Miami Vice - Tina Turner- Whats Love Got to do with it

Has anyone noticed that Crockett is steering on the "wrong side" 1:03 the first clips and then in the last he is steering on the "right side" 2:11 ? When they are heading to Bahamas he is steering on the "right side" all the time. I did some research and what i come up with was that they have been using 4 stingers. But it is rare to have the steering wheel on the left side on boats, and on the drawings its on the starboard.

I think the editors tried to use flipping the film ("mirror" image) from a single heli-cam footage to give the illusion that they are heading away from Miami at the beginning of the episode (see Russ Ballard "Voices") and then flip the film to make it look like they are heading back to Miami at the end of the episode. Even then, Crockett and Tubbs keep switching places in the same scene!

@assoverteakettle I have compared the two scenes (voices and Whats love got to do with it) and i got it! on "voices clip" look exactly on 0:44 and "Whats love clip" exactly on 1:54 Look at the clouds, the waves and the boats swell or "splash". Yet the tina turner clip is slightly poorer quality but if you look well you will see. Then run them both at the same time, and youll see that they are mirrored. The camera move is exctly the same!

same with me.... i loved just watching that long needle nose scarab taking on the rolling swells of the sea so much that i went out and bought one of my own to do that. i rebuilt an old sea-ray srv 240 with twin mercruisers and run it on lake michigan. people called it - that cool miami vice boat! it too on the seas exactly the same as that $300K+ scarab! This was truly a great episode in my opinion. The song was a perfect selection, which MV was always known for. That's why this show had the popularity it did, and 25 years later STILL has a huge following. In fact, this is the only TV show I've ever purchased on DVD, as I never buy TV shows on DVD to begin with. However, MV is the exception in my case. That's how good this show is to me :)

MV always employed the perfect marriage of video and music, which is why this show was so popular.

Actually he was feeling rather sick, according to an interview PMT did where he admitted this particular scene was not the fun it appears to be. PMT stated the boat was ride was so rough that he began to feel not only ill, but rather beat up as well and couldn't wait until it was over.

If you really look closely you can see that it isn't all fun and games in this scene, as it is obviously quite a rough ride!

Yeah, I was surprised when that happened because I always thought when they finally caught up with Calderon Tubbs would have surely been the one to avenge his brother over anyone else. Either way at least he died. Of course Angelina shattered every window in the house with that awful scream but at least they could afford new ones.

I think the director (Paul M. Glaser) purposely had Sonny shoot Calderon because it would have been difficult for Angelina to come back to Tubbs (Season #2 "Sons and Lovers") if she knew he pulled the trigger on her father.

I never noticed that until I read in another forum where they simply used the mirror trick to make it seem like they were heading back to Miami from the Bahamas. Funny thing is I never noticed it prior to reading it :) Guess it worked.

Damn, vice ruled the 80's! The show was responsible for setting a big fashion trend during that decade, especially among men, I was one of them. I'm glad to of been part of a wonderful decade and still am hopeful Don Johnson will one day change his mind and take part of a Miami Vice reunion.

"Evan" is also one of my favorite top episodes as well. Many people have their favorite episodes and it's funny how varied they are. I even read somewhere else where someone stated "Missing Hours" was their favorite (the one with implied "alien" involvement with James Brown). This is among my least favorite but I know of at least ONE person who actually loved it. Who knew . . .
