The only reason that proposition 19 did not pass, it is because of closed-minded and misinformed people, NOT like chief Dunbar, but the majority of people who voted against prop 19, which probably NEVER consumed marijuana in their lives, that we as a society cease to evolve. We still listen to these guys who say weed is bad, who rather advertise alcohol and tobacco (and they do), which kill hundreds of thousands of ppl everywhere for profit. Good job. Nice theory, but perhaps you should consider human beings in general aren't smart enough to account for every eventuality that may occur if it was legalized.

It seems like each side has good points to argue but there's one argument that trumps every other one: What will the effects be on our school systems and children? Nothing you can say would ever lead me to believe there wouldn't be an increase of kids in class too stoned to learn something.

@avrilrockedyou I consider that everyday. There is a lot of people who isn't smart enough for many things. But I don't think the people who came up with the proposition fit that description. My sister is 15 and her friends are around 16 and I know her friends are starting to buy things like strobes or other crap teenagers start to drink at that age, and some of them even smoke cigarettes. My point is these things should be unavailable to kids as the law states. Who's to blame for that?

@Wolf5Vlud And f we think about it, It's probably easier for a minor to get weed from an illegitimate source, let's say a common dealer in the streets, looking to make some easy money than at a store, which can ask for the buyers ID in case the clerk is not sure of the buyer's age. If my sister is to buy weed one day, I hope she doesn't but if she does, I would rather prefer if she did it in a controlled environment, not in a dirty alley, and if she got caught she wouldn't get locked up.

There's kids who would hardly have an interest in it, except for the fact that peer pressure from those who you would consider old enough, maybe even those who get it legally.
