Thanks again for this. We went to Provinssirock for The Stone Roses, but it was a great festival otherwise as well. Ian didn't seem happy with the crowd at all, but I am so glad I had the chance to see them. Plus, re-reading my diary from this concert, it is so obvious I had such a teenage crush on Ian.

Wren's b.v's alone are brilliant, wish they'd turned em up in the mix on record. Cheers for posting! To think this was the classic line-up's second-last gig lends it an extra poignancy...How typically and brilliantly-barmy of the Roses that they wouldn't go to America (at the time) but would go to Finland!

I've heard them play this at Spike Island and Glasgow Green - and it seems they always ended like that. The b-side of this song 'somethings burning' is way better live.

You cant blame Squire for leaving, Reni had gone, and they were a shambles without him, it must have been horrible to hear all these great songs sounding so slow and lifeless. And just listen to the last Roses gigs from 95(Wembley etc) Brown was so appalingly bad no-one could blame John for walking, it must have been embarising being on stage with him.

First time I've heard that reason for leaving. I don't think anyone can know exactly what went on, there are many sides to the story, I think. The fact is they clearly weren't getting on and nobody can blame John for leaving if he wanted to leave. As much as I miss them..

i wasn't saying john wasn't the "brains" but he messed it up, he broke the band. And if you look at Ian Brown's music now you can see what he brought to the stone roses - soul. Second Coming was a good record but it was a John Squire record - lack of soul.
