Catholicism was a vehicle to bring the Gospel to my understanding through the ages. Without the religion and structure of Catholicsm the Gospel would have been lost. The word of God through Christ has never changed. It was God's plan.

That is simply not true. There were pockets of true Christians scattered around, many of whom were obliterated (or were attempted to be) by Rome. To ignore the fact that Constantine brought church and state together is to ignore history. And, if church and state do not exist, how come the Vatican wields such political power in the world? Just because the other religions were permited to do some sort of ritual thing does not imply one world religion; Remember "Dominus Iesus" and its teaching that only the Catholic church has the full means to salvation as Christ intended and other religions have man-made defects unacceptable to Christ.

Do not read "the same yesterday, today and forever" wrongly. This talks about God's holiness and character, not about particular covenants or judgements. If that were the case, don't you think the world today is as bad, if not worse, than Sodom and Gomorrah . . . but why no destruction from the Lord? And the Lord Himself declares the difference in His judgements, when He decided there would never again be a global flood. How could He do this if *everything* He did was to always be "the same"?
But by the criteria you have set, you are making a liar of the Lord. If by, "I do not change" you take it to mean that God never changes in His Covenant relationships with mankind, then how would you explain the destructive judgements that He has handed down in the past, yet here saying "Therefore you are not consumed, o sons of Jacob"? I like to think that all religions of god, are true and great and also the council of trent came from a time that hated anyone opposing the church, so it was only just trying to keep its history in vatican 2, I mean all churchs are good since they all are true only in the sense that they practice what jesus practiced. I remember in the late 1990s Pope John Paul II once again sat with Hindus and prayed together.....the Pope said that their God was one and the same. I was really taken aback by that statement...I saw right there that the Pope was WRONG! Jesus never bent for any other god than the God of the Jews...Yahweh. And when John Paul died I was disgusted to see how so many were literally worshipping his corpse like a God.Not even the angels of heaven wanted men to kneel or bow down to them when visiting.

What is more important than remaining divided to preserve a specific doctrine is to LIVE the faith -to accept all, to pray for all, and to follow Christ's teaching, "Love thy neighbor as thyself."

That is simply not true. There were pockets of true Christians scattered around, many of whom were obliterated (or were attempted to be) by Rome. To ignore the fact that Constantine brought church and state together is to ignore history. And, if church and state do not exist, how come the Vatican wields such political power in the world? Look at the work of Opus Dei over the centuries (and it is still going on!). Would Christ approve? I think not.

I think some religions are truer than others.I also believe that God exists,and that if he ever did walk the earth as a human being,then Jesus would probably fit anyone's expectation of what God is like.I just cannot imagine Jesus subjecting sinners to all the horrible and sadistic punihments as described in traditional notions of hell.

In My church Sect Of Seventh Day Adventism I believe that this is Nonsense My Beliefs is to take into consideration the whole Bible Not Just a few books of it In Revelation it says to Not add to the scriptures and to not take any words away from it! so by just using Parts of the Bible is totally sacrilegious you would be taking Gods word In Vain Sorry but Isn't that a sin?

No I'm not implying that you can use scripture to clarify what you're conveying I'm just talking about the sects that use just the first few books of the new testament and Psalms & Proverbs those types of things God Never Abolished the law The 10 Commandments are yes still In effect including the one about the sabbath, and the Day never Got Changed! According to the Bible does it ever Say it was changed?? if God Is the Same Yesterday, Today, And Forever wouldn't the Day He Chose Stay The Same?

Slightly off-topic but let's address that. Don't you think it is significant that "the one about the sabbath" is the only Commandment not repeated in the New Testament? Colossians 2:16-17 also makes interesting reading.

Do not read "the same yesterday, today and forever" wrongly. This talks about God's holiness and character, not about particular covenants or judgements. If that were the case, don't you think the world today is as bad, if not worse, than Sodom and Gomorrah . . . but why no destruction from the Lord? And the Lord Himself declares the difference in His judgements, when He decided there would never again be a global flood. How could He do this if *everything* He did was to always be "the same"?

But by the criteria you have set, you are making a liar of the Lord. If by, "I do not change" you take it to mean that God never changes in His Covenant relationships with mankind, then how would you explain the destructive judgements that He has handed down in the past, yet here saying "Therefore you are not consumed, o sons of Jacob"? That wouldn't really make sense, would it?
Have you no comment to make on the Lords' view of the Sabbath?

Correct - religion is man-made. Christianity is not religion. Judaism wasn't religion - the priests made it so, and The Lord continued to chastise them. Just like Creation, it was perfect, then perfectly spoiled by mankind.

The fact is that they are moneymaking scam artists (although not the only ones) who need to repent of their ways and false rituals, which have absolutely no biblical basis. No one here is insulting RC's per se, many of my friends are RC's and I love them dearly - just a crying shame they were so brainwashed from an early age. All I want for them is to know the Truth. "Other religions" are simply against God (John 14:6)- why would I want to kow-tow to them like Rome has? (prostituting itself)

1054 was the year of the Schism. Before this year there was only one Church in the world, the Romans split off at this point, and then a few hundred years later the others began popping up - but today the one original Church is still to be found! The different teachings of these many churches reveal a different spirit, an absence of complete truth. Only the Orthodox Church remains true to its teaching which it had for the first and second thousand years of its existence.

crowebroke: the Church effectively split into 2 spheres of influence with the Great Schism; Rome didn't "break" from the Church! That is preposterous. Since the schism the Orientals have gone nowhere; they bicker sonstantly among themselves, and their efforts at evangelisation are miniscule. Rome continued and thrived, spreading throughout the world.
