@Mtn86 Top Gear didn't do a review because the car was only released in North America. The plant here that made the SRT-4 was tooled for normal Neons so they only produced them in small numbers about 30,000 from what I've heard. When it came out it was the fastest car yould could buy for the money and won sport compact of the year and every comparison test it was placed in with other sport compacts. Top gear would never test an american car that would make Euro cars look bad.

neon srt4 was one of a kind and hard to find, they made them thru 2003-2005 and like mopar said at the bottom the caliber SRT sucks its slower than the neon, usually when they do a new generation of cars it suppose to be faster than the last model not slower, what was dodge thinking.
According to rumors, Dodge is offically scrapping the SRT-4s. Looks like they're only going to make SRT-8s and SRT-10s. Apparently, scrapping the Neon for the SRT-4s Caliber was a HUGE mistake and sales dropped terribly. Well, I'm just glad I got my Neon when I did.
this was the 03....the 04 and 05 put out 230hp and oh btw....thats to the wheels. These things put 220-230hp at the wheels stock. Figure about 260hp at the motor. They've gone 13.9's stock as well better than the 14.2's.
I met someone at Richmond International Raceway that recently brought a 03 SRT-4 for $9k, spent $3500 on a Stage 3R kit and bolt ons and now runs 11s in the 1/4 mile with 450hp. You cannot find another car that can run 11s for $12,500.
No V8s but they do use Magnum Heads (a technology developed By Lamborghini). There is more to it but Its basically a ported and polished head. They can be Identified by the High output logo on the engine cover. What we got here is a 2.0L neon width a Magnum head, Turbo, less restrictive intake/exhaust system, lower spring rates,probably larger injectors & running high octane fuel. its all good but this car is heavier than the 1st gen Neon and need not be.
i have a 95 LT1 corvette (see my vid) so I agree 100%. 0 to 60 comes up faster than 5.4 if you know how to drive it. I have been known to hit it in 4.9 with firestones at 28psi but 5.2 is the norm. Add to that that I get 32Mpg hwy & also have a 98 Neon CS which was a Limited edition European version. Its basically a neon RT with a SOHC and leather seats so I can confirm to you that fuel consumption is about the same as the Vette. not good considering its a 2.0L 4 banger but it corners.
BTW i only paid chf 1700 for the Neon and it actually has lower spring rates than Americas RT. My plans are to port and polish the head, turbo charge it, stick in the larger throttle body from the automatic and install a K&N cold air induction system. that should give it the power to match its handling. basically I'm going to make the car in this Vid for a faction of it's cost just to piss off the BMW crowd.

@Mtn86 Top Gear didn't do a review because the car was only released in North America. The plant here that made the SRT-4 was tooled for normal Neons so they only produced them in small numbers about 30,000 from what I've heard. When it came out it was the fastest car yould could buy for the money and won sport compact of the year and every comparison test it was placed in with other sport compacts. Top gear would never test an american car that would make Euro cars look bad.

I Iike the people who say "I beat one in my EVO" , well, you better have conidering it costs 15000 more and is AWD. You can't get anything thats easier to tune, is cheaper, and comes with alot of potential stock than the SRT-4.

neon srt4 was one of a kind and hard to find, they made them thru 2003-2005 and like mopar said at the bottom the caliber SRT sucks its slower than the neon, usually when they do a new generation of cars it suppose to be faster than the last model not slower, what was dodge thinking.

According to rumors, Dodge is offically scrapping the SRT-4s. Looks like they're only going to make SRT-8s and SRT-10s. Apparently, scrapping the Neon for the SRT-4s Caliber was a HUGE mistake and sales dropped terribly. Well, I'm just glad I got my Neon when I did.

this was the 03....the 04 and 05 put out 230hp and oh btw....thats to the wheels. These things put 220-230hp at the wheels stock. Figure about 260hp at the motor. They've gone 13.9's stock as well better than the 14.2's.

I met someone at Richmond International Raceway that recently brought a 03 SRT-4 for $9k, spent $3500 on a Stage 3R kit and bolt ons and now runs 11s in the 1/4 mile with 450hp. You cannot find another car that can run 11s for $12,500.

No V8s but they do use Magnum Heads (a technology developed By Lamborghini). There is more to it but Its basically a ported and polished head. They can be Identified by the High output logo on the engine cover. What we got here is a 2.0L neon width a Magnum head, Turbo, less restrictive intake/exhaust system, lower spring rates,probably larger injectors & running high octane fuel. its all good but this car is heavier than the 1st gen Neon and need not be.

i have a 95 LT1 corvette (see my vid) so I agree 100%. 0 to 60 comes up faster than 5.4 if you know how to drive it. I have been known to hit it in 4.9 with firestones at 28psi but 5.2 is the norm. Add to that that I get 32Mpg hwy & also have a 98 Neon CS which was a Limited edition European version. Its basically a neon RT with a SOHC and leather seats so I can confirm to you that fuel consumption is about the same as the Vette. not good considering its a 2.0L 4 banger but it corners.

BTW i only paid chf 1700 for the Neon and it actually has lower spring rates than Americas RT. My plans are to port and polish the head, turbo charge it, stick in the larger throttle body from the automatic and install a K&N cold air induction system. that should give it the power to match its handling. basically I'm going to make the car in this Vid for a faction of it's cost just to piss off the BMW crowd.
