If you look at the video in regular speed not in fast forward it looks as though the elephant wasn't trying to hurt him. I actually think the elephant grabbed his arm thinking the guy wanted to swing on it or possibly just to playfully throw the guy in the water. What happened was the guys arm was in a bad position to take any weight so when he got pulled he dislocated his elbow. An honest mistake from an elephant that didn't fully understand human anatomy.

Wild animals are unpredictable no matter how tame they are. Whatever experience you have with them, you should never put yourself in a position where the animal can attack you. Animals will tell you off through body language. If someone was hanging off your face you would tell them to back off. Since animals can't talk, they will use other ways, and once they realise you're weaker, they will seriously put you to the test, thus making them dangerous and have to be destroyed.

It's easy to assume a wild animal won't hurt you just because you have handled it for years. But they can turn aggressive at any given moment and will be exterminated as a result. Not all wild animals will become so, but I still say give them space and respect otherwise both lives will be at risk.
