People farm food, because people need to eat. It is not a luxury. People farm virtual currencies, because people will pay real money for it. Who is to blame? The consumer of course, I cannot blame the supplier if the demand is high. It is the people who buy the virtual currency that ruin the game. Ultimately, it is the designer of the game who is to blame, especially if no changes have been made to the game design to help eliminate the sales of virtual currency.

I'm so glad that I dopn't have problems with rmt anymore..I fucking HATED trying to get my boots or pin, for example, and having them on every square foot of the spawn zone. Prices for simple stacks of items (silent oil, food,etc) spiked in price from 7 k to 50k and up. Moreover square made it insanely hard to farm gold and gather mats to sell. By the time they finally fixed this problem WoW went gold mainstream. Combine this with Bad customer service and you got A dwindling popul7 million pplthey must be doing something right.

In a game like WoW, RMT don't affect the economy too much. They have an impact sure, but they can't manipulate and dominate it. With the ease of gold accumulation in that game, it really doesn't matter as much. Much less now than it did years ago, if that means anything. I can see why they'd say they try not to bother others as much as possible.
Now for a game like FFXI, where there was initially a very open system for manipulation, and where the economy is EASILY manipulable, they can DIAF.

Supply and demand, people. You don't buy, they can't sell. Everyone will be the first to admit they hate RMTs but many of those are also their customers. Personally, I don't have a problem with RMTs, because I understand that if I was rich and I wanted to buy the items I want instead of farming them, then I damn well can do that. Some MMOs like Eve Online even 'sell' virtual currency themselves. If you can't beat them join them - a lot of free MMOs even support servers through selling items.

Well i suppose there is two sides to this...the average ffxi player...someone who plays for fun and things like that, and then the RMT's who make it their job...honestly considering it's illegal i'm suprised they haven't done much about it. For an ffxi average player rmt's only present a problem if they are consistantly botting an hnm or something of that nature. If they are actually taking the time to camp it for themselves(not that many of them do...) well...that's another story...

I agree with Darthpaul. When there was more RMT, as much hassle and headache they were, it was easier to make more money, and the economy, despite the inflation, was actually alot more stable. Sure, a SH cost 10m+ back in those days, but it was easy to make 2m a day. A lot of people say that the economy is all relative, but I beg to differ. It's a pain in the ass. I wish things could just go back to how they used to be 2 years ago and everything would be okay.

I'm so glad that I dopn't have problems with rmt anymore..I fucking HATED trying to get my boots or pin, for example, and having them on every square foot of the spawn zone. It made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to enjoy the game....give them space? Yeah...what SPACE!? they covered everywhere!! At least this isn't an issue in FFXI anymore. And I pray it wont be one in XIV.

if you earn the gold yourself what difference does it make whether you buy some nice armor or sell it for real money? the process is still the same. they aren't the only people that farm gold. I dont play wow, i was never a fan. I play ffxi and there are allot of RMTs on there also. I'v never had a problem with any of them to be honest. They just get on with their job and leave you alone (mostly). Of course there are those who hack accounts, steal claims etc. but they're little in numbers

Prices for simple stacks of items (silent oil, food,etc) spiked in price from 7 k to 50k and up. Moreover square made it insanely hard to farm gold and gather mats to sell. By the time they finally fixed this problem WoW went gold mainstream. Combine this with Bad customer service and you got A dwindling popul7 million pplthey must be doing something right.

Yeah WoW is somewhat immune to RMTs due to almost all the gear being Soulbound and untradable, and gold is like worthless for getting gear at higher levels.
But you will never ever solve the RMT problem without fixing the economic inequality in the global economy first, which could never ever be done by Capitalism.
So my best advice, is just hire cheap slaves to do your bidding for you in the virtual world of mmos.

In a game like WoW, RMT don't affect the economy too much. They have an impact sure, but they can't manipulate and dominate it. With the ease of gold accumulation in that game, it really doesn't matter as much. Much less now than it did years ago, if that means anything. I can see why they'd say they try not to bother others as much as possible.
Now for a game like FFXI, where there was initially a very open system for manipulation, and where the economy is EASILY manipulable, they can DIAF.

Supply and demand, people. You don't buy, they can't sell. Everyone will be the first to admit they hate RMTs but many of those are also their customers. Personally, I don't have a problem with RMTs, because I understand that if I was rich and I wanted to buy the items I want instead of farming them, then I damn well can do that. Some MMOs like Eve Online even 'sell' virtual currency themselves. If you can't beat them join them - a lot of free MMOs even support servers through selling items.

Well i suppose there is two sides to this...the average ffxi player...someone who plays for fun and things like that, and then the RMT's who make it their job...honestly considering it's illegal i'm suprised they haven't done much about it. For an ffxi average player rmt's only present a problem if they are consistantly botting an hnm or something of that nature. I completely agree with everything Ronskfc said. This is what my videos were all about. Who cares if they "need to survive", it doesn't change the fact they are making money off intellectual property, which is theft. Not to mention RMT is the reason why accounts get hacked. BTW that Steve Sawyer guy looks like the biggest creep in the world, maybe because he really is. He's a freaking criminal wearing a business suit.

Case in point; One of my buddies RMT on WoW, and his account now has been hacked over a dozen times! One time they was able to change his password a minute after he logged off!

I have no problem with RMT doing what they do usually, but now that in FFXI they are working hard to steal/hack peoples accounts it's another story all together. For someone to have put YEARS of hard work into an account just for it to be taken by an RMT is ridiculous and heart shattering.

I really do feel bad for all of them. We sit here and say fuck them fuck this fuck that but its really not their fault. If the economy is poor and that is all they have to look forward to every month is 100$ damn right they're going to work wherever they can to get as much money as possible. 2 years ago if you went to any spawn point where an NM that drops anything valuable you'd find 20-30 RMT there. When SE finally got off their asses and cleaned the RMT out of their game they shfted tactics. These days they hack accounts and strip them, then sell the gil and items. So yeah, fuck RMT I hope they starve.

Okay, first of all, stop shifting the blame around. Farmers, Sellers and Buyers are -ALL- to blame - -NONE- of these people are doing what they should be doing. And, stop feeling sorry for farmers, they're not watching a screen all day, they have a bot doing it all for them. The entire RMT circle here is just a major downside to any MMO. It's not a job. It's a violation of the ToS. You may aswell be trying to argue that robbing a bank is fine if you're poor.

dude 3 years or so ago RMTS raided FFXI!!! it caused a huge inflation making it impossible to make gill.... thanks to the RMTS u couldnt even kill the mobs u needed to make money on this game.... i understand they need the money to support themselves but there messing the game up for other people give them space?! Exacly good point ive been on FFXI for over a year ago in Odin server and like shit i started Goldsmithing and now days people said there amazed i got it to 21 at the start and i must admit it was hard players who've been on longer than me said its a lot harder now cause of Rmt and its even harder to Mpk them now too and people buy Gil too so there heling as well and if people say '' well i buy gil cause i dont have enough time to Farm etc'' then they should not bother playing >.>

I agree with Darthpaul. When there was more RMT, as much hassle and headache they were, it was easier to make more money, and the economy, despite the inflation, was actually alot more stable. Sure, a SH cost 10m+ back in those days, but it was easy to make 2m a day. A lot of people say that the economy is all relative, but I beg to differ. It's a pain in the ass. I wish things could just go back to how they used to be 2 years ago and everything would be okay.

i agree, i leveled thf for farming because that is how i wanted to make my gil. now that theres no rmt theres nothing worth farming for the time you put in! i used to be able to rake in 1 mil a day and now im lucky if i can make 50k a day.
