  • This is the best entry from Germany ever and shoud had win the contest.

  • This is the most beautiful song in whole Eurovision history!!!!

  • I think Switzerland and France were better than this even if it was better than the UK

  • I love this song! LG gaggi

  • good entriy from Germany :)

  • better than Lena

  • @vassilischr

    1000% agree.

  • This was the best ESC song in History and I believe that the winner was "Johnny Blue" in 1981

  • o, she's born in Klaipeda, so do I.. :)

  • ´´verkaforever´´ people respect that you are from UK and love UK´s entry more than this, but UK´s entry is childish and this one is for more mature listeners.....

  • Don't get me wrong- I love "Johnny Blue" as well. I love ESC because there are so many completely different songs.

  • @verkaforever

No sorry, Bucks Fizz is just crap...how dare you compare this song to foolish and crap Bucks Fizz??? This must be one of the best songs of eurovision ever!!!

  • Good song! Not better than Bucks Fizz, but good.

  • How this song did not win? United Kingdom did not deserved to win that year. Some other year yes but not in 1981. Greetings from Serbia :)

  • Switzerland gave us zero points - those rascals. Mrs. Valeitis still has the same hairdo till today, she is beautiful es ever. Her husband died not long ago of lung cancer. No scandals over the years. Remarkable lady.

  • Amazing song. How on earth Bucks Fizz won this year I'll never know, we have put in so many better entries than that that didn't win!

  • The subject matter was a bit lighter to say the least, and the stripping in those days was novel. The German and French songs were both worthy winners, but somehow moved me to tears..

  • This song should have won. The best eurovision entry ever.

Nice Performance, Nice melody, Nice meaning. I've never voted in eurovision, but if I had the chance I would have sent 20 sms. Juries did not know how to vote that time!

  • this song and den vilda,sweden,1996 are my two favourite euro songs ever.Unfortunately one finished second and the other third. Apart from 1985 ,the winner has never been my favourite!

  • I am English. How this song never won I will never know. Ours was okay and second place about thirty points behind johnny blue would be about right in my opinion.

  • I like the kid with harmonica

  • i have to disagree with most of you. the song is absolutely nothing special. what makes it a hit is the excellent performance of lena. that alone speaks volumes about what really talented people can do, and yes, she could have won. but it would have been her and not the song. greetings from greece

  • She was great, the song even better.west germany should have won,no doubt about it and the year before with THEATRE.LONDON CALLING! The best song in 79 was socrtes,Elpida I think.Greetngs to Greece.

  • I feel the meaning is not only what talented people can do. Through blidness a boy indicates that people can do many thinks, even if they think that their life has not any meaning. It is still the beginning of eighties, that people with special needs did not have the contemporary support.

  • well i'm German and English but i've always liked the German, continental and Israeli songs better than the English ones and this one was really great. Thanks and this was a great year for songs.,

  • clearly the strongest performance that evening!

followed closely by france, switzerland and a coutry that brings great entrys almost everytime - israel!

  • This lady is clearly a very talented singer - much better than bucks fizz. Maybe if she had ripped her skirt off she would have won! ;)

  • Great, großartig!

  • When you´re an english pepole - i love England - and Deutschland of course !

Deutschland und - and England forever !!!

    Wir - we´re / gegen - against / die ganze Welt - the whole world / zusammen - together : DEUTSCHLAND + ENGLAND :-))

    EWIGE FREUNDSCHAFT - FRIENDSCHIP NEVER

    ENDS :-))))

  • Long live Germany and it's WONDERFUL people and BEAUTIFUL country!! You have a fantastic language and a style of your own! Best wishes to Germany and all who live there!

  • When i listen to them now, i agree... Johnny Blue is a wonderfull song, it should have won.

But I remember then the Bucks Fizz performance was so amazing... with the skirts flying around... everybody thought it was the best.

  • This should have won. I think that Bucks Fizz appeals to younger audience but adults appreciate more the 1981 entries of Germany and Switzerland.

  • Fantastic!

I love her songs since my childhood (Die Hitparade).

    Joe.

  • Lena is Ltihuanian :)

  • Lena was actually 37 years old when she sang Johnny Blue in Eurovision, but it is the best ever Eurovision song with a person's name in the title.Closely followed by "Monica" for Cyprus from that same 1981 contest.

  • She was 38 years old at that time - and looked much younger, very pretty ! Good song for Germany.

  • Far better than the ridiculous Making your mind up!

  • I disagree. Johnny Blue is a nice song, but Making Your Mind Up is NOT ridiculous! I'm from the U.K., but I'm not just biased- Bucks Fizz were great!

  • Bucks Fizz were great, apart from the fact they were not very good singers and their song was nothing at all without the act.

  • Lena has such an amazing voice.

  • For my the best song in Eurovision 1981

  • Germany had a good run there for a few years. I think this would have won back in the seventies.

  • johny blue..ich fuehle mich traurig :(

  • beautifully sung, and a great song

  • What is she doing right now? Where does she live?

  • @ union She is Still on Stage in the German TV.She is here still very Popular.she is Living in Munich (München),Bavaria. She is Married and have two grown Children.(Age 26 and 36).

  • Catira bellísima... un homenaje a la belleza femenina...

  • God bless Germany!

  • Beautiful

  • great song! my german all time favourite.

  • Am I the only one whom she reminds of Karen Carpenter? A very soulfoul song from Germany; very good indeed and would have been a deserving winner. It would have brought the 'home country scream' a full twelve years earlier.

  • lena valaitis are Lithuanian :P

  • she was born in Memel, this was German during the war. She came to Germany as a baby by the end of the war.

  • memel is now-a-days klaipeda, so she has gediminas' blood! :P

  • comidonohospital??? Wath is means????

  • Can anyone else hear the similarity between this and L'Oiseau Et L'Enfant or am I imagining it?

  • macht immer wieder spass! unvergessene eurovision song contest zeiten (und erfolge!)

  • ja das warn noch zeiten, leider ham wir zur zeit keine gscheiden lieder mehr für den contest heul

  • MY FAVORITE SONG OF EUROVISION XD

  • Used to make me sad, even as a child. Nice song though...

  • Great, strong ballad. I only knew the Finnish translation of this before. Now I hear the original one first time. Johnny laulujasi kaikki soittaa.... mikä onkaan väri taivaan.

  • This is a wonderful song & (maybe) should have won!! For me Germany have had so many great songs over the 70s & 80s - and yet only one win!! A real tradegy - maybe its just not the BRITS thats hated!

  • Nice song One of the best ever in ESC contest,

Tack Lena för din underbara stämma och sång.

  • It`s nice to hear when people from other Countries like this song! Cause I`m from Germany and i know that we didn`t heard for a very loooooooong time such a wonderful Song from us like this one. For me this was Germanys greatest and strongest song - i can`t stop hearing this cause i love the lyrics and the melody to death!

  • evet sana katılıyorum....

  • the very song excellent:)

  • She looks like Linda from Dynasty :-P

  • I love you lena....

  • I think like PERNILLO : Much better than Nicole, Mr. Siegel`s greatest Song! And better than Bucks Fizz! 12 points from me!

  • Das beste deutsche Lied allerzeit in diesem Wettbewerb..the best German entry ever..

  • Ah Lena Valaitis is great :) I love her bavarian pronounciation of RRRRRR *g*

  • Her pronunciation is lithaunian because that is where she originally comes from. but in bavaria they do the RRR too, that's true. and it certaimly IS charming.

  • My all time favourite ESC song. It's great to see the performance. Thanx a million for sharing it with us

  • One of my favourite songs from 1981. If you have Doris Dragovic from 1986 Zeljo Moja then post it up I would love to hear it

  • Beautiful!

  • One of the best entries in Eurovision history :) Mr. Grand Prix Ralph Siegel does it again...

  • I love this entry!!

  • Thx 4 sharing this vid...

She´s a great woman and also a great singer

  • A much better song than Nicole's "Ein Bisschen Frieden"
