  • @azfender1 Thanks for taking the time to comment - did you spot the 3 other guitar versions of the tune?

  • Great stuff lads. Lovely unfussy version and balance in the two instruments. Now to work it out on my B/C box so I can play along. .

  • Thanks for the encouragement Martin. I shall watch your Donegal fiddle videos carefully.

  • Thanks Martin. Nice to link up with your great site from OZ

  • Love this duet. Excellent performance.

  • Good to hear from you again - thanks for the ccmment.

  • Great job lads.

One of my favourites, of the ancient Irish tunes. My wife & I play this tune often, especially while playing in Medieval costume in Carrickfergus Castle, on Hammered Dulcimer & Harp.

  • Thanks Ptarmigan - I love your hammered dulcimer version of Carolan's Captain O'Kane - Mike L

  • Thanks Ptarmi. You know the area he came from I suppose. Didn't he play for the Earl of Antrim?

    Cheers

    Mike

  • Yes indeed.

I believe he would have played for the Earl in Glenarm Castle, because we know that in 1745 Glenarm Castle became the principal seat of the Earl of Antrim.

Fortunately Sabine & I have had the opportunity to play this tune & many more, in costume, in both Glenarm Castle & their former stronghold Dunluce Castle, which is sadly only a ruin now.

  • Very pleasant. Love the grace notes on the 'tina. Nice guitar playing too

  • He's not bad is he? Thanks for the comments.

  • Very nice, I like it a lot!

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment.
