I have a 2006 SL500 and i just cant figure out how to play dvd's on my navi, it always sais, "dimming image for safe driving" (or something along those lines) I want to know how to get the image on the display. Audio is no problem.

The message is "Video has been faded out for drivers safety." I have been to the dealership, they wont even attempt to change the software due to legalities, I'm looking for an after-market hack that can achieve the dvd video.

Ok I see what you are saying .. I cant believe you havent gotten this problem resolved yet, simply go to a Car audio/video shop and they will know what to do or atleast they can give you an idea of how much things will cost.

I believe the law states that you can only watch dvds while the car is in park. The system is most likely wired to the parking brake so you need to have the brake on to allow the dvd to play. I have the same problem in my jeep and i think i can trick the computer by putting the parking brake wire on a switch so the computer thinks the car is in park.. good luck man.
