily kill a person
some of those strikes wouldnt knock a man down, the partner in this is doin a great job of falling ,he should be in hollywood-all looks good in effects but in reality wouldnt work
Tai Chi was invented by Chen Wang Ting a general in Ancient China who killed over 1000 singlehandedly based on 32 styles of Qi Ji Guang (another famous general) combined with Dao Yi. If you say that Tai Chi is an art and not a combat skill you are wrong. The Chan Style Tai Chi was the most original Tai Chi and can easily kill any attacker. Chen Style Tai Chi is hard to learn and master. That's why there are few true experts in Tai Chi. My grandmaster Fong Zhi Qiang is one such expert.

But it doesnt matter if its strong but it does matters how you use it now, it may be strong but the reality is that in the actuality you cant find that much of good tai chi users
@jorgebeltran That's because the application of Tai Chi isn't really taught these days. Speed up the moves and you have yourself a deadly martial art.
@rom2014 You dont get my point, it doesnt matters if it is the strongest martial art, there is always someone who can defeat you using something different.
@rom2014 How ignorant. MMA is usually Muay Thai (which was used by soldiers when they lost their weapons.) The same goes for Jiu-Jitsu, which is usually the other half of an MMA fighter. An MMA fighter will win against a tai chi fighter even if the experience levels are vastly different because MMA fighters train to FIGHT. Tai Chi is an art. It might work against untrained thugs on the street, but not against an MMA fighter who is trained in combat.
@SeanX1981 never seen taichi in mma so i dont know. tai chi was one of the biggest martial art in china though. which other two are ba ji and ba gua zhang working with simular principle. the original tai chi was an assisination martial art in china which was the root of most japanese martial art including jiu-jitsu. and taichi was generally more popular with sword than open hand combat, and simular to shao ling, they are famous for art of war.
agreed, MMA is just a sport dazzled in fame by many westerners, however even MMA isn't that big of a competition. Fighting where there are no rules is a truer way to show your skills, not with this, punching with gloves and no attacking certain parts of this body, shit. In a real situation you should finish off your opponent in 3 secs maximum, otherwise what the hell would you do if there were more than one enemy ._.
mma ufc is for street thugs. the sport has no grace and offers nothing positive to the world. at least boxing thai boxing martial arts is a discipline. i thinkmma and ufc is for a degenerative subculture world. there is no art or beauty in it just violence for little boys that need to be in prison. you cant compare mma to tyson ali holyfield lewis etc. mma is gross
@Zarafraze how can you ever expect to master this martial art if you don't believe in a soul, and if you do, then you'd realise that it is not inner peace that powers this art, but the very core of your spiritual energy, which is why i've started watching tai chi, hence the word chi, look it up ;)
I like his personality...but how can this guy be proficient in EVERYTHING when there is people they need their all life to master 1 martial art??? This guy teaches JKD, Tai chi, Wing Chun.....i do not understand...still he seems he knows what is doing...
@dangerouswater One can know how to teach really well and know the theory of a martial art to the fullest extent but he might not be able to use all of them against another master in the art.
@Beenie0085 BJJ is only good one on one. In a real street fight there is a possibility of being attacked by more than one person. In that situation, it is useless. That is when you would need something such as Krav Maga, Wing Chun, or even aikido. UFC fighters could beat a traditionalist in the ring, but in the street the traditionalist would win 9 times out of 10.
yeah it works for jet li movies! maybay after 5-7 years of hard training!
i think the UFC fighters are the gladiators of our time! to mix all styles and watch who is the best is nothing wrong! watch and enjoy or shut the fuck up
on youtube alot of videos looks very confident but in a real situation i swear on BJJ
i forget the martial art but they had a documentory on it it was on human weapon and they showed this master who was sparing with his student and it was very close quarters i mean inches away and it was quick hand movements he pounded his students chest what seemed only slight but 3 minutes later the kid was throwing up a hell storm after it and the master said, i wasnt going full force on him if i had he would have been nere fatal wounded
This guy would get his ass kicked if he was to be in an mma fight. It has already been proven that these forms of martial arts do not cut it in the world of mma.
And before anyone even tries to argue this point...... ask your self this question "Why are there no kung fu, tai chi, karate or taekwando practitioners in the UFC?
Yes there maybe fighters who's background is one of these mentioned styles but they have to evolve as fighters to make it in the sport.
@Gruffington31 The reason there are no Eastern styles in the UFC because the UFC has limited the sport. No small joint manipulations,Striking downward using the point of the elbow, throat strikes, spinal strikes, heel kicks to the kidney, groin kicks. In short UFC is a boxing match with some take downs and submissions. A martial arts practitioner is not a fighter. When they do fight, it is to defend theirs or a loved ones life. You said it yourself. To make it in the sport. Sport being the key.
@Deviantblade88 So what your saying is that without small joint manipulations,Striking downward using the point of the elbow, throat strikes, spinal strikes, heel kicks to the kidney, groin kicks the rest of the style is useless? Without these deadly blows there is nothing left to inflict damage and end a fight?
@Gruffington31 What I'm saying is, that it does hamper a live or die fighting styles moves, it would be like letting a gracie ju jitsu practicioner in and saying, ok, no grappling. Or a kickboxer in and saying, hey, no kicking!
@Deviantblade88 Up until UFC 14 all fighters were able to fight "no holes barred" and during that time there were no Karate, Tai chi, win chun........ whatever styled.......champions!! So that puts your last comment out the window!
@Gruffington31 So what you're saying then is that a style like krav maga is also useless since there are no MMA champions claiming the style? Even tho it's taught as the hand to hand combat fighting system for the Israeli Special Forces? You fail to see the difference between a sanctioned round in an arena, and a fight to the death. No amount of talking will clarify that for you. We just don't agree, plain and simple, you're opinions don't make it fact gruffy. Nor does mine.
@Gruffington31 Also don't think I'm taking away from UFC fighters, they are wonderful Athletes and skilled competition fighters. But fighting for money and gouging out someones eye because they're trying to rape you are two different things. Different extremes.
@Mrbuddhistman I will say this again!!! Up until UFC 14 all fights were no holes barred and no gloves were worn and during that time they were NO tai chi, wing chun, karate or ching chong wong chop. champions! I belive tai chi is an effective form of relaxation nothing more!
@Gruffington31 I'd like to add to your comment. Um I've watched and trained in m.m.a. since I was about 15 years old. This was during the era when it was just called N.H.B. I agree that there where no winning traditional martial arts or how you say ching chong art . I found offensive but I'ma look past it. Back then a lot of it was dominated by greco roman wrestling type styles and tank abbot type fighters, with b.j.j.
Now it seems to be the thing in America to fallow suite with the trendy sport. Meat heads who could not throw decent punches say that ground fighting is the best style ever and that elbows and knee strikes are pointless unless you have them pinned to the floor. Also that boxing is not useful skill set either. But then we notice fighter getting they shit pushed in by a upper cut or knocked out due to a phillie shell elbow. And gues where those techniques came from????
@DisBoiRytehere the ancient greec, in which those days, you didnt have boxing gloves, but hardend leathers straps with iron studs on them which would pretty much smash ones brains in. The Iliad has a very nice passage about that. as for another ancient greec martial art: pankration or 'anything goes'
@speedcoregewalt I took time to look into pankration. I found it to be interesting and informative. I was not meaning to sound disrespectful to any mans art. In my survey of world history class I took a high interest in Spartan way of life. The lliad was a book that all spartan soldiers where required to remember. They did that by singing passages. My argument is with UFC fans that make cliche statements because their schooling has lead them to believe they are the shit.
@DisBoiRytehere true true. Do you study history at College, because4 if you do, So do I!! No, what I meant whas that there are a (few) 'western' 'Europian' martial arts that involve more techniques than bludgeoning your enemy with your fist> For example Pankration also involves philosophy, mind control etc etc. but i understand what you mean and i agree for a large part. also fun martial art: Tessenjutsu or way of the war fan
@speedcoregewalt Yeah , I'm in agreement. I was in college for awhile. Long story short out side interference from a evil she devil ruined it for that semester. I appreciate the conversation. It was a good one. Enjoy your weekend.
@speedcoregewalt victory in martial science can be broken down into a few elements. Flow, rhythm and chi are the same. Timing and tactical positioning are important as well. I respect b.j.j. but its not as useful when being attacked in a bathroom stall or a environment where the floor is not a option. The video illustrates a technique, some argue to many movements. A thinker would understand 2 cut out the dressing and eat the meat with potatoes.
@speedcoregewalt not to keep up with this subject. But I might of misread your reply to my post. Are you trying to tell me that the use of the phillie shell and other techniques that I have mentioned are greek? Because if so I am not in agreement with you. I just had to slear that up.
@Gruffington31 The concept of tai chi is about using leverage and taking the flow of your opponent. And yes these application r quite effective if u knew how to apply them to ur style. The shield/cover that mma fighters use is a ching chong martial art technique. The crab shell defense 2 a simple shoulder roll did not come from European style of defense. All the great stand up fighter from boxing to M.M.A. took from wing chung and karate. trapping punches to footwork.
I've studied the art for a number of years and I aspire to reach anything that even resembles what Sifu Wong just demonstrated. Most impressive, thanks for the pos
With this style of fighting you are unbeatable, really. Laotse said once "The soft defeat the hard". And thats true

@rom2014 You dont get my point, it doesnt matters if it is the strongest martial art, there is always someone who can defeat you using something different.
jorgebeltran 3 months ago
@rom2014 How ignorant. MMA is usually Muay Thai (which was used by soldiers when they lost their weapons.) The same goes for Jiu-Jitsu, which is usually the other half of an MMA fighter. An MMA fighter will win against a tai chi fighter even if the experience levels are vastly different because MMA fighters train to FIGHT. Tai Chi is an art. It might work against untrained thugs on the street, but not against an MMA fighter who is trained in combat.
SeanX1981 2 months ago

@dangerouswater One can know how to teach really well and know the theory of a martial art to the fullest extent but he might not be able to use all of them against another master in the art.
Walle91 7 months ago
@Beenie0085 BJJ is only good one on one. In a real street fight there is a possibility of being attacked by more than one person. In that situation, it is useless. That is when you would need something such as Krav Maga, Wing Chun, or even aikido. UFC fighters could beat a traditionalist in the ring, but in the street the traditionalist would win 9 times out of 10.

Gruffington31 10 months ago
This guy would get his ass kicked if he was to be in an mma fight. It has already been proven that these forms of martial arts do not cut it in the world of mma.
And before anyone even tries to argue this point...... ask your self this question "Why are there no kung fu, tai chi, karate or taekwando practitioners in the UFC?
Yes there maybe fighters who's background is one of these mentioned styles but they have to evolve as fighters to make it in the sport.
Gruffington31 10 months ago
@Gruffington31 The reason there are no Eastern styles in the UFC because the UFC has limited the sport. No small joint manipulations,Striking downward using the point of the elbow, throat strikes, spinal strikes, heel kicks to the kidney, groin kicks. In short UFC is a boxing match with some take downs and submissions. A martial arts practitioner is not a fighter. When they do fight, it is to defend theirs or a loved ones life. You said it yourself. To make it in the sport. Sport being the key.
Deviantblade88 10 months ago
@Deviantblade88 So what your saying is that without small joint manipulations,Striking downward using the point of the elbow, throat strikes, spinal strikes, heel kicks to the kidney, groin kicks the rest of the style is useless? Without these deadly blows there is nothing left to inflict damage and end a fight?
Gruffington31 10 months ago
@Gruffington31 What I'm saying is, that it does hamper a live or die fighting styles moves, it would be like letting a gracie ju jitsu practicioner in and saying, ok, no grappling. Or a kickboxer in and saying, hey, no kicking!
Deviantblade88 9 months ago
@Deviantblade88 Up until UFC 14 all fighters were able to fight "no holes barred" and during that time there were no Karate, Tai chi, win chun........ whatever styled.......champions!! So that puts your last comment out the window!
Gruffington31 9 months ago
@Gruffington31 "No holes barred" lol. I'd like to see UFC where they stick fingers up each others' holes
jomper 8 months ago
@jomper LOL, isn't it no holds barred? I imagine that must include holes.
dayvconsir 7 months ago
@Gruffington31 So what you're saying then is that a style like krav maga is also useless since there are no MMA champions claiming the style? Even tho it's taught as the hand to hand combat fighting system for the Israeli Special Forces? You fail to see the difference between a sanctioned round in an arena, and a fight to the death. No amount of talking will clarify that for you. We just don't agree, plain and simple, you're opinions don't make it fact gruffy. Nor does mine.
Deviantblade88 9 months ago
@Deviantblade88 You are so right. thanks for the post. when will the Ring dummies ever learn?
foxybrown2 9 months ago
@Gruffington31 Also don't think I'm taking away from UFC fighters, they are wonderful Athletes and skilled competition fighters. But fighting for money and gouging out someones eye because they're trying to rape you are two different things. Different extremes.
Deviantblade88 10 months ago
I'd imagine there are none of those martial arts in UFC because you have to wear fucking gloves? Making every martial art you just mentioned useless.
Mrbuddhistman 5 months ago
@Mrbuddhistman I will say this again!!! Up until UFC 14 all fights were no holes barred and no gloves were worn and during that time they were NO tai chi, wing chun, karate or ching chong wong chop. champions! I belive tai chi is an effective form of relaxation nothing more!
Gruffington31 5 months ago
You relax in tai chi to avoid locking your muscles in a fight..
Mrbuddhistman 5 months ago
@Gruffington31 if u really believe that tai chi is no good 4 fighting go challenge master wong u've obviousely never been hit by any1 of his calibur
stovall1231 5 months ago
@Gruffington31 I'd like to add to your comment. Um I've watched and trained in m.m.a. since I was about 15 years old. This was during the era when it was just called N.H.B. I agree that there where no winning traditional martial arts or how you say ching chong art . I found offensive but I'ma look past it. Back then a lot of it was dominated by greco roman wrestling type styles and tank abbot type fighters, with b.j.j.
DisBoiRytehere 3 months ago
Now it seems to be the thing in America to fallow suite with the trendy sport. Meat heads who could not throw decent punches say that ground fighting is the best style ever and that elbows and knee strikes are pointless unless you have them pinned to the floor. Also that boxing is not useful skill set either. But then we notice fighter getting they shit pushed in by a upper cut or knocked out due to a phillie shell elbow. And gues where those techniques came from????
DisBoiRytehere 3 months ago

DisBoiRytehere 3 months ago
@DisBoiRytehere true true. Do you study history at College, because4 if you do, So do I!! No, what I meant whas that there are a (few) 'western' 'Europian' martial arts that involve more techniques than bludgeoning your enemy with your fist> For example Pankration also involves philosophy, mind control etc etc. but i understand what you mean and i agree for a large part. also fun martial art: Tessenjutsu or way of the war fan
speedcoregewalt 3 months ago
@speedcoregewalt Yeah , I'm in agreement. I was in college for awhile. Long story short out side interference from a evil she devil ruined it for that semester. I appreciate the conversation. It was a good one. Enjoy your weekend.
DisBoiRytehere 3 months ago
@speedcoregewalt victory in martial science can be broken down into a few elements. Flow, rhythm and chi are the same. Timing and tactical positioning are important as well. I respect b.j.j. but its not as useful when being attacked in a bathroom stall or a environment where the floor is not a option. The video illustrates a technique, some argue to many movements. A thinker would understand 2 cut out the dressing and eat the meat with potatoes.
DisBoiRytehere 3 months ago
@speedcoregewalt not to keep up with this subject. But I might of misread your reply to my post. Are you trying to tell me that the use of the phillie shell and other techniques that I have mentioned are greek? Because if so I am not in agreement with you. I just had to slear that up.
DisBoiRytehere 3 months ago
@Gruffington31 The concept of tai chi is about using leverage and taking the flow of your opponent. And yes these application r quite effective if u knew how to apply them to ur style. The shield/cover that mma fighters use is a ching chong martial art technique. The crab shell defense 2 a simple shoulder roll did not come from European style of defense. All the great stand up fighter from boxing to M.M.A. took from wing chung and karate. trapping punches to footwork.
DisBoiRytehere 3 months ago
I've studied the art for a number of years and I aspire to reach anything that even resembles what Sifu Wong just demonstrated. Most impressive, thanks for the pos
