Most outfields played very shallow back in the dead ball era (although 1919 was known as the last year of the dead ball era notably because of Ruth's homers and a change in attitude from the spectators), almost shadowing the infielders. Oh, and you made Ruth's ankles too thick. Ruth was famous for his little ankles.

Apart from the problem of Ruth throwing with the wrong hand (which you explained) the game you described was NOT the last Ruth played as a member of the Red Sox. He played in the second game of the doubleheader versus the White Sox that day. He then travelled with the Sox to New York and Washington where they finished the 1919 season. Ruth played in every game except the last one. The box scores of all these games will verify this.
