  • Do these guys have recorded music to buy or download? and if so, what's the name of their band?

  • Victor Wooten has played with a number of bands (Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Vital Tech Tones, the Chick Corea Elektric Band and SMV). He has a number of solo works out there. Reggie has less material out, but he has played on some of Victor's albums (Palmystery, Yin-Yang, Soul Circus etc). Hope that helps.

  • poor squier....

  • haha 2:20 sounds like a level from bomberman 64

  • why is he playin a SQUIER?

  • Don't hate on squiers, they're good basses

  • That's a Fodera bass, He meant Reggie's guitar. Squiers are okay guitars in my opinion, pretty cheap, so I see his point. However, the music comes not from the instrument, but from the self.

  • Yeah, there are some japanese squiers which are quiet good. And his Squier sounds amazing so I think he uses a very good squier!

  • Yep, totally good. I don't think any another guitar would make him sound better. Reggie and Vic are gods compared to the average musician.

  • man i love tht groove at 2:11. i wish tht was a song i could download... they r just too good

  • you can download it - free studio manager. just dL'ed it myself

  • I use the same thing. Excellent program.

  • awesome : )

  • sounded like the mahavishnu for a while 2:59

  • 1:49 what the fuck

  • 8:53 OWNED

  • i'm going to quit playing bass now! there is no point after that. lol

  • Aw how so? That is a perfect reason to start playing bass! You are the only one in your way of being better than that :P

  • wow i cant belive the shorter version of this has so many more views this is GODLEY

  • 2:00 - 2:12 Great !!

  • Reggie sounds like crap in the funk-off. Guitar is not meant to be played like that, but god damn his tapping is amazing at the beginning.

  • reggie's guitar sounds unique it's time to stop considering somebody as a great guitarist just because he plays just like everybody else but faster.Open your minds metal heads of the stone age

  • His tapping was very pretty.

But you tell me where it says you cannot play slap guitar ;)

  • I think this is "Vulcan worlds" by Stanley Clark

or at least a version of it.

    Sounds like it.

    Fun JAm!

  • Definitely sounds like Vulcan Worlds.

  • Damn reggie's tremolo picking is downright inhuman!

  • hes amazing, but im not digging the pop/slapping. its real technical, and i can see it being a bit more difficult to do than on a bass, but...nah

  • This is "Song to John" by Stanley Clarke, Al Di Meola, And Jean Luc Ponty from the acoustic album!

  • yes they were

    dam these guys are awesome

  • were all wootens born with the ability to slow down time?

  • If I were a bass string, I would consider being popped by the index finger of Victor Wooten the most honorable of deaths.

  • Victor is extremely talented, but he has the weirdest choice in clothes

  • He's big into comic books

  • damn the beginning sounds nice

  • i liked to see people say regi sucks after that

  • does reggie play a squier?

  • No, Victor even mentions it's a Strat.

  • victor said that reggie was playing a japanese fender strat. But in the beggining it seemed to be a squier

  • This is from Bass Day '98. It's on C.D. Seen him 4 times. Always good. As cool as they are talented. Reggie went backstage and came back out with his orange Kramer bodied homemade guitar, handed it to my and said "Here, play it for a bit". all I did was ask him if he still used it live. Look up that guitar and what all he has done to it. Amazeing!!

  • it'd be like getting a massage from a very mad russian woman haha

  • I know this is YouTube, but damn, I feel like I should be paying to see that! I love how Victor gives props to those who came before him too. He honors Stanley Clarke in his attack and phrasing. Vulcan Worlds is one of my favorite RTF songs and my g-d did they do it justice. Also for being one of the best bass players that has ever lived, Victor is one laid back dude.

    THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!

  • That is talent... i wish i cud even imagine doin somethin like that

  • Victor's part at 8:06 is some of the funkiest bass playing ever. Gotta love it.

  • Thats part of a song,

The song is called: Pleasure - Glide,

    It's real nice

  • This is beyond words. Can't imagine what they were like as kids...DAMN! Gotta post this on my Facebook wall for everyone to check out....Whew

  • i mean 9:07

  • 9:11 - He messes up and recovers

  • the wooten brothers both are extremely good musicians

  • there is no winner imo... both these guys are very original and aproach their art with nothing held back. i have never ever heard anything that you could really compare these guys against, and if you were gonna try, they would own who ever you were gonna compare against lol. reggie didnt really open the bag o tricks, he laid back a lil.

  • 1:01 vic is jellous!

  • Bass won.

I mean, reggie isn't bad, it's just... Goddamn that bass was awesome.

  • you have to listen to the notes Regi's not playing ;)

  • these two boys can play faster than most people can hear haha the bas dives that start at 08:55 sound unbelievable

  • This shit rocks

  • xDxDxD "its fake" "how the fuck is this fake you idiot" "its fake"

sry i had to laugh. :>

regi is a talented good guitarist but i think hes slapping too much. it doesnt always sound good.. victor is in my opinion the yngwie malmsteen under the bass players. *_*

  • lol i like this contains content from an instructional drum dvd!!

  • how the fuck is this fake you idiot

  • i have no doubt reggie is an amazing guitarist but i think what he's doing is basically what it sounds like when a cat dies

  • hah lol

  • I was at this show... They smashed this show... JD Blair the drummer had a decent solo too....

  • great brothers + great groove = great sound

  • u preto é fei mais toka bem um dia vo tirar um x1 com ele!!!!

  • uhm... i think he said THUMP off.....not FUNK off.

  • dear god, i have never seen something like that!

    Fantastic, more then fantastic!!!!

    :)))

  • victor le dio pesto

  • when in doubt, just smack the guitar

  • clash of titans

  • holy crap 4:39 thats the sickest transaction i have ever heard. thousands of hours of practice and jammin pays off. thanks for post

  • at 1.02 the look on victor's face

  • such skill...my eyes...they're bleeding :O

  • so much talent on one stage... i love them

  • magical atmosphere at the beginning! Great regi!

  • lol at 1:02 the look on victors face says 'great...here we go again' haha. amazing playing by both guys. If anyone has any tabs (guitar or bass) and that then please let me know. ta.

  • haahaha i totally got too

  • I think the look on his face says something more like, "Yeah, yeah. I'm still gonna kick your butt."

  • this is just fucking amazing, no need for any more comments

  • Does any one have the TABS? And or wristbands

  • it's a dampener ,keeps the sound clean.

  • I play bass, and when i tap, it doesn't sound right. A different note plays on the lower notes, not where the pickup is. it just sounds bad. I hit the notes with accuracy and strength, but it still doesn't sound right. Someone help me. Is it my bass, or something i am doing?

  • well if you are playing acoustically it isnt completely fixable or at least i haven't found a way yet, but when playing through an amp you can't hear the sound coming out of the lower part of the neck so you aren't doing anything wrong really...

  • It sounds like your intonation. Play your 12th fret on a string then play the 12th fret harmonic and see if there the same note. If there a little off then that's your problem...and unless your an expert I suggest you take it to one to be tuned. You can try changing the bow of your neck and the height of the bridge yourself but it takes forever and you gotta know exactly what you want. The lower the better (without fret buzz) I would assume if your tapping.

  • I just noticed that reggie's using a squier

  • I think muting but not sure really.

  • im just wondering what reggie uses the sweatbands on his fretboard for

  • To keep all the extra noise away. Near the Head of the guitar where the pegs are there are extra strings not connected to the fretboard. If you put a head band it keeps that noise away.

  • I think its to make the open strings sound a certain note

  • my mind has just been blown

  • lol, i don't think guitars are meant to be played this way, but fuck me... great ;)

  • i really love victors sound...i would really kill to get that kinda of sound out of my fender p...any suggestions?

  • get a j haha

  • ALTER SCHWEDE

  • oh wow i cant believe there trio jamming vulcan worlds thats beast and btw does anyone know if thats futureman playing drums i cant tell theres no good shots

  • How long ago was this battle?

  • maybe 1998

  • both of them or absoloutely amazing. I wish I could steal victors hands and use them on my bass. I would probably pay him to play my bass. Look at his face at 7:02 he looks like he has been possesed. That palm sliding sounds s o cool.

  • 4:37 is AMAZING COMPLETLY AMAZING.

EVERY 1 SHULD LISTEN TO IT.

  • 07:57 what is that song called? i really wanna know........... great vid

  • Rollercoaster :)

  • im trying to search it but i cant find it can u help me?

  • /watch?v=aBkVV9xxCHE there you go

    Ohio Players - Love Rollercoaster

  • BTW for anyone whose curious, the grove which starts at 2:10 that they jam around before the Thump-off is based on 'vulcan worlds' by Return to Forever. Check it out for a bass-history lesson.

  • The bands on the guitar kill the sustain, and basically prevent the upper side of the string from vibrating. If you tap the string, you create 2 notes, one for the side of the string below reggie's fingers, (the note he wants), and one for the portion of the string above his fingers (essentially the upside down, when considering the nut and head as the "bottom" of the string for this purpose). This 2nd note is undesirable.

And it's a strat. He says so himself at 5:35

  • There's also the unwanted movement of the adjacent strings to the one intended to be played. If you hammer or pull off on one string, you're likely to accidentally pluck others...

  • in the beginning Reggie kinda plays something off

of a Mario game. kinda sounds like it.

  • Yeah kinda, but I think his name is spelled Regi, not Reggie. I'm not too sure though...

  • I love that groove at 8:13...

  • How come ther are som many fools who think to knlow one thing about anything these guys are doing. Who else could do any of this stuff?

  • I just came.

  • Man this is amazing. did anybody notice reggie hit his plectrum flying at 2:03? lol. peace

  • Reggie Wooten is fucking good!

  • red hot chilli peppers - rollor coaster of love

  • its Ohio Singers, Love Rollercoaster! RHCP covered it!

  • it's ohio players...

  • thats right. good save man. haha

  • 7:55, i really know this song, but.. I can't fukin' remember the name.

    Shit.

  • love rollercoaster

  • Yeeeeeah men thx ya!

  • holy shit this should be censored by how violent this is

  • any1 know wut those bands are on the guitar neck?

  • I'm pretty sure they are to kill the sustain

  • you cant say that reggie isnt unique. but i think victor just has the edge on reggie, onli because i think their style suits the bass more than the guitar

  • you must be a bass player lol

  • i kinda agree. Slap doesn't work very well. Now, had reggie been playing some funky grooves, and groovy riffs, the situation would have turned out much better.

  • I think there both very well talented

And both of them in my eyes are

    Both equally Talented

  • Holy shit, Victor Wooten got FAT.

That being said, he's a God.

  • Realmente.. sem condição esses.. dois... Muito bons.....Victor.. the best...

  • victors better than reggie

  • yeah its a squire ^^ lol

sax them both playing together live like a year ago ^^

  • Somebody help me contact Victor Wooten, check my web and the project. Please pass this on.

    John M. Hamilton

  • is that a Squier?!!!

  • it is...

  • Hey that's "Vulcan Worlds" by Return to Forever they're playing. Awesome :D

  • BEST VIDEO EVER!

  • These guys are aliens and should be on the x-files! There was so much going on in this clip; I love the start form Reggie, and the muffled strings idea with hair ties (he is the only one I have seen do this) , but the part when Reggie stops thumping arpeggios and then bursts into the riff of 'Roller coaster' then Victor comes in with a killer riff after that has funk bass crawling on its knees... a true Musicians feast of raw talent.

  • drum king really dnt seem to know too much about victor wooten.

nt in a negative way but.

victor wooten is one of the best bass plyers in the world and hes already been places aand places and places.

  • does anybody else think that guitar slapping sounded crap?

slapping should be left to the bass

  • Considering how hard it is to slap a guitar that was fucking awesome!

  • agreed

  • i think victor and reggie should go on time warp, i want to see their hands when they play at least

  • i dont think anybody is noticing how reggie is murdering that guitar.lol

  • that victor guy is pretty good at bass. he has alot of potential. he could go places.

  • haha I hope you are joking

  • drumking victor is one of the top bass players in the world

  • he has been places. he's PRO. :D

  • dude he has gone places.......

  • LMAO

  • What song are they playing in the start?

  • victor rules!

  • wow this vidio is disgusting , i think that reggies headband things are to prevent the strings from buzzing and ringing out so he doesnt have to be so technical

  • 8:50 HOW THE HELL!!!! is he doing that!?!?!

  • Dunno, but it's freaking awesome anyways! There will never be another bass player as good as wooten.

  • Drum Pattern and Slides on the bass...

  • this is possiblely the best video on the internet

  • Reggie is amazing!

  • are those wrist bands around the neck?

  • This Makes Me Wanna Watch SeinFeld O.O

  • HAAHAHA dont it?

  • I just think that, while woods, neck styles, and pickups are important, the most important thing is skill, and when you get right down to it, there's crappy players playing 10,000 dollar guitars, and there's amazing players (Like Reggie) who play crappy instruments (Like the Squire Reggie's playing)

  • it really does not matter what guitar or bass your playing it really really matters down tot he pick ups and the players

  • actually the type of woods used effect the sound and set necks vs bolt on necks make a diffrent sound.

  • yeah that helps but i mean you dont need a $4000 guitar to have a good sound

  • no ur completely right, you DONT need to spend 4000 and neither does anyone. but mahogany isnt that expensive, and its a really good quality wood. i love the thickness and the sustain of a mahogany body with a set neck. i.e. gibson!!!

  • oh yes i love mahogany i had a bass a year or so back that was stolen but was the best bass i ever had it was mahogany i love the wood it has the best sustain in it and gies it such a warm deep tone i love it

  • word!

  • At 8:20, the guitar work is insane.

    = P

  • just cause it's a squire neck doesnt mean it's a squire, even if it is im sure he has a serious amp and new pickups :P but yea, if ya suck yer gonna suck just as much on a squire as on a prs custom

  • Vic says so himself, it's a Japanese made Fender Strat (that Reg is playing), ("very cool, he says")

    See 5:35

  • wooooaaaahh...some major fuck goin down right myah....regis arm looks fucked when he plays the roller coaster of love riff lol a lil after 7:55

  • i no its weird. but he does get sum pretty decent speed on it though. sounds good to. i wish i could play like that lol. S/

  • hes playing a squire wtf

  • idiot its a fuckin strat..if it was a squire it would sound like fuckin shit
