the worst mistake usa made is driving away the islamic union courts from somalia. if usa didnt allow ethiopia to do so,there would be maybe peace in somalia today

Part of what was the Union of Islamic Courts is now the government in Somalia. The other element is within al Shabaab which is doing a disservice to all of the people of Somalia. Ethiopia was wrong to have entered Somalia and the US was wrong for supporting that decision and even participating in scattering the Union of Islamic Courts. When Somali citizens get tired of dying they will then force these bad "boys" to end this nonsense.

Ethiopia is not the main problem with Somalia. It is the Somali people who must address their own problem. They fight among themselves and other external forces cheer them on and even provide them with the tools to better kill one another. Wise leaders are not tricked by tricksters from the outside. Wise leaders do what is good for their country, their land, their people.

me i still don't understand why Somalis fight when they are all same religion, same people. it is difficult to end this because they fight no one not the west or other foreign black people but themselves. i do not understand especially if they accuse America of causing this war. this war will only end by Somalis them selves

Mr west thanks for the commentary, but as the proverb goes 'you can take a donkey to the well but you can't force it to drink' as a 20year old i have grown very cynical of somalia and its unending conflicts and in fact sadly the whole of africa by extension, i just see no light at the end of tunnel but again, the 'black swan theory' of professor Nassim Nicholas Taleb gives me some hope, that some unexpected occurrence might shake things up and make a peaceful somalia and Africa a reality.

Angola was in a civil war for 27 years but look at it today. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for that long but look at the progress South Africa has made.

Somalia will be whole when the ordinary people of Somalia march on the insurgents, the government, and the foreigners and say enough is enough, and we're not leaving until the killing ends. This means marching from the camps along the border of Kenya in the hundreds of thousands.

When there has been long neglect and when real change comes, it takes time to correct years of neglect. But the process of correcting it is progress.

Genocide of whites in South Africa is hardly a problem.

BTW, HIV/AIDS was manufactured under "Synthetic Biological Agent" program called Public Law 91-171 beginning in 1969 by US government. Knowing this is the beginning of progress.......
