I'm actually looking forward for a reboot. I loved the first movie they fucked up the second. But all this time later with better technology/FX I think they could do the justice to MK that wasnt possible back in the 90's. New actors & fresh faces are needed to focus the move on although some cameos from the original cast would be a good homage to the original movie. I think that the Tekken movie is on par with Annihilation it was terrible have u seen it? cheesy as fuck lol.
@joeinferno23 I have been made aware a while back now, that MK devastation is not going to happen and that warner bros is going to be doing a web series based on that 8 min trailer that was released not to long ago entitled (MK rebirth). but I'll be keeping this video on my page as a bit of MK history on what could've happened.

I was truly impressed with that 7 minute clip, I hope that it works out, by the looks of it the mysticism seems to be gone, and it looks like its going to be a serious martial arts drama, although i think they can cleverly weave the mysticism in as a plot twist.

how can johnny cage be returning? in the horrible 2nd movie, cage was killed like 5 minutes into the movie. yea i know that johnny cage was killed in the third game but him dying in the second movie was ridiculous. plus this movie should have a longer role for scorpion as well as sub-zero.
Annihilation was an awesome sequel. Jesus christ what is it with you people? You guys ask for way too fucking much. I mean come on. I admit the re casting was bad the movie covered a lot of ground perfectly. Imagine if they made it focusing only on 2 and then the next sequel on 3 and so on. Do you really think it would make a difference? Not really.

Jason Scott Lee is absolutely awesome as an actor. Unfortunately he is very underrated. I just don't understand when actors like him aren't more appreciated, and how in the world after the movie Soldier or Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, he doesn't have more big budget movies.

It's not coming out this year, at the time i made this video, the announced release date was 2010 on IMDB, but unfortunatley its now been further postponed to 2013, who knows it'll probably never get made but i still remain hopeful.

the idea of a remake is probably better due to the fact that now the movie is almost more than 15 years old. New actors should reprise the roles but also the actors from the originals should make a cameo. the story better than the first and a little bit more gore along with todays special effects will make a killer remake.

Their worst mistake was recasting all but "2" of the returning star and then trying to play it off as the same people. It's not like it was a "reboot" like seems to be the current fad in movies. Originally, the fad was to do prequels, now it's reboots. So, with that said, why would you change 90% of the characters and pretend all is well. Yea. right. -Now on reboots? Lets hope for a reboot of Big Trouble in Little China.. If you haven't seen it you are missing a move that kicks MK's butt.
@CRITTERBUSTERS I agree, a sequel would be better.. but they killed all the main villians.. as well as.. the original actors have aged a lot since the making of the movie. 20+ years.. and they would have to replace all of them in the sequel.. Unfortuantly the only part they even came close to leaving it open for a sequel was the big furry orange creature crawling up the back of the guys 18 wheeler.. Whats the point, Mortal Kombats dead, its been dead for ages, if its gotten to the point that their unable to make a decent MK game, how are they gonna make a decent new movie. I remember enjoying the first movie mostly coz it came out at the same time i was playing the game on my snes. "What went wrong with MK - Annihilation...was 'studio' control' issues conflicting over the main producer's sight and vision. The studio interfered and dominated key decisions. Even so...The producer did edit a version of the movie that was MUCH better than what you saw. Again, the studio overruled...and it bombed. That's life in Hollywood.

The (first) film was good. It was well cast. The second was terrible. They killed the franchise with the horrible sequel. They should have made an excellent follow up or took a break and rebooted the series with a great director, plot, etc. An R Rating could impress visually, though the first film worked well without having gore. I'd be interested to see a great reboot whether PG-13 or R, long as the R isn't shock over quality. Strong atmosphere, mood, and surreal elements are important too!

Like he said, it stayed VERY close to the story of the first game, and they got all the characters right.

i look a lot to find some info about the third movie because i wait a couple of years for this one and i found from Ed boon(MK creator) forum/twitter that the movie was canceled at 2006 (thanks to Lawrence Kasanofft) but now 2010 with WB own Midway and not just a bankruptcy company they said that they will make a remake and not a third movie, i believe they will do some great job in this one, even better from the 1st one but the 1st was epic and i was waiting for something new and not a remake.
if they make a new film they should make the characters with the costumes from deadly alliance and deception those costumes were more realistic in my opinion .....oh and if they choose to put baraka in the movie i hope they dnt fuk him up lol
Agreed. I thought Reptile would of put up more of a fight, but I guess that bicycle kick put um in his place. MK:A made no sense with the 3 reptiles. I have no idea what was up with that.
@DCX6000 It is kinda BS but there are a whole race of "reptiles" in the games called Zaterrans. Reptile just is one of them. Same with Baraka who is one of many Tarkata. To not explain any of that in the movie or like say why Reptile was any different or something is just lazy moviemaking.
It was pointless them saying that Reptile, Chameleon and Khameleon were the last of their race they are Saurian, but native to the land Zaterra. MK was making it seem like they were the only ones left when indeed 3 reptiles were alive in MK:A and 2 female Saurians were on MK Conquest. But I guess there race gets magically revived. Typical MK plot. lol

They didn't say his name in the movie, considering he was only in it for about 30 seconds. He wasn't even credited either, probably due to his 30 second cameo. Mortal Kombat websites stated that it was Noob, but otherwise, you would have thought it was a random black ninja.
Well if Noob is Sub-Zero idk why'd he appear out of Ermac. I'm guessing Ermac used him to fight since he was a collection of souls that died in the wars. I'd definitely see this movie though. Well if it ever comes out.
Yeah that was an epic fail out of all the new characters they introduced the only one they got spot on was JAX he was perect. WHERE WAS KINTARO? why was the man that played Shao Kahn a Midget? Even though Sheeva wasn't supposed to be their why didn't she along with RAIN get to fight. Why was Robot Smoke introduced before His Own Human form which was later captured and turned into a cybernetic form of himself? Why? Why? WHY?
Actually, I didn't like Jax either. I mean, he wasn't annoying to watch like some of the other characters, but I wouldn't necessarily say he was perfect. The biggest thing I had with Jax was his lines in the movie. He was portrayed as a stereotypical black guy. Jax is a part of the Special Forces. I don't think he should be saying things like "I don't even know these dudes!" or "Mr. Bad Attiude back there? you want us to go and check out his crib?"
Kintaro was actually not featured in ANY other Mortal Kombat media outside of the games. Why? I don't know.
Shao Kahn's height didn't bother me so much. It was mainly his cheesy lines, and how would say some words, pause, then say some more. He barely wore his armor in the film and only used his Hammer once to smack some alter and kill Rain.
Sheeva actually had planned fights in the movie but they all got cut out.
Smoke, well, I guess they chose to ignore his origin of being converted.
Well the second Movie sucked some serious ass and The Kung Lao that is in mortal Kombat conquest is infact The Great Kung Lao their are two of them you know. SO the fact that their were TWO reptiles in Mortal Kombat conquest made sense as it took place well over 500 Years ago
@DCX6000 Mortal Kombat conquest took place in the past around the time of the original Kung Lao if I do recall and what happened in MK Annihilation isn't cannot, thankfully lol. I did like Annihilation though, I just wished they would have reduced the ammount of characters and cleaned up the plot.

The plot in mk3 will be about SHINOOK and QUAN CHI( that all white bald guy from Mortal kombat 4).
The plot will be shinook giving quan chi a fake amulet, and sub zero will be the new liu kang(meaning sub zero will be the new star/hero. Basically it will leave off from mk:annihilation....Which the only thing i can think of is using mk4's plot. Because mk:A was a mixture of mk2 and mk3.

True. Now I didn't like MK: A, but I did enjoy the fighting sequence between Smoke and Liu Kang, that was done well. I didn't like the character changes, the plot, (some) wardrobes or the effects. Mortal Kombat was awesome. I would of never became fan of MK if it wasn't for that movie. Deception's intro was bad ass. If MK 3 does well, they should definitely turn that opening into a movie.
Do you realize that Quan Chi gave Shinnok the fake amulet in Mortal Kombat: Sub Zero Mythologies and Shinnok discovering it was fake in Mortal Kombat 4? If what you said is true, then the creators just made another contradictory that would have to be filled by a undiscovered plot twist or something. At one point, I heard that they were going to make the next one a prequel to the first movie where it centers around Sub-Zero, which means that it would be like that adventure game called MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero where you play only as Sub-Zero.
I agree that Bridgette Wilson was a great pick for Sonya. She still looks as good as she did when she played the role as well. I just wonder if she could still pull off a handstand. That being said, age is a concern for actors who may come back. Linden Ashby may be too old to play the role of a young, carefree movie star now. Christopher Lambert's age isn't as big of a concern since Rayden didn't take part in any fights in the 1st film. I hope Musetta Vander comes back as Sindel. She's gorgeous.
I remember when i used to play the MK video games on x-box, one of the games i think deadly alliance had quan chi and sahng sun were like partners. So maybe that'll be part of the movie.
Robin Shou, cary tagawa and christopher lambert played perfectly roles of their characters in MK1. it was very frustrating that christopher lambert was replaced in MK2, because i think he clearly nailed the role of raiden in MK1. i rly hope all 3 of them come back. sonya too did a great job, but i think she will return for sure.
i would love to see cage back , but like others are saying , he got killed in mk2, but im thinkin after mk2 raiden got summoned and became an elder god, maybe has has consulted with the other gods and they agreed for cage to have a second chance ? , also, i hope there will be new characters such as frost frm mortal kombat deadly allience video game and others, sub zeor has always been my fave, im hoping tht maybe a movie of sub zero himself will come in the future :) peace out mk fans <3
By street fighter do you mean Street Fighter Legend of Chun Li? Well their done filming that So I think Robin Shou will be able to reprise his role. I don't know for the rest but Chris Casamassa (How played Scorpion in the first film) and Linden Ashby have confirmed that they will reprise their roles.
Well i respect your opinion as we are all entitled to one, but the first MK movie worked just fine for me, at least it had all the characters and followed the storyline closely and had great fight scenes as well as most of the characters doing their special moves, but yeah if it had the blood it would've been even better, but considering how bad videogame based movies have been, the first MK movie was at least entertaining.

I dunno. The first mortal kombat didnt necessarily end with any particular finality but Annihiliation did do a REALLY good job of SNAPPING it off. MK 2 made a ton of acting substitutions and pissed all over everything the first movie did right.
The notion of a new movie featuring Raiden and johnny cage as they were the first time appeals to me, because it is a clear nod to the quality of the first movie, but i cant imagine a way that you get from 1 to 2 to 3 without sodding ALL over 1 and 2

they released a trailer, linden ashby never got his role back, which was disappointing, because he suited the role completely. the only one who will reprise his rolse will be Chris Cassamassa who will be Scorpion again. but thats it. It's not coming out this year, at the time i made this video, the announced release date was 2010 on IMDB, but unfortunatley its now been further postponed to 2013, who knows it'll probably never get made but i still remain hopeful.

the idea of a remake is probably better due to the fact that now the movie is almost more than 15 years old. New actors should reprise the roles but also the actors from the originals should make a cameo. the story better than the first and a little bit more gore along with todays special effects will make a killer remake.

Their worst mistake was recasting all but "2" of the returning star and then trying to play it off as the same people. It's not like it was a "reboot" like seems to be the current fad in movies. Originally, the fad was to do prequels, now it's reboots. So, with that said, why would you change 90% of the characters and pretend all is well. Yea. right. -Now on reboots? Lets hope for a reboot of Big Trouble in Little China.. If you haven't seen it you are missing a move that kicks MK's butt.

Whats the point, Mortal Kombats dead, its been dead for ages, if its gotten to the point that their unable to make a decent MK game, how are they gonna make a decent new movie. "What went wrong with MK - Annihilation...was 'studio' control' issues conflicting over the main producer's sight and vision. The studio interfered and dominated key decisions. Even so...The producer did edit a version of the movie that was MUCH better than what you saw. Again, the studio overruled...and it bombed. That's life in Hollywood.

The (first) film was good. It was well cast. The second was terrible. They killed the franchise with the horrible sequel. They should have made an excellent follow up or took a break and rebooted the series with a great director, plot, etc. An R Rating could impress visually, though the first film worked well without having gore. I'd be interested to see a great reboot whether PG-13 or R, long as the R isn't shock over quality. Strong atmosphere, mood, and surreal elements are important too!

Like he said, it stayed VERY close to the story of the first game, and they got all the characters right.
It was a lot better than the DOOM movie, House of The Dead, and a few other video game movies.

i look a lot to find some info about the third movie because i wait a couple of years for this one and i found from Ed boon(MK creator) forum/twitter that the movie was canceled at 2006 (thanks to Lawrence Kasanofft) but now 2010 with WB own Midway and not just a bankruptcy company they said that they will make a remake and not a third movie, i believe they will do some great job in this one, even better from the 1st one but the 1st was epic and i was waiting for something new and not a remake.

They didn't say his name in the movie, considering he was only in it for about 30 seconds. He wasn't even credited either, probably due to his 30 second cameo. Mortal Kombat websites stated that it was Noob, but otherwise, you would have thought it was a random black ninja.

Well, at the time of making Annihilation, Noob had not been revealed to be the original Sub-Zero yet.
It wasn't until the game, Mortal Kombat Deception, that came out much later, that we first discovered that Noob was the original Sub-Zero.
I don't know why Noob would spawn from Ermac either. That was probably one of the MANY reasons Annihilation bombed.

Actually, I didn't like Jax either. I mean, he wasn't annoying to watch like some of the other characters, but I wouldn't necessarily say he was perfect. The biggest thing I had with Jax was his lines in the movie. He was portrayed as a stereotypical black guy. Jax is a part of the Special Forces. I don't think he should be saying things like "I don't even know these dudes!" or "Mr. Bad Attiude back there? you want us to go and check out his crib?"

Kintaro was actually not featured in ANY other Mortal Kombat media outside of the games. Why? I don't know.
Shao Kahn's height didn't bother me so much. It was mainly his cheesy lines, and how would say some words, pause, then say some more. He barely wore his armor in the film and only used his Hammer once to smack some alter and kill Rain.
Sheeva actually had planned fights in the movie but they all got cut out.
Smoke, well, I guess they chose to ignore his origin of being converted.

The plot in mk3 will be about SHINOOK and QUAN CHI( that all white bald guy from Mortal kombat 4).
The plot will be shinook giving quan chi a fake amulet, and sub zero will be the new liu kang(meaning sub zero will be the new star/hero. Basically it will leave off from mk:annihilation....Which the only thing i can think of is using mk4's plot. Because mk:A was a mixture of mk2 and mk3.

True. Now I didn't like MK: A, but I did enjoy the fighting sequence between Smoke and Liu Kang, that was done well. I didn't like the character changes, the plot, (some) wardrobes or the effects. Mortal Kombat was awesome. I would of never became fan of MK if it wasn't for that movie. Deception's intro was bad ass. If MK 3 does well, they should definitely turn that opening into a movie.

I agree that Bridgette Wilson was a great pick for Sonya. She still looks as good as she did when she played the role as well. I just wonder if she could still pull off a handstand. That being said, age is a concern for actors who may come back. Linden Ashby may be too old to play the role of a young, carefree movie star now. Christopher Lambert's age isn't as big of a concern since Rayden didn't take part in any fights in the 1st film. I hope Musetta Vander comes back as Sindel. She's gorgeous.

I remember when i used to play the MK video games on x-box, one of the games i think deadly alliance had quan chi and sahng sun were like partners. So maybe that'll be part of the movie.

Robin Shou, cary tagawa and christopher lambert played perfectly roles of their characters in MK1. it was very frustrating that christopher lambert was replaced in MK2, because i think he clearly nailed the role of raiden in MK1. i rly hope all 3 of them come back. sonya too did a great job, but i think she will return for sure.

i would love to see cage back , but like others are saying , he got killed in mk2, but im thinkin after mk2 raiden got summoned and became an elder god, maybe has has consulted with the other gods and they agreed for cage to have a second chance ? , also, i hope there will be new characters such as frost frm mortal kombat deadly allience video game and others, sub zeor has always been my fave, im hoping tht maybe a movie of sub zero himself will come in the future :) peace out mk fans <3

By street fighter do you mean Street Fighter Legend of Chun Li? Well their done filming that So I think Robin Shou will be able to reprise his role. I don't know for the rest but Chris Casamassa (How played Scorpion in the first film) and Linden Ashby have confirmed that they will reprise their roles.

Well i respect your opinion as we are all entitled to one, but the first MK movie worked just fine for me, at least it had all the characters and followed the storyline closely and had great fight scenes as well as most of the characters doing their special moves, but yeah if it had the blood it would've been even better, but considering how bad videogame based movies have been, the first MK movie was at least entertaining.

Well the 2nd one was pretty bad i mean lui kang didnt even use his bicyle kick =/ if tsang tsung is comming back their could be another possible reason, he could have been brought back to life by the elder gods or their is probobly gonna be a new character that does "cool stuff". I really do hope it is true that their is gonna be another movie but i hope its not crappy as mk 2 and is probobly gonna be mind blowing like friggen new moon that made 80 million in 1 day

I'd like them to just ignore Annihilation because it was such an atrocious film. Can't see Bridgette Wilson-Sampras returning though, she's 36 now and does mostly romcoms, but it would be great.

I dunno. The first mortal kombat didnt necessarily end with any particular finality but Annihiliation did do a REALLY good job of SNAPPING it off. MK 2 made a ton of acting substitutions and pissed all over everything the first movie did right.
The notion of a new movie featuring Raiden and johnny cage as they were the first time appeals to me, because it is a clear nod to the quality of the first movie, but i cant imagine a way that you get from 1 to 2 to 3 without sodding ALL over 1 and 2

'Mortal Kombat' was also the only video game movie adaptation that actually stuck to the plot & so-on, such as 'Super Mario Bros.: The Movie', which was complete bull-shit.

I agree Cary Tagawa Is really one of the best of all the cast his portrayal of Shang Tsung is so evil.
Btw: is it me or is shang tsung a pervert ?
because everytime he sees sonya he trys to crack on to her and his reaction to sonya's fight with kano is priceless yet disturbing.
