As a former soldier looking at this footage for the first time, I would attach no blame to the helicopter crew. If I had those rules of engagement and had seen that unfold in real time. I too would have opened fire and killed as many as possible of the people walking with the armed insurgents. The crew sought permission before opening fire and everything else seems quite reasonable. You idiots. If you listen to him, these guys are pretty much brainwashed in to thinking war is like call of duty. It's all a game to them because that's how they were trained, and they come back not only with visible scars, but deep seeded emotional scars that will never be healed.
This doesn't excuse them from killing innocent people, innocent CHILDREN. But the US isn't to blame anymore than Afghanistan is for Al Qaeda. These crimes against humanity are products of establishments gone wrong.

As a former soldier looking at this footage for the first time, I would attach no blame to the helicopter crew. If I had those rules of engagement and had seen that unfold in real time. I too would have opened fire and killed as many as possible of the people walking with the armed insurgents. The crew sought permission before opening fire and everything else seems quite reasonable. Sorry folks, I know that my comment will upset some of you.

I don't have respect for people who join the military because of all the fun we seem to be having since Bush, or otherwise simply were in combat, needless as it is, and expect to be thanked. Yes-All seemed rather a tad vicious but in my estimation there seemed to be a bunch of chaps with AK-47's strolling about and then the appearance of a very real RPG about to engage the Apache gunship.Terrible shame about the children(very sickening to see that)however,what was there father thinking driving his little van into a battle killing zone.He should have let them out on the corner.Americans are very gung ho but i saw nothing that wasnt justified there at all.Death is a shame.So is War

@unfor93ttable You've established a very fine point that Medics&Rescue personnel are never 2be engaged by the military(the same doesn't necessarily hold true 4paramilitaries).However,there are absolutely no markings indicating that it was an emergency vehicle or rescue party!not even a white flag.The pilot&gunner,albeit stupidly,made the mistake of claiming they were retrieving the weapons as well as the bodies-not so.They were mistaken.However,as a father would you drive in2 that?Thats my point
