man i had a triple but sold it for a dual only because the triple is 150 watts and that was just too much power for what i need. If i played giant venues id go triple for sure but for me a dual suites me. i dont solo much. I'll admit i suck at leads..lol. im more a rythum player. I hope you get your mesa soon dude. There great amps.
@codeman5001 a musician must always accept criticism. you make this badass amp sound like a fucking peavey, or a crate. too much treble for my taste. and way way too much mid. i'd keep the treble at 9 o clock. the mid at 10 o clock. the bass 6. the gain at 12 o clock. and use the boss sd-1 or a another boss distortion.
@emoboi311 First of all, this is not me playing. this is ola, constructive criticism is one thing, saying this sounds like shit is another. also, whats wrong with peavey? crate sucks but peaveys are good amps. Im a mesa fan but not a tone snob. I'll say it again, put a vid up showing us what good tone is. Your entitled to your opinion but nobody here cares what that is.
@codeman5001 peavey's are too edgey with shitty tone. i will show you when i get a mesa watch. tone snob? i'm not a common guitarist who uses the same shitty tone everyone uses.
@emoboi311 ok man when you get a mesa you show me..lol. I waited along time for my dual rec. it was worth the wait. A little heads up about the mids. when you play live its is easy to get cut out of the mix. mids helps prevent that. thats why you hear the mids on this vid. in a live setting this is the tone you want. a little secret bedroom jammers dont know. oh..and when you say use a boss sd1 or another distortion pedal, this is not what that is. This is an overdrive pedal.
@codeman5001 yeah i know .....i wish you could do a request for me... solo with your neck pickup? i think the triple rectifier is better than the dual..
@GigglePantsMcGee dude I was thinking about doing that! but for some reason i get the feeling it's a bad idea... but it's a built in feature so... idk.
Do you have any idea if anyone makes a third party foot switch for the channel switcher?
@nooneimportant77 haha the rectifier manual is a super useful tool. They hint all the time that the "send" level can be used as another volume level throughout it. If I'm right you can saturate the preamp tubes with the channel level and saturate your power tubes with the overall output. You going to have to crank the send level way way way back....but it does the job.
As for the pedal, I don't know of anyone who does. What are you looking for...the stock pretty much has everything you need
@GigglePantsMcGee Hm alright thanks. I'll have to actually READ the manual instead of skipping around. I got it used at an amazing price but it didn't come with the pedal, and the pedal alone costs like $200 where I've found it.
sounds about how i expected...if you don't have a boost in there the lows go to crap and get way too loose to sound good, at least to me. this is why ENGL is better or a Mark is better.
keep you shit guitar, but sell your Amp to someone whos able to use it. You should take no Amp... that would show you how unclean it is and no one have to hear that unclean shit any longer....
For Fuck Sake Bro Your Playing is Awesome beyond anything I've ever heard on youtube.WOW I wonder what green Pedal is that on your Amphead ? Metal On.Maxx Masters NYC Rocker & Actor.
You can tell this killer tone isn't from the Rectifier, but rather coming from Ola's crotch. Look where the mic stand is placed. Ola, you really can make anything sound good!
How do you think this amp would do in a live environment? I'm completely stuck on which amp to get, and just want a comparison between this and the mark v on how they would do live. thanks!
im looking for a hi gain amp but i wouldnt be playing metal on it, more post punk/hardcore-ish kind of stuff, and i cant decide what to get. mesa, peavy,..ect, and im not necessarily looking for a head and cab because im going to use it to record, so a combo would do. do you have any suggestions? also im looking for something that is versatile
can you get this high of a gain on a dual or single rectifier? are they basically just lower powered than the triple? or is there a real difference in tone?
@shauncobra no real differrence in tone, at least between triple and dual. don't know about the single, but even the mini rectifier sounds very similar!
@shauncobra the pre-amp circuits are the same. but i've played both and the dual was far better. your choice though, they're both cool. you just need a boost badly for the triple to get it tight.
Hey Feardse! i noticed you use alot of bolt on gutiars, do you prefer bolt on over a solid neck through construction? my personal taste is neckthrough, something about it tickles my pickle :P
@StivO2005 the Solo, 3 channel heads sound a lot better. i played one yesterday with no boost and it got a decent enough amount of gain. and it was also at low volumes. these things are monsters at high volumes. but when low, then yes, a boost is needed. but as i said, the solo's are much better. nicer cleans too
i play metalcore like killswitch engage so what amp would be better? peavy 6505, peavy valveking, peavy xxx, mesa dual recto, mesa tri recto, or marshall jcm 800?
@fudd67sgto tri rec rapes all. marshalls are too classic rock sounding. the 6505 is over used, the XXX is awesome but not a tri rec and the valveking just sucks asshole. dual rec is awesome too but not quite as loud
XXX is probably your best shot. Tri Recto costs a ton, but Mark V is pretty much the best amp you can get. A mark IV is almost as good, though both are very expensive. XXX is my personal recomendation.

You should do a close up of the amp at the start of the video people can check out the EQ instead of having to deal with 854 people asking for it, just an Idea. great video man.
Dude your playing is amazing! Im trying to decide between a couple of amps and you def no what the hell your doin so im hopin u could help point me in the right direction. im a hard rock player and im looking for either a peavey 6505+, mesa dual recto, mesa trip recto, or a mesa mark V. let me know what u think and rock on man!
@guitargod445 thanks. all those amps you mention are great. It's more about how much money you have. the 6505 is the cheapest, but I would go with a dual rectifier or a Mark V
Definitely all differently voiced amps... The Rectifiers are a lot looser, with a very wet/warm sound to them. If you're gonna play them for metal, you HAVE to have a boost pedal for them. They have probably the hardest EQ to learn aside from the Mark series amps due to them having active EQ's. Mark series are a much tighter, mid based amp. They still have that Mesa wetness/warmness sound to them though. They don't carry the punch in the low end section as much as Rectifier would
@Bojiggles1214 I like to have a lot of mids on my sound. It beefs it up and adds a crunch. Kinda like the 90s - present Metallica tone. Beefy and chunky. Which one would you suggest? I don't wantto spend over $2500
Well if you're like me and like a mid-heavy based tone, then the Rectifier won't be up your alley, seeing as they're a generally scooped amp. 6505 has a pretty nice, pronounced mid range but the Mark series are probably more mid ranged based amps than the 6505. I think with what you've told me you would be happiest with the mark.
... would though. Very tight amps for precise single picking "metalcore'ish" riffs, and the clean channel on the Mark series amps totally rape the rectifiers. The 5150/6505 are usually perfect mediums for any metal player. They have the standard metal sound and excel in all categories. They're tight enough for money, have the low end punch you need, and have a mean, very pronounced mid-range as well. Cleans are God-awful though. I would recommend using a boost as well.
hey man!!! love your vids!!! btw just had a quick question, i just bought a dual rec. and i noticed u aren't using a noise gate... do you not need one? lotta ppl use a decimator but that wasnt in your signal chain, so would this amp be ok without a noise gate? anyone is free to answer that has sufficient experience but i would prefer an Ola answer...
I dont understand how you get that insane chunky tight sound with every amp you play. At 0:28, when you pick the low E string it sounds fucking extremely fat and chunky. I don't get that, does it have anything to do with String Gauge? Because you get that kind of sound with all of your guitars, and most of the amps.
@Dimeist don't scoop the mids, turn the gain down... wayy down like to 4 or 5 and then use a tube screamer or better a maxon OD and just turn the level all the way up for a clean boost but no distortion... at least it seems to me thats how he does is... just a thought tho, cheers man!
I really dig these videos you're doing. I think you do the rest of us a great service by demoing all these amps and letting us know what they sound like (or can sound like).
By the way, what gauge of strings do you have on the RG2120?
Hi, your videos convinced me to buy mesa so I've just bough a triple rec, now i'm waiting for an 8 Ohm Hot Plate ( and thinkin' about buy the maxon, your rhythmic tone are amazing..).
Could you please tell me the settings of output and master of the head and settings of Hot Plate that u usually use? Thank you!
Thank You for taking that off :-) I don't wan't to mix music & God just I was a Paramedic for 25 years and I have seen people that were great musicians & athletes have a Stroke and lose the ability to move one side of their body. No matter how long I practice I will NEVER be as good as Beck, Page, Clapton. They have a gift. Look at Bach, he wrote a concherto (spelling) at 3 or 4, that's not practice. :-) OK, enough of that stuff. What is your opinion of the Zoom HT4 for home use?Have a good one
Before I saw this video, i didn't like rectifiers, i thought they were to bassy, but now I see the beauty, if you will, of the tone, and realize this is the only amp for me, starting to save up as we speak. Thanks, btw :)
I love your playing and videos but don't really think the comment after Subscribe is appropriate. Remember God gave you every bit of talent you have and he can take it away at a moments notice. Just a thought :-) Still love your playing :-)
Dude, what does actually the silicone diodes do? I mean do they bypass the tube or something and turn the amp into a solid state amp? Thank you for answering :D And btw the recto tone is crushing as always!
@LegoBen That's because it's an old school two channel recto. The ones you are talking about (and ones like what I have) are the three channel versions. I've never got to play through a two channel but supposedly they slay the newer 3 channel versions.
@fearedse i hold a pick like that too, i think it's easier to do alternate picking.... all my friends who play guitar make fun of it saying it's spakked up :'( I'll show them :@

They still have that Mesa wetness/warmness sound to them though. They don't carry the punch in the low end section as much as Rectifier would
Bojiggles1214 8 months ago
@Bojiggles1214 Would a Mark series amp or a Dual Rectifier be better for playing 80s and 90s rock/ Metal. Like Pantera, Slayer and Metallica
Abyssvx 7 months ago
@Abyssvx
I think you would be happier with a Mark series amp.
Bojiggles1214 7 months ago
@Bojiggles1214 I like to have a lot of mids on my sound. It beefs it up and adds a crunch. Kinda like the 90s - present Metallica tone. Beefy and chunky. Which one would you suggest? I don't wantto spend over $2500
Abyssvx 7 months ago
@Abyssvx
Bojiggles1214 7 months ago
... would though.

Thanks!!!
guitarsbunch347 8 months ago
I dont understand how you get that insane chunky tight sound with every amp you play. At 0:28, when you pick the low E string it sounds fucking extremely fat and chunky. I don't get that, does it have anything to do with String Gauge? Because you get that kind of sound with all of your guitars, and most of the amps.
:-D
Dimeist 8 months ago
@Dimeist don't scoop the mids, turn the gain down... wayy down like to 4 or 5 and then use a tube screamer or better a maxon OD and just turn the level all the way up for a clean boost but no distortion... at least it seems to me thats how he does is... just a thought tho, cheers man!
guitarsbunch347 8 months ago
@guitarsbunch347 Yeah, but he gets that tone on his ENGL savage videos aswell, where he didnt use a ts/overdrive. I'll try that though.

I really dig these videos you're doing. I think you do the rest of us a great service by demoing all these amps and letting us know what they sound like (or can sound like).
By the way, what gauge of strings do you have on the RG2120?
raskolnikov1873 9 months ago

What is your opinion of the Zoom HT4 for home use?Have a good one
hawg427 9 months ago
@wannagotopopeyes well it works for its purpose, but still the speaker cones will move less so it doesn't completely do the amp justice.

NICE !!!
looks like you need a longer patch cable though
sonyskymaster 9 months ago
Recto's sound horrid without a boost. and when you crank em. but there is a middle ground with the boost that sounds very tasty. great job

I would not give god any credit though for my playing. In Sweden we practice to get good at what we do.

Dude, what does actually the silicone diodes do? I mean do they bypass the tube or something and turn the amp into a solid state amp? Thank you for answering :D And btw the recto tone is crushing as always!

is this double tracked ?
TechcoreIsSexy 9 months ago
Title is Triple but this is single recto :/
ClosedUnsink 9 months ago
@ClosedUnsink But the amp says "Triple" on it.. :|
I know what you mean though, the knob layout doesn't look like a triple.
LegoBen 9 months ago
@LegoBen That's because it's an old school two channel recto. The ones you are talking about (and ones like what I have) are the three channel versions. I've never got to play through a two channel but supposedly they slay the newer 3 channel versions.
jboner668 9 months ago
@ClosedUnsink You're retarded. It says TRIPLE on the amp...

@ClosedUnsink
U can see "Triple Rectifier Solo Head" on the amp.

@mediaflowstudio there is no wrong way, but then I look more like a retard holding the pick like that
fearedse 9 months ago 10
@fearedse i hold a pick like that too, i think it's easier to do alternate picking.... all my friends who play guitar make fun of it saying it's spakked up :'( I'll show them :@
badmonkey2082 9 months ago
@mediaflowstudio Ola doesn't give a fuck, he can cut his pick in half, fold it.
Melt it together with a lighter.
Then lube his fingers with some bitch cream while holding the pick backwards AND STILL.... be awesome !
