that movie was shit, they made jim out to be a drunken dickhead and thats not what he is at all. although....at times he was, but that wasnt ALL That he was. oliver stone fucks it all up AGAIN
this movie was alright the first time i watched it but now i feel like the script was really bad and the actors didnt know anything about what they were talking about
Stone's portrayal of Morrison bummed me out. He turned him into a cartoon character and focused on the most flamboyant aspects of his personality, which had already been covered ad nauseum by dozens of rock journalists and biographers. I also think that it was a bad idea to let Kilmer sing. Yes, he sounds a bit like Morrison but just like his overacting in the film, the singing comes across as pretentious and lame. This could have been an excellent film in more capable hands.
@Filmaker25 because of how she acted on drugs.she almost tried to kill hm once if i remember.pamela was jims first love but he found someone else that he could truely be with.the paris trip was meant as jims farewell to pamela.he always loved her but couldnt be with her the way soulmates should be.
this song was written for linda ashcroft as was riders, la women, waiting for the sun, not to touch the earth, people are strange,......most of jims post debutalbum hits
@rhyperior1000 Huh? Most sources claim that the lyrics are based on Anais Nin's novel A Spy in the House of Love (written in '54). The main character, Sabina, is a gorgeous married woman who finds herself attracted to almost every eligible man she meets. She develops an alter ego (a spy in the house of love) and tells her husband that she's been hired as an actress overseas (so she can spend weeks away from home and indulge in affairs). Perhaps he simply dedicated the lyrics to Ashcroft?
@ritter89 yea but ashcroft insipered morrison to write the song for her/introduced him to nins book.the song is based on the book, but it is a private message for ashvroft.for a better explanation get ashcrofts book wild child.it explains there relationship well and the meanings of songs/poems dedicated for her.my post was meant for everyone saying this song was written for pamela
I don't know why so many people didnt like the movie. it wasnt a classic or anything but it had dozens of doors songs and val kilmer was a good morrison
Met Ray +Robbie 3 times,Ray didn't like this movie, but I think he knew this movie would always be great publicity for The Doors,Doors of the 21st century, and Riders on The Storm. Robbie is a little guy, with great talent ,and great humanitarian.
No sense to argue of Manzarek role in the band's formaiton! It's just him and Him were two pieces of one whole! as to the movie - shme to Stone! A a man who lived that same times and basically that same life in his youth, could have done a better job. Much better. For some reasons he thought that pointing at Jim's worst parts would make the movie more success... tribute to contemporary times when "having fun" is the the only goal in many people's lives... Disgrace!
@BlackCrowNavajo Keep in mind he did live in the same times, but was in 'Nam during those times, he cried saying he MISSED Morrison, even though he never met the man once, or saw him live.
@BleckyDownToEarth Even if the movie had like a better script, Kilmer still would be the perfect fit for Morrison, he looks like him, even in movies when he's isn't playing him, I saw some movies with him in it before I saw The Doors, and thought "Dang, that guy looks lke Morrison"
that was the thing that I felt sucked most about this movie.. the way Stone made the band seem like insignificant supporting cast to Morrison.
Morrison was a great frontman, but the music that was primarily written by Manzarek is what underwrote the Doors success.. and it was Manzarek who really got the band out there & kept them productive.. this was basically just a bio on Morrison, not an accurate accounting of the life & reality of the collective Doors.
Amen. I know for a fact that Kilmer, Machlachlan, Whaley, and whoever played John didn't like the movie either. Only person who liked it was Stone.
Ray said that a friend asked him one day, if Morrison was really that bad, when did you EVER get the time to make songs?! Or when did he get to write poetry. It only showed the Jimbo side of Morrison, not the Jim.
@nickbelane69 Yeah, well he said to John (I read his book) "when this shit is all over man, the music will still be there" well, no surprise if he did, he made money off of it! And it was a big breakthrough in his career, everyone else who played the other Doors didn't like the movie, it was a flop man.
@GeorgeWashingtonX What an idiot, I think he was saying it seriously too, I've seen someone (Including myself) jokingly say "Morrison was a god" but not THE GOD, what an idiot.
thats media for you, twisting the truth, brain washing us to believe everyword and every scene.I thought the movie was entertaining because it inspired me just as another movie similiar to this"across the universe" but they bent who Jim Morrison realy was way to far
perfect call.. Manzarek was the heart & mind of the Doors.. he was the most skilled musician and was the leader and stabilizing force in most ways, on & off the stage..Morrison needed Manzarek to construct the music for his words.. Krieger was also a decent musician, but on his own he would've never been heard from. They all contributed to the band.. but without Manzareks' musical skills & vision, Krieger and Morrison would've probably just been slamming poetry around coffee shops & bars?
@GeorgeWashingtonX Hey, I was just looking at our comments, when I saw a reply, look at these haters who voted all our comments down, and they call themselves Doors fans, more like Morrison fanboys!
hey man my fave bands the doors by far and ill tell you something.... i agree! it was terrible val kilmer made morrsion out as just a drunken stined twat 24/7 when he was clearly not its so inaccurate all the naked girls on stage never happened and "your all a bunch of fuckin slaves!" pretty sure he said idiots
i agree actually, i'm one of the biggest doors fans out there, but they made it look like they didn't get along at all, they made robby and john look insignificant and shy, and it was just realy, terrible.

when morison was a kid his family were driving to new mexico and they past by a car crash where a few indians had died and morrison being 4 years old at the time felt the spirits of those indians jump into his body.
in the movie thats what those indian guys where, spirits haunting him his whole life.
