  • Wan Luo (Acholi, Langi and Alur escpecially) mito waribbe wunu karacel. We have a beautiful culture and should not put ourselves into a situation where we have to look up to the south for "cultural trends"

  • the bboying is art, The Hip Hop are change the world

  • that little kid who does the backflip is AMAZING! i had a video of him dancing from when i visited heals last year but i lost it because my computer died. they are all great but that kid can dance!

  • dis is a nice vedio.. kids of uganda.wow

  • Acholi and Lango cultures are the best cultures in Uganda no doubt about it!

  • Hahahaa I think Joramjojo has a point. Acoli dances are superior, beautiful and meaningful. Put the healing messages in them and build that culture instead of this hip hop ape.

  • no one said your dances arent beautiful. however, you declaring that they are superior is a bit ethnocentric, is it not? bottom line: you and joramjojo are close-minded fools. theres a difference between hiphop culture and rap culture. while the latter is largely destructive, the former has proven to be a positive release for many urban artists.

  • I have great respect for hip-hop and rap too by the way. My comment was in context of the video, to me the last part of the video which had Acholi dancing was more exciting than the hip- hop part. If that's being foolish and closed minded then it is unfortunate.

  • finding the last part more exciting and declaring that the entire dance is "superior" are two different things, wouldnt you say? previously, you also declared that acholi was superior to "hiphop ape" [sic].

  • im not sure what this is supposed to mean, but i think you are saying that monkeys perform hiphop, or perhaps that the children are aping hiphop. either way, you are the simian that cant type proper english.

also, as far as hiphop goes, you just got SERVED. lemme see you do that with acholi. BAM!

  • Very disgusting!!!! Our people have suffered soooooo much because of a foreign ideology (christianity) that was imposed on them by guns. Now foreigners are using a ghetto sub culture that has failed the very communities they're coming from, to heal the victims of Americanism. Acholi have a culture and No thanks to your Sub-culture!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for raising this issue. HEALS puts a lot of emphasis on teaching the children about traditional Acholi culture. All the traditional dances you see in this video, the kids learned at HEALS. These kids, however, do not live in a vacuum cut off from the outside world. Like millions of young people around the world they are drawn to and fascinated by Hip Hop dance, music, and culture. They themselves requested a Hip Hop class and this

  • project seeks to introduce them to the POSITIVE elements of Hip Hop culture so that they realize that there is more to Hip Hop than some of the crude music they hear on the radio. They have taken this class and made it their own by incorporating Acholi dance into their breakdancing and using traditional Acholi instruments to create Hip Hop beats. The children have really enjoyed learning something new and take great pride in their ability to showcase the many talents they have.

  • Wow... this almost put me to tears. This is what it is all about. I hope this becomes prosperous, and I hope these kids will improve on years to come. The future of hip-hop rests on them!

  • this is great !!!

  • this video is very inspirational

may god bless your Courageous Hearts

how can we help holla back..!

  • I<3UGANDA

  • This is Hip Hop at it's greatest potential! To Organize, edify and heal community.
