In Netherlands sometime they will ask you to do 4 exercises in a row ... The examiner will say: the first one to the left, then the second on the right, go straight on after traffic lights and turn right when you reach the church. That's quite hateful.

But this is the 90's, they could have changed it since then.

It depends where you stall too, if you stall on an empty road and recover well from it, they sometimes don't give a minor because they understand everyone stalls at some point in there life, even the most experienced driver can stall.

If you stall on a round about or pulling out of a busy junction they see it as being serious and can fail you for it.

@UnufcE If you make mistakes at the start of your test like that they can pass it off as nerves, if you show later in the test that you do all the proper observations then they can let you off a bit, thats what my driving instructor said happened to me. Thats why you see people when at the start of their test they stall and make all kinds of mistakes, they just tell you to calm down and carry on. Besides it was only the pavement side blind spots that I missed so its not really a serious fault.

I got 8 minors on my first attempt and passed 3 week ago. Honestly as long as you have payed attention on your lessons the only thing you have to deal with is not doing something really dangerous and trying to relax. I started the test and didnt even check around the blind spots so I thought I failed, chilled out and didnt really make many mistakes after. It is nerve racking though.

I passed my test a week ago, first time. I should have failed due to my emergency stop being poor. Basically, my foot slammed down on the brake.. but then came back up, then went back down. This added a few feet to the stopping distance (at 20mph) and was noticeable. The examiner said at the end that he should fail me for it but, due to my overall driving being superb, he said it would be a shame to fail me. He said I drive with finesse, which was a great compliment. Got 5 minor faults overall.

Also, I've got almost everything down in my driving but my instructor tells me my main problem is I always stop just short at junctions etc. I can't see the problem where I'm going really wrong here as from what I see, I'm only 1cm behind the line.

Can someone run me through turning at a junction effectively please? :)

@KidDynamite40 We have to do it. I'm not sure how serious an error it is but you do get marked down for not putting on the handbrake every time you stop.

@johnaiton no on the uk test you don't, maybe your instructor just said so to be on the safe side since most learners don't have good clutch control and end up stalling so its easier to use the handbrake and find the biting point.

@KidDynamite40 it's to prevent role back (or forward) mainly; she should need to do it on downward stops but if she pulls in facing down a hill she'll need to; it's just common practice when you're learning

I have this terrible sinking feeling in my stomach when I watch this, my nerves get the better of me in my driving test and my leg won't stop shaking so I stall repeatedly! It doesn't help that the instructor is always soooo CALM!!!! Its unnerving how calm they are! I wonder, would they fail me if I screamed throughout the whole test, cause it would help me get rid of my nervousness :D

i personally thought microsoft flight simulator 2004 was more challenging than the uk driving test and that program has more theoretical knowledge than the uk driving test.
