I love the Stylus Pro. It's part of what my wife calls my Bat-Belt. I have a Galco "Belly Band" that I wear daily loaded w/ a Kel-Tec 3AT w/ extra mag, Kershaw Skyline knife, and my Streamlight Stylus Pro. All completely hidden from view and none are the wiser, but easy access when needed.
Awesome Nutn, I finally purchase the Stylus Pro. I got the Blue one and it is the newer C4 version. I wasn't too sure how it would be since I opened it at work in the light. It looked okay. Then a little while ago I tried it out in the dark. Man it is pretty bright. This is my first foray into quality lights and I couldn't be happier, and all for only $24. I can only imaging what a Quark 123² Tactical at 230 lumens will be. You suck dude. Now I am gonna go broke buying flashlights ;-)
Do you know if they updated this light since you did this review? I purchased a Stylus Pro online a few weeks ago and the specs said that the brightness was 48 lumens on the packaging versus the 24 lumens of the previous model. In any light (pun intended), I am ecstatic about this flashlight as well.
@Keegster1120 it has been updated with a c4 bulb that gives the new version 48 lumens vs 24 for the old model.the packaging will tell you the one you have.i love mine.
I have 3 of these and 2 of the shorter ones that take 1 battery. I absolutely love them! I am a USMC veteran, and I have one of these everywhere I might need a light.
I have been carrying one of these daily for well over a year (black but just switched to a blue one, its easier to see if I drop it) and it’s a great light. Everyone in my family/friends that sees it wants one. . .so I have been buying these up to give as bday/house warming gifts. I personally own 2 (for now), one for me and one for my car. =) I think have bought around 10 of these so far and in every color and they all look great!
I got one of these today due to nutnfancy's review. I was set on it for a while but I didn't get a chance to grab one until now. It's everything he said it would be and I already knew the ins and outs of the Stylus Pro as soon as I got it. Thanks once again for a great job!
Just picked one of these up from YCS. Looks like they've changed the pocket clip, now solid, no place to attach the lanyard you so wisely recommend. Other than that I'm quite pleased with the purchase. I'll just have to mod the clip to allow for that lanyard, simple enough, but I wish they'd have left it alone.
i have always been into shurefire lights. i have the e2d defender and the a72s combatlight. i love both of these lights, but those fenixes are so much cheaper and have much better value. i need to start trying some of those. i also love streamlights too.
@noblinger sit down and take a few even breaths ... it hasn't been 100+ vids, geez exagerate much. and you are now the spokes person for everyone. nice to make your aquaintance.
I just now realised that my Stylus Pro's clip is a solid type, and not the "hollowed" out type belt clip like the one you reviewed. So no way to attach a lanyard on my stylus pro, just my data point.
One thing I like about this light is that it is a good combination of light quality, durability, price and length. I add length because this is a great self-defense tool as well when one knows how to use it this way. I actually wish it were a half inch to an inch longer, but it can still do the trick. I can't justify moving to the longer Stylus, so this Pro is a great choice. Great video, as usual! Thanks!
Nutnfancy, could you do just QUICK review and your thoughts on just a simple "military style" anglehead flashlight (C or D cell) They are very cheap, so affordable and could be pretty convenient at times.

Hey Nutn, I think you should look into the Streamlight Microstream. IMO it is the perfect EDC flashlight for the money and simplicity. It uses one AAA battery and gives out a regulated 20 lumens for 1.5 hours. It is the baby brother of the stylus Pro. And only weighs one ounce. but about 2" shorter than the stylus pro.
Just picked one up. It has a more sturdy clip now, but that means there's no easy place to tie on a lanyard because it is a solid clip. I paid $25 for it... probably should have ordered one online for less... oh well.
While at the gun show today I picked up a stylus pro on an impulse buy because it's so favorably reviewed but when I got it home and opened the package to play with it I found it won't turn on. I tried 3 different sets of batteries that I know are all good and no light. Now I can try to drive all the (long) way back to the show tomorrow and hope the vender remembers me (she didn't give me a receipt) or try to take it up with streamlight and pay shipping. I'm extremely bummed :(
@friskyrabbit Oh bummer! I heard of a couple of cases of this happening. If your show vendor won't make good, I believe Streamlight will, at least. Let us know. I fee certain you'll like it once you get it going, I love mine. -- Veri
@nutnfancy Hey, actually I did go back to the gun show the next day and they were SUPER cool and let me go back the vender without paying the entrance fee and the vender totally remembered me and totally swapped it out for another that does work! I do love it now! I work on copiers so it is an excellent light to carry to work for what I do. Thanks!
Best flashlight I have ever tried - love this new LED technology.
At first I thought 24 lumens sounded mediocre. There are other ones which can go 60, 80, 120, 180, even 220 lumens. However, 24 lumens is PLENTY for what most people would need this for.
It is a light that I would definatly take on duty with me and keep in a pen pocket and use it for small tasks or as a back up if you need to. As for using it as your primary duty light, it just isnt bright enough I would just use this as a secondary.
Thanks to your review I picked up a Streamight Stylus Pro a while back, and I am happy to report I carry it with me daily. It is a great little light, and comes in handy almost as much as my pocket knife. Love the light, and would recommend to anyone.
As far as I can see there is only one downfall to it, after showing my Dad, I now have to buy one for him!!!! At $16 I am happy to do so though.
After using a friend's Stylus and being amazed with it I did a lot of research and found the MARATAC AAA Flashlight for a bit more money. It uses ONE AAA battery and for the life of me I can't find anything better that is even near the size. If you look on youtube another member has a side by side size and beam comparison. I think the streamlight still holds a place and will get one for my toolbox but use the maratac on my keychain for EDC.
I absolutely love my Stylus Pro that I purchased based on this review. It is so light that you don't notice it's there. It and its 1 AAA counterpart (shorter/lighter) are possibly the first lights I don't want to go anywhere without. ... And that's coming from a Fenix LD20 owner. (Love that one too)
I bought the Stylis Pro in Nov.,08. I carry it every day, use it at work, and I've only replaced the batteries once. I would recommend this light to anyone.
I just bought the Stylus Pro for an edc carry light and it exceeded my expectations. Very bright, very small package. If your outside on a dark night, this think will light some stuff up at 50+ yards pretty nicely.
I find the stylus pro button is difficult to click on and off by thumb. I think its due to the buttons thick rubber side walls, raised metal rim, and possibly recessed mechanism. Since Nutfancy didnt comment on this I'm thinking maybe mines faulty.
Great review after watching this vid I bought to one in black and on in camo. I use them both daily as an oversees operator. I have beat the daylight out of it and it just keeps going. As a matter of fact my team and I have bought most of our gear after watching your reviews. Thanks and keep up the good work
I had one of those first generation penlights, and the plastic cap is good for not shorting out a computer motherboard, if you happen to accidentally touch it while it's powered. Anything inside a computer, is easy to short out if the aluminum casing of the light accidentally touches.
I recently bought a 3 AAA led light from Coleman's "MAX" line of flashlights, and I reccomend it to those who might want a cheaper alrternative to something like the Fenix lights. It cost me about 25 bucks at Wal*Mart. Its beam is maybe not quite as clean as the Fenix beam, but it uses Cree LEDs and claims 115 lumens and 6 hours illumination. It isn't regulated, though, so expect some variation in intensity.
I would have made a vid, but I don't have a camera, so thanks for the ad space, Nutn!
Dear nutnfancy, could I give you some constructive criticism. It seems you spend a lot of time with other objects in your reviews other then the object you are reviewing. Which makes for a video that is probably twice as long as it needs to be. I watch your videos and I like that they are about things I enjoy I just think you could get us the same information in ten minutes rather then twenty. Keep up with the reviews.
I have to disagree. For specifications you can always read the manual or watch the official site page or go to candlepowerforums or other official sources, as he recommends. That would be fast and save your time, i do it myself when on a hurry, but TNP is about spreading the word.
Since he is talking only about related issues, i greet that. For newbies hearing those empirical wisdoms and "philosophy" helps a lot.
I understand what you're saying but I think that if nutnfancy did a critical review of his own videos he would see what I'm referring to.
I know what you do must take up a good amount of your time and I appreciate that and I wouldn't want you to stop. That's all you'll hear from me about that.
the black light seems to be unnecessarily long, and the tan one to wide. the pro should have a retention area for matches or something, to long for m.
Yup I looked at the fenixonline shop and im GUESSING that since that website says its discontinued im gonna assume thats true... It might not be true but im asking if im wrong someone correct me. Since I saw on the line up that the P3D model was the light with the 2nd most bright options in the lineup. And at a VERY lowered cost than the light with the 1st brightest options.
i like inova i have a t2 3.8 watt and i fukin love it when inova first got on the scene i bought their first model and it rulz hasen't breaked yet and still is bright, also 2 cr123 last all year long with reg. usage can't ask for more.
yeah.. i just got a britelight torchlight ... 3 of em thinking they're the greatest flashlights.. but after watching this... i think my britelights are all crap..
Hey Nutnfancy, As a duty light I trust my EagleTac P10C2 ($56 !). It has 295 lumens on high for 1.2 hrs, and 60 lumens for 10 full hrs on low mode. It's incredibly compact, durable, and very simple to operate. I highly recommend that you, and everyone watching check it out. Thanks for the video's and stay safe!
on the fenix p2d premium running on cr123A batteries I see max 180 lumens, compared to 145 max on a nitecore using the same bateries AND it is 8 mm shorter.
I hear great things about nitecore lights though and think it's very cool technology that they're using. Most seem to prefer it to the L1D
Anyways, great vid man.
a small simple flashlight that you will always have is very underrated. (I think)
You should try the Nitecore D10. Makes a really good EDC torch. Even has a memory setting. Pretty much everything you were refering to that you would wish to see in the fenix's. Also pretty humble on the price tag. Around $50 and even brighter, with more features and smaller then the Fenix versions.
I'm buying one! I've seen you talk about these before and I was sold then! i want to streamline my EDC System to be more compact and like I said I'm going for the Streamlight Stylus pro and a LM Juice S2! Your reviews sold me on them and your ROL EDC system video made me really rethink by bulky LM Charge ALX and Streamlight Scorpion LED. Just to bulky! Great Video, 100% rating and I'm adding it to my favs!
Dude, good review, I think you sold me on this light. In reference to your Sabre Light, you stated that it broke. I bought mine about 22 years ago and it carries a lifetime warranty that covers everything except bear attack, shark attack, and children under the age of three. Do you know if this warranty has changed? Those three year olds can be pretty scary. No response necessary. Stay safe.
I purchased a stylus pro a few weeks ago and absolutely love it! It is perfect to carry in my pocket and not feel too bulky. Excellent video as always! Keep up the Great work! Looks like Bugget is going to have a ton of work answering all of your messages.. lol. Stay safe guys!
put a stylus pro into my rotation and I'm loving it. Thanks Nutnfancy

I should also add that the new version does not have the same clip. It is more of a solid piece. It also comes with a spare tailcap boot.

Keep up with the reviews.
mva1985 3 years ago
I have to disagree. For specifications you can always read the manual or watch the official site page or go to candlepowerforums or other official sources, as he recommends. That would be fast and save your time, i do it myself when on a hurry, but TNP is about spreading the word.
Since he is talking only about related issues, i greet that. For newbies hearing those empirical wisdoms and "philosophy" helps a lot.
adepsa 3 years ago
I understand what you're saying but I think that if nutnfancy did a critical review of his own videos he would see what I'm referring to.
I know what you do must take up a good amount of your time and I appreciate that and I wouldn't want you to stop. That's all you'll hear from me about that.
Just my two cents.

the black light seems to be unnecessarily long, and the tan one to wide. the pro should have a retention area for matches or something, to long for m.

Another great one.
Like a few others might have said, check out the Streamlight Microstream. It's a 3.5" single AAA Stylus Pro. It's my EDC light.

They discontinued the Fenix P3D :(
crownroyal111 3 years ago
really !?!?!?!?!?
meowned 3 years ago
Yup I looked at the fenixonline shop and im GUESSING that since that website says its discontinued im gonna assume thats true... It might not be true but im asking if im wrong someone correct me. Since I saw on the line up that the P3D model was the light with the 2nd most bright options in the lineup. And at a VERY lowered cost than the light with the 1st brightest options.

I need a new light myself.
I just have a really bright Coleman that I got for $20. CR2 batteries, lasts about 2 hours.
animematt 3 years ago
yeah.. i just got a britelight torchlight ... 3 of em thinking they're the greatest flashlights.. but after watching this... i think my britelights are all crap..
NeoQuello 3 years ago
Well, it is all about what works for you.
The Coleman tactlight works for me. It is bright, and easy to use.
I dont use it for "everyday use" it is more of a defense/offense light. I have a little LED one for general utility use.

Thanks for the video's and stay safe!

clap5, where are you getting your info from.
on the fenix p2d premium running on cr123A batteries I see max 180 lumens, compared to 145 max on a nitecore using the same bateries AND it is 8 mm shorter.
I hear great things about nitecore lights though and think it's very cool technology that they're using. Most seem to prefer it to the L1D
Anyways, great vid man.
a small simple flashlight that you will always have is very underrated. (I think)

EDCNUT 3 years ago
You should try the Nitecore D10. Makes a really good EDC torch. Even has a memory setting. Pretty much everything you were refering to that you would wish to see in the fenix's. Also pretty humble on the price tag. Around $50 and even brighter, with more features and smaller then the Fenix versions.

you the best !
i think the fenix e01 is also very good idea
its small good output like the streamlight
and cheap :)

I have the new Stylus in UV that I use to check drivers licenses and id cards when I stop smoeone.
Ive gotten a few tickets/arrests because of falsifiyed doccuments. :)

What does POU stand for?
rooftopeagle 3 years ago
Dude, good review, I think you sold me on this light. In reference to your Sabre Light, you stated that it broke. I bought mine about 22 years ago and it carries a lifetime warranty that covers everything except bear attack, shark attack, and children under the age of three. Do you know if this warranty has changed? Those three year olds can be pretty scary. No response necessary. Stay safe.
