  • OMG do I remember? I started playing UO in 1998. We all quite when Trammel came out. Totally ruined the game. I still think about this game and how immersed I felt playing it. Nothing like it since. I really wish they would do a 3D version of Old School UO without Trammel. I'd like to see the same continent and towns too. That would be the biggest game MMO in the world if they did that.

  • if you love Original UO check out Inporylem. com

  • Loved the original UO.

    Thief - Edge (tormented minoc)

  • Good times. miss Ultima Sometimes. Old Great Lakes / Legends players here.

    Bank Sitter: Gary Coleman

    PVPer: Kossuth

  • @Kriegfreak I think you tried to steal something from me in Bucs Den like 7 years ago....lol!

  • Very good vid, kinda hate it though reminds me what we will never have again. A game made for adults, with risk, friends and everyhting that made that game great.

  • I'm another Great Lakes player from '97-2002...Fistandantilus/Vasingul. Google "Vasingul KR" and see if check the old website....see if you remember any of the characters there! Peace!

  • I remember and I feel a little melancholy , pre T2A in my gaming heart 4ever

  • Hey brother. Thanks for this video. I loved this game in the old days. I remember waiting for the moongates. I remember the wonder and the immersion and the sense of community before all the expansions. T2A was ok but after that, it fell to crap. I recently went back to check out UO and it DOES NOT COMPARE. It doesn't have the same magic anymore.

Pacific shard, Rangers of Virtue, Ezekial Stormbow

4ever rest in peace and happy memories

  • Oh man. I remember walking up to my locker in grade nine and saying 'bank'. I used to wake up at 4am to play over dialup. It was laggy and I died so many times due to connection issues, but I loved it. Good times.

  • I played shortly after T2A was released... It was simply epic. It's now 2011, and not a single game out now can compare to the fun, the sense of immersion, and the sheer number of things you can do in a single game. The community was so strong and it was just a blast to log on everyday to play. Here's to hoping they will make another UO game similar to the old style. Lord Hector, Napa Valley, Clan Marrach Faol.

  • I played from 1998-2002 and I fucking remember that damn moongate.........

  • I played from 1998-2002

  • I just found my old UO games, and couldnt remember the game play O_O and, I played from 2000 to 2005 and I remember loving the game so much! but I went to wow and couldnt afford both subscriptions >_<... now I'm playing Rift... but STILL I want to find a game that looks as good as the moddern crap but with the game play of UO, everything I've played since is just a very pail (but pretty looking) in comparison.. Old UO for the win! (But the 3D content was terrible and is why I left in the end :P

  • I played UO from the start, and all of the old school Ultimas, as well. Remains, to this day, my favorite game series EVER! I loved the emphasis on skills over common RPG level grinding.

Ultima V ~ Warriors of Destiny was soooo ahead of its time, with its day/night cycles, player/NPC interaction and questioning system, runic language, huge world, etc... All packed on a handful of horribly slow old floppies. U7 was also beyond awesome.

  • By the way, what a marvelous music..

  • Its unbelievable how the things can turn into shit with a simple change of leadership.

Please Richard Garriot, come back, and take your place again!!!!!!!

  • I still get heart-sick and yearn for the old days, IE Feb. 1998 to 2001'ish. Had the best time of my gaming life in UO, online or console, and made the best friends I've ever had there too. Really miss UO and my old friends.

  • I just love how versatile this game was. No body could hide in trammel, everybody even PKs were vulnerable. Reputation actually meant something. I could help a thief friend defending from his attackers at the Xroad. I could be mining iron ore around the mountain near trinsic or baking cookies or grind potions in the comfort of my forge watching strangers running around the forest. Or we could walk around and admire how others decorate their homes. How can any game compete with this??

  • Played on Laglantic and Napa for a time started in Beta and ended in some time after ea sold us all out

  • Good old times...

Guys plz play Mortal Online to support the new "felucca"

  • Check my my UO movies, I made them for several years showing how the game was in the old days until now...

  • RedSand - GREAT LAKES - Sorry About That.

  • HAIL!

  • I played for 7 years on Pacific no other game out there can compare.

  • @crbuke

I also played on the pacific sever for 7 or 8 years the best game ever made, I miss it to this day.

  • damn use to play in 99 till 2007 on catskills do play on free server uolegends best server ...

  • Missed the whole uo thing didnt have the interent back then, but watching this nearly brings a tear to my eye haha, they need to study this game out and find out exactly what made it so great, could be that it was just the first real mmorg of its kind, the father of all mmorgs.

  • This video made me lose heart and want to quit the present day game. It's lost its soul in the replacement of good playing for pixel toys. The brilliance of the earlier game is gone forever, as are a lot of the original players. Cheers, mates! And Happy 2011 in ten minutes.

  • i remember, my friend.

  • Yeah I remember! I stopped playing because of the stupid shit they did to screw up the game. All the stupid super uber weapons and armor. I like the new houses though but thats where it ends. If someone dies I should be able to jack their shit. Period. I had a PK and a PVM character and two mules. What good fun that was. Oh remember the stealing skill?? Man being part of the trinsic borrowers was great fun. Ahhh man I guess I will go DL the client and use the free 14 day trial and quit again!

  • *cries* I remember what UO used to be =;{ in fact I rmember old haven like it was new and soo full of vibrant players sellign wares and battleing monsters together....so you remember old haven?.......but now I know the truth its too much to bear *cries and weeps for Haven of old*

  • heart warming.... *applouds*

  • come and play with us at uosecondage(dot)com

  • this game used to be the shit when it came out, played it for about 5 years after its release and once they started updating to add new material it completely changed the game play.

  • i used to play but couldn't afford it after i moved out is there some sort of free server out there to use?

  • @MrMiksters Download a program called UO Razor. Using this you can connect to three different free shards. One is Pre-T2A, I forget what the other one is, and the third, Demise, is a server with content all the way up to Samurai Empire so far.

  • @leojsivad

You can connect to way more than three, dude.

  • @MrMiksters hey if your still interested. theres hundreds of free shards on a program called ConnectUO. :)

    Hail Pandora! :P

  • I don't care what anyone says...There will NEVER be a game like Ultima Online ever again. It was the best of its kind and quite possibly the greatest video game ever created.

  • I was Dartanian on Pacific shard back during The Second Age. I left shortly after Age of Shadows came out. Great memories especially during the war of Trinsic. I remember!

  • If anyone is a Roleplayer. Teiravon is a free UO shard with AMAZING players. Great RP.

  • 6 Years on Chessy from launch. Good memories

  • @razorback0z Chessy player here, you remember KoC woooooo

  • I remember!

  • I remember!

  • Britannia! All Hail Lelouch

LOL sorry just had to say it

  • i started playing uo in early 99. i remember uo before trammel and how great the game was. it can never be brought back, nor can any game replicate the magic that game had. it really is only a memory for those of us who remember. i also play uosecondage and I can vouch that it is the best ultima server i have played since quit official servers in early 2003. accurate to '99 and a real sense of community.

  • I totaly agree it was better with only one world we got away with a lot of great things, ie planting stuff in a dead body so a newbe would take it, get killed by the guards and loot him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!very fun

  • almost.. brought... tears... lol

  • The True UO was when Great Lords were true Great Lords and Dread Lords were the True Evil PKs.

  • UO ANGEL ISLAND. pre uo.r. tamke.net / 2593 game-master(dot)net

  • Yeah i remember, i started near the release of UO, i played LS server hardcore and my account is still active, nearly 12 years.

My cahracters were named Ultima Online, Xaiver, XXX, and a few others, i mainly hung out in Minoc, and would love to meet some old friends Jason, Drudge, Wolf, Door, and others.

  • Gawd, I remember the old days.. I was on the Great Lakes Server, "Lady Kittie" with the pink hair. heh. I remember people like "Ultima" and "Sien"... I ended up stopping playing after I maxed all skills at the time (even with the + scrolls), got my castle and rares.. it just wasn't "fun" anymore. It was all about status. :( .. I miss playing though.. good times.. good times.

  • Ultima Online - the only game I have been playing to this day. For 9 whole years I've loved this game and I still play. I'll just never stop.

  • By the way...for those of the old days. I am Crom from Great Lakes, use to be in the Corelone Family (way back 97-98), The RGB (Royal Guardians of Brittania, west of the Brit East Swamp, 98) and Palidins of Pain (Peninsula east of Brit, 98-99), then formed the family guild we still have FoV. Loved the Covy Shutdown Battles :-)

  • @BruceJAX

I played on GL as well. Good times.

  • @BruceJAX

Man, good times. Funny, I also played on GL and I was also in the RGB during that time period! I went by the name Turalyon. I got booted out when I accidentally killed our leader during a practice, wasn't his name Martel...or something like that, I'm not sure. Feels like a lifetime ago. Man, good times.

  • I still play UO ans I started the first day it hit the shelves back in 97. I still love it. Never been into PvP, have allways been the role player and dungeon crawler (not to say I have not done and learned it). I still think it was the best gaming creation ever. I also still play PlanetSide. It is such a different game that I also Love.

  • Great times! I really enjoyed this! I remember my house... I was lucky to have the villa in the Wind Mountains... Windhaven, I will never forget you.

  • is there a server without item insurance?

  • I miss old UO ;[

  • missed the T2A times...

  • Uogamers: Hybrid - free server

  • I am also a player on UO: Second Age. There is more like 800 players online at peak times now. This is a great shard.

    uosecondage . com

  • The New Pre-T2A: 97-98 UO with innovative events. The direction the expansions should have gone, retaining the basics: Notoriety System, Old Housing System, Combat, 1 account. Come relive the original experience of Ultima Online: UOGenesis(dot)com

  • Pure nostalgia - i remember getting my first house - a 3 story tower... kindly donated to me by a guy leaving the server.... wow :)

  • Pacific 99' NINJA HOMER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I played on Napa Valley on Dec 99 - good memories and I agree with you leojsivad... the game was full of friends, enemies and especially community... No one has developed a similar game with town attacks, loot, etc... I MISS THE OLD UO!!!

  • PRE-AOS RLZ

  • I miss old UO. I started during Renaissance. Age of Shadows killed UO. I''ve played WOW for a while and old UO beats it hands down.

  • I miss old UO. I came in during Renaissance. Age of Shadows killed UO. I've played WOW for a long time and old UO beats it.

  • I play Neverlands

  • I was a member from 98 - 04... truly a great game. recently i emailed and got my Old password.. low and behold, MY ACCOUNT still exists! although i must admit i'm a little scared to log onto it.. my character "Friar" is probably so out dated.. I know i have about 10M in gold and some old rare things.. anybody have any suggestions???

  • my first mmo that was crazy

    so much good memory

  • Dear UO players, what are you playing NOW?

  • Uo-Demise, a free server

Also waiting for Mortal Online to come out.

  • @leojsivad can you give me a link to your shard? i'd love to play with like-minded fellows again!

  • @h445

Well, I use a program called Razor to connect to a few shards. My friends all play on Demise, which is a OSI clone server. They are up to SE currently.

The other one is called Hybrid, which is a T2A shard, reminiscent of the "old days".

  • @leojsivad

Hybrid sucks man really if you want a good UO shard check out uokgames.com Hybrids ran by Run UO an it sucks balls!!!!

  • @cizmelikedi UO Divinity, a T2A free server.

Also waiting for Mortal Online to come out.

  • Play on the free server called Second Age...its got about 400-600 players and is era accurate to the second age expansion. Pre Renaissance

  • I might give it a try

  • Comment removed

  • Yay!

  • I remember it :'(

  • Richard Gariott's expansions were the best (UO1 , T2A..) and he didn't like EA's ideas in 2000s , and he decided to leave ultima online community.. And we have seen the ideas of EA.. It was tryin to bring trammel , fucking noob pvm ideas.. We miss u richard gariott

  • UO for me provided an outstanding community experience unlike the other mmo's like wow, daoc, ect...

However Darkfall has the same feeling as old UO. It had a rough start but is now going good =)

  • i still play uo and i dont think its too bad i am a uo vet for 7 years and i still play and i think its still good i still have a bunch of friends from 7 years ago but alot of them died over those years :[ RIP my friends

  • Mondain expansion killed UO.

T2A Helped.. A little, TRAM and FEL was the final part though. No such thing as BOD, No such thing as Blessed, PVP? Everywhere. That is WoW. not what we have now.

  • yes i do agree the reptalons did mess it up but after that was we got awesome greater dragons till they finally nerfed them a while ago then they came out with SA that changed all of that.

  • one of teh best games ever i played online i miss the good old pvp evrywere :D

  • I did not expect a response and thank you for taking the time. I will try this way and see what is what. Damn I'm not against PVP, just they can really mess up a good day. Well, 8 years ago is the last I remember. Thanks again.

  • I play on a shard called Uo Demise. It's pretty neat, and it has a good community.

  • Thanks for the response : )! Now for a dumb question. How do you get to the free shard? I'm tryin but no luck so far.

  • Download ConnectUO and connect to UOGamers: Hybrid. 900+ players at any given time, but its open PVP, not in "special zones". Dunno what Mastachiefs is thinking of.

  • wow ya just play it.... never thought of that?! is it any good? will i be murdered right away? where to play (shard)? is it worth just mining and killing dragons and not pvp? i hate pvp.

  • undulateor,

Play UOGamers:hybrid with over 1000 players a day online with growing community.(Only PVP in special zones)

Play UO-Second Age free shard as well with around 500 players a day with a growing and kind community.(Not sure of the PVP deal due to the fact I havent been playing this shard for a while)

  • How about every one shut the hell up about *i miss the good ol' days* and stupid stuff like that...

I dont know if you hard heads know this but UO is still online and going strong...fcking really*boo hoo i miss the memories* eh?

    THEN JUST PLAY IT!

  • Just play it is not a viable option.

The core of what the game used to be about has changed from a community based game, to an item game.

Just out of curiosity, when did you start playing UO?

  • I started a year ago,and Befor you go all in your face words I would looooove to elt you know that, there is a second age free shard out known as Second Age...And there is also one known as UOGamers:Hybrid which has over 1000 players online every day!How is that for community mate?

  • I don't understand why Ultima Online's legacy never took on to any other MMORPG. All we see now is PVP RPG games masked as MMORPG with no true depths. I've heard of Darkfall one of few new MMORPG games that follows the same path as UO did, but will it truly? One can only hope when the game has improved itself alittle. So many years since UO was released and it's still more free and unique than any other game, makes you think doesn't it?

  • darkfall is pretty much nothing like uo. its a completely pvp focused game (pretty much nothing in terms of community) while uo was more a community focused game.

  • I Have heard that to, but as they talk alot about UO being an inspiration I believe the PVP is only a way to attract people abit and when the game is established It might get to that Community feel. I hope so anyway cause I wanna play a game with atleast alittle more community feel PLUS freedom at the same time

  • God I miss UO.. Still have like flash backs of that game, best game ever made. I don't think I'll ever find another game like it.

  • When someone said to me "UO? brrrr, it's full of PK", I answered "PK?Cool, let's attack him"

Corp Por Corp Por Corp Por Corp Por

Ah ah, it was the good old time...

Newbies selfish just killed Ultima Online.

    Chani from Europa shard.

  • Fear not my friends. Broken Earth. an mmo that me and my friends are writing this VERY moment. Shalt bring back the love, the wars, the battles and the magic...of Ultima Online.

Where there is no risk, there is no heart.

    Down with wow.

  • what song is that?

  • UO second age is another free shard that is all about the old school era....before it went downhill.,.tons of people great community...down with WOW

  • I started in '98 and played a few years. I got banned once and quit a few times aswell.

UO is the only game that gives me goose-bumps when thinking about it....

  • Mst

    98-04

    Forever remember

Shard: Mystic Second Age, The Army, EG Shard

  • second age is a free shard that recreates the old era fairly well. it is also decently populated, usually about 400 online at all times. i used to play UO between 98-00 and second age was a pleasure to find. not trying to spam or anything, but i thought other UO veterans might be interested in checking it out.

  • The magic is still happening on ColdFire UO a free UO shard.

Look at my YouTube channel for some recent videos of the PvP scene on ColdFIre.

    Google ColdFire UO

  • oh and i remember playing on great lakes and we had a house right next to the Urks. we had clan battles almost everyday. i still even remember some of their language...

  • i remember the old days. played from 98-03. good times. i miss it alot

  • What is the Lazarus soundtrack?

  • AoS killed UO

  • Ulitma Online was the most EPIC game i 've ever played. to keep users for years, is unthinkable. it wasnt carebearish or noobish. WoW ruined all mmo's, UO FOREVER! ill never forget that amazing game, EVER.

  • Muy buen video, casi lloro de la emocion :'_(

  • I want the old UO back. I played from 98-03. I watched as UO was destroyed. I missed the day when everyone had to train and keep an eye out for PKs. I missed pvp that was based on skills and simple weapons. It is now items based and full of care bears. I loved factions, but care bear land sucked. I had one of the highest faction kill counts on atlantic back in the day. My name was YenCanDo, any on here know me?

  • Did you go by any other name? Played Factions in Atlantic basically since it opened till I quit in 02.

  • Nope, YenCanDo was the one. My partner in crime was YangCanToo. I believe at the top of my kills I was with a faction guild known as KrW. I was maintaining over 150-250 points without a kill bank character. Once those stupid ass scroll things came out, I stopped factions pretty much. My guild made a PK unit for the scroll noobs in the dungeons. So we started hunting care bears instead of faction wars. What was your faction characters name? I was a 6x mage. 95 resist spells.

  • Yeah those two names are really familiar; I don't remember running into you guys much though. I'm guessing you really didn't do all that Guarding Bases stuff; lol I think I wasted most of my time with that. Sohei was my chr name; mostly hung out with F!U Lickable, Satin, ect. lol I know most people hated them but they were funny.

  • Do you guys remember farmers and tailors?

  • I don't think another game will ever top UO for me. My first MMO and the most in depth gaming experience of my life. I was disillusioned when UO:Renaissance (and trammel) came out. I quit within a year after it. Watching as one by one my friends slipped away. Bitter, logging on only to play factions, Order/Chaos, pre-downtime fights at Britain GY, and quit when I had that "i'm alone" feeling. Leaving a castle, tower, 3 smalls to IDOC with all my UO possessions within.

    Keep the memories friends.

  • Ultima Online will always be, in my heart, the pinnacle of Role-Playing games.

The MMO scene is truly defined by the non-linear, sandbox format, and no MMORPG to date can accomplish the freedom and interactivity UO provided. I do not want to be constrained and restricted to what the world wants of me. I want a game where I can herd sheep, tame dragons, hunt for treasure, defeat murderous opponents, fish for sea serpents, and bake bread with flour I ground at the mill, from wheat I picked.

  • I agree. What got me so involved with UO was the wide array of possibilities before you. Want to be a murderer? A bounty hunter? A fisherman who begs on the streets? Uo had it for you.

  • UO is still the best. I quit playing Origin's UO when they started complicating everything. Now I play at ColdfireUO. Its a free Sphere UO shard. Tons of crafting, hunting, & PvP. Good player base. If you liked old UO, you would love this shard. Check out my vids by clicking on my name. All of them were recorded in April/May of this year.

  • hopefully, Mortal Online will carry UO's torch.

  • EPIC VIDEO

I quit when they made a mirror bunny land.

Old UO is still better than any game I ever played.

  • Anyone who loves UO needs to Google Coldfire UO and come join us. Right now the playerbase is 130+, awesome server, awesome scripts. Come get owned.

  • awsome...i feel bad watching this too...

    i was a veteran player from 1999 til 2006

  • i feel bad after watching this. i doubt it can ever be this way again. there is no more sense of community now. i quit uo about 10 years ago because of all the idiot psycopaths that travel in groups of 10 and destroy everything with a lifebar. they are insane. they ruined this game and its the same idiots you see talking about absolutely nothing on wow and war

  • Thanks for making this :)

-The Knight God of Sonoma (1999-2001)

  • Wow, thanks for sharing this. If only we could recapture that time...

    --Lord Zeromus (VDS) of Sonoma

    1999-2004

  • DO I REMEMBER ? OH YES I DO !

man I swear if I ever become millionnair or just cash overloaded I will put on the table a shitload of cash to buy the 1998/1999 versions of UO and the copyright and all and recommercialize it with 5$ monthly fee to substain the connection rent. and I'd never fucking add any single thing to the freaking game. and man I bet I'd get even richer doing that.

  • I just hope such files like the 98/99 versions and every necessary stuff to host such a thing still exist , otherwise I want the head of the person who thrown it away!

  • I remember. But lol @ the bit where you show off a Valorite runic as though it was a beautiful thing. Runics, especially in factions, were seriously wank at the time :p

  • Aye, I agree, although the pic I took made me drool cause it was a Vanq Katana, probably one of the best weapons in the game for a fighter at that period.

  • You pulled a pic from late UO:R at best..probably even deeper.

A runic weapon certainly didn't fit this video, especially at the price! Should have a pulled a T2A weapon.

  • I remember! I Remember! take me back to those days! Days without WoW, days without colourful weapons! Where a Sword of Vanquishing was all you needed, and Demonbone armour dropped on deamons all the live long day!

  • The pureness of this game will always have a place in my heart. I have hopes that one day someone else will design a game similar to UO in nature with modern graphics, but that's a pipe dream. Darkfall remains the only possible release soon, and my hopes are high for it.

That said, UO when it first came out will perhaps always be the most meaningful gaming experience I've ever had.

  • fucking EA had to take over and ruin the game totally.

fucking pieces of shit. hope they all die.

  • I have to say, I enjoyed the housing customization of AOS, but everything else from that expansion screwed everything up.

  • I started playing when AOS first came out and since they had expansion packs it sucks ass now.. But I still play it but its not the same really.. I miss true old pvp and the epic gear that was worth playing back then now its just eh whatever..

  • I do remember.

    I played from 98 till 2001

I have never found a game that was more exciting and more fun ever, and I prolly never will. I feel so lucky to have experienced this game and I hope those who havent will get a chance to see this game like myself and the other lucky ones have.

Goodbye UO. We will miss you.

  • amazing video... mortal online might be an answer if darkfall is not

  • crafted magic weapons? sorry noob you dont know shit about the old days of UO

  • Don't make me bust out the 1337n335

  • This MMO not just father for all MMO's, but more like GOD comparing to all modern MMO's. I so hoping that someday game industry will realese somting that will be worthy to be compered with UO.

  • If you want a game that's like the old UO look into a game coming out called Darkfall..

  • mortal online. will be more like uo

  • LEts just pray that Darkfall will be the game to bring back the good pvp style games.

  • Absolutely right! This used to be the GREATEST game of all times! And even in its present state it wipes the floor with all these World of Warcraft-Shit! Garriot said not long ago, that he doesnt understand why no single game has followed the path of UO.

  • then garriot should bring this shit back. I'm talking pre uor . casting with weaps in hands , all that good shit. pking dungeon crawling. OSI dry fucked this game.

  • Wonderful Video... it really brings me back to those days man, I played Uo since beta and there has not been a game to match it since, over 10 years later.

It has been my hope that Darkfall will be the game that does so.

Brings a tear to my eye, this video.

  • UO sucked ass compared to the single player series

  • They were completely different games...

  • dang me and my brother have been lisening to ultima online music for the last 3 days n we realize how much we miss the old times n the fun we had. sounds lame but feels real.

  • I know what you mean. It's one of those things that I did when I was younger and didn't have the responsibilities I have now. I miss pulling all nighters with my UO guild pk'ing or dungeon raiding.

    Good times hehe...

  • i miss this game so much....... no other mmo can even touch it.

  • i encourage all old UO fans to check out Mortal Online. it's a sandbox being made with unreal engine 3 and the CEO is a hardcore UO vet. :)

  • I'll have to look into that, seems promising.
