@Bandersnatch41 Yeah, but the tv series was made to soften the blow of the movie. Kids were traumatized by that film. And the tv version character designs are more distinct and nicer overall. Just look at Blackberry and Spartina.
@Rhiorrha Yeah but i like the movie more because it was more realistic in general. In the movie its shows that life can be harsh but it can also be wonderful. Where as in this crap its a sunsine and rainbows. And the people who made the movie had at lest the balls to make an animated movie that would be more for adults than childern. I dont see many people doing that today.
I hate how they water down - dumb down - award-winning novels to make insipid animated shows for children. Shows like this are for the parents who don't want their kids to read about or see reality (in animated form, anyway). But I guess this is what happens when we are so far removed from our food sources. Death and violence in the animal kingdom is a fact of life, a lot moreso than talking rabbits.
Guys, calm down about how crappy the Watership Down Series is! It IS, after all, a KIDS show. I don't think the actual movie would have set well with a lot of young people so there would be a sort of generic spin-off to the book and movie. They were just simply too violent.
I love the series myself. There are more subplots but they get the general idea of how the story goes. And there are TONS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Give it a chance. Kids too deserve to hear about this beautiful story
I don't know about the film and haven't attempted the book, sadly. But I used to watch the series when I was little, and my mum got me this YEARS ago on video. I still watch it every Christmas! Kehaar is my favourite... or maybe Dandelion. 'No need to bring the outdoors indoors!' <3
the movie and book were so much better. I totally agree with pixiechick... also, I haven't really watched the series, but I think I heard somewhere that they CHANGED Hyzenthlay's name?!?! seriously, how stupid can you get?!?! Hyzenthlay was my most-most favorite name in the whole book. plus it's in lapin, the original rabbits' language...
I love Watership Down the original movie and book! But I never realized it was a series! And why is Pipkin a kid??!?!?!!?!? And why does BigWig have like a beard thingy? He's only supossed to have a patch of hair on his head! And in the original Fiver is yellowish brown! So many differences! Ahh!! But still it's ok....I guess.
actually it's only the second season episode 8 and there's a second part of it that's episode 9! but thank you so much for uploading it i've got 4 volumes of it but thanks for uploading the rest! love this series so much ever since i was a little girl!
I just saw this episode..... Probably my favorite from the series! So warm and fuzzy. XD Two words that, having grown up with the movie, I would never have attached to Watership Down otherwise.... I just want to know this: WHY has this series not been played in the states?! :(
I just remember that I didn't know the movie before the series; I loved them all!^^ In the meanwhile I also watched the movie on youtube and still love the series XD Pipkin is such cute!
@TheDarkLatias950 This version was made especially for young children, I watched it when I was younger because the movie (although I still liked it) scared me. It was approved by Richard Adams
Did you know that Watership Down is a real hill in North Hampshire?
I can't decide on my favourite character in this series it's either: Pipkin, Fiver, Bigwig, Keehar or Hannah. I also think that Halkbit and Blackavar are very cool too.
ha ha im the opposite i knew there was the watership down TV series but i had no idea there was a movie and a book before the series. so when i looked up watership down expecting the TV series and got the movie insted i was stoked! :D and yah old animation rocks!!
You know, I completely agree. Trying to bridge a comparison between the book, movie, and cartoon adaptation just isn't being realistic. As far as a cartoon series adaptation, I thought it was brilliant.
o jesus, this is a lame show. not to be a downer, but the movie and the book were way better than... this. kee-har is a lame idiot in this movie, the charactars are all messed up, tha art, voices, and plot are all pathetic. watch the real movie for a real show i couldent even bear to finish this clip.
WHO DOESNT LOVE WATERSHIP DOWN but i do think its a bit scary for younger kids me and my best mate used to curl up on the sofa scared when we were about five lol thanks for posting this
Thrid Season's First Episode is "Campion Lives", (Think it might be the Warren Collapse at Redstone i think) when wondwort realises CAMPION IS a tratior.
I have to disagree there, this version may be "watered down" but i think it makes the story fluffy even when the rabbits fight if you watch on, you'll see wondwort destroyed for good by the black rabbit himself.
Man i rememmber reading the book around like 7 and watching the movie around 9 and um....this just killed it i mean its cute but wat happend to the story?thats wat i loved about it personally i think this kinda of hm cheapens the story
No, you're not. I clicked out of curiosity and I gotta say... this isn't Richard Adams' vision at all. It's not just the style, but the way they behave. It's out of character.
