  • he's got an eddie cochran thing going on in the video.

  • he was my first guitar hero; snuck out of the house when i was about 14, got on a bus to Montreal, saw him live, around 1984 Aztec Camera days, one of the best nights of my life

  • Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!

  • Go on yirself Roddy...great guitarist/sondwriter/and singer

Incidentally The Dip or Gardenhall is a fine wee boozer.

  • The Diplomat was the name when it opened. "The Dip" for short.

Its now called Gardenhall Inn in East Kilbride. It was a new pub not far Duncanrig Secondary. .Roddys high school. Westwood was also where Roddy lived. I delivered his milk and papers and went to same school a year below him. Superb music

  • @ecosse19 Ma dad was in a Band with Roddy Frame N He was in the same school aswell

  • I thought The Dip was a pub in East Kilbride. In fact I am sure I saw a picture of it on a Roddy site somewhere.

    Still a great song.

  • I heard the Dip was short for the Diplomat, a pub in East Kilbride,Scotland, which is Roddy's home town. But i asked someone from East Kilbride and she said she'd never heard of it.

  • I've heard that the 'Dip' was a pub in london that they went to when recording the album Hard Land Hard Rain. Is this correct? I think we should be told!

  • to good for words

  • shush.

  • What a great album this is..Vinyl is still the best... PS Anyone know where that extra bit at the end is from ?

  • grahampl, the end verse is from It's Alright Ma, (I'm Only Bleeding) by Bob Dylan, Roddy usually uses a verse from that song when singing live, i've seen Roddy 5 times and each time the last verse has changed. hope this helps.

  • Cheers for that - I knew I recognised it from somewhere..

  • he always reminded me of a euro version of bob dylan to some degree, especially this song...which seemed to show his true spirit in many ways. but with a decidedly more jazzy approach, really intelligent lyrics and chord changes....and a way better voice.

  • class, goodnight orson...should not be followed...should be recognized

  • kinda think its like orson welles ,how the fuck can you follow this.

  • Roddy was only 16 or 17 when he wrote this song. He wrote some phenomonal songs at that young age. High Land Hard Rain album was unbelieveable. He peaked really young in my opinion.

  • Yeh...back in the days when there was no Xbox to steal the imagination of the youth! Bring back meaningful songs, beautiful tunes - hell..just bring back Roddy Frame! Genius!!

  • thankyou Xenakis, what a lovely version.

  • god them memories jst come flooding back . i have not heard this in over 20 years omg . i did cry while i was watching it and having a sing alone . ..... scotland the brave ....

  • he is at his best when its just him and his acoustic - great session

  • There are 4 songs from this session posted. Belle of the Ball, Pianos and Clocks, Down the Dip and Spanish Horses. Anyone know what the show or session was and if there are any other songs available ? Always at his best when accoustic, and this is great accoustic.

  • Fabulous song, fabulous version, fabulous man.

  • Great video, Rody at his carefree best
